Cottage Sant Elia is located within the Monti Iblei Nature Reserve, a mountain range in southeastern Sicily, spanning the provinces of Syracuse, Ragusa, and part of Catania. This area is known for its hilly landscape, characterized by deep canyons, gorges (locally known as "cave"), and limestone plateaus shaped over time by rivers. The natural beauty, rich in Mediterranean flora, blends with picturesque villages like Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa Ibla, and Modica, renowned for their baroque architecture and declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Iblean culture is strongly tied to rural and religious traditions, with popular festivals dating back centuries. Among these, the Feast of St. Paul in Palazzolo Acreide is one of the most cherished: an event rich in folklore, with blessings of animals and evocative processions. Holy Week is also very important, with solemn processions that involve the community in an atmosphere of deep devotion. Iblean traditions are still alive in the costumes, celebrations, and local products, such as the DOP olive oil from the Monti Iblei, known for its intense and fruity flavor, and thyme honey, a symbol of the area’s beekeeping craftsmanship.

We spent a week at Cottage Sant’Elia with a group of friends and had the most amazing time. From start to finish, our hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always available and full of great tips for the area. The house itself is phenomenal, and the property is absolutely huge. We enjoyed wonderful dinners in the backyard under the fairy lights while watching the sunset. Every day we relaxed by the pool, and we even ended up cancelling all our planned day trips so we could spend more time on the property. 1000/10 – we are beyond amazed and are already planning to come back next year. It was the perfect week, and words can’t capture how beautiful the house, the grounds, and the hosts truly are! Thank you.

The property was perfect made with all plants and garden. A real paradise. All flora means also a lot of flies and bugs. That was the only annoying thing, my kids got stung 3 times. House was a real paradise with a very nice host.
