In the heart of Ortigia’s historic centre, just a few steps from the traditional local market, we offer comfortable and affordable accommodation in Syracuse, an ideal base for discovering the beauty of eastern Sicily.
The B&B is directly accessible by car without passing through Ortigia’s ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) access points. Parking is available nearby, both free and paid, as well as at the Talete car park, just a short walk from the property.
The B&B has two individually and tastefully furnished rooms, each equipped with air conditioning, a TV, free Wi-Fi and a private en-suite bathroom. Breakfast is not included in the stay.
Al Mercato di Ortigia is a small, independently run B&B where cleanliness, attention to detail and personal relationships with guests are at the heart of our hospitality. I personally look after your stay and am happy to share my local knowledge, suggesting itineraries, places to discover and useful addresses to help you make the most of Ortigia and its surroundings.

The central location makes it easy to explore the island’s narrow streets, historic market, monuments and waterfront on foot. The various sea access points around the island of Ortigia are also within walking distance.
HOLIDAY APARTMENT
Casa del Corso is a comfortable apartment on the first floor of a 1930s building, in an exceptionally central location on Ortigia’s main street, just a few steps from the B&B.
The apartment consists of an entrance hall, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower and two spacious double bedrooms, with the option of an additional bed. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans, while one also has air conditioning. The apartment also features a relaxation area with armchairs, Wi-Fi, a TV and a clothes-drying rack.
A bicycle storage area is available for touring cyclists. The building’s rooftop terrace has a small sunbathing area with spectacular views over Ortigia’s rooftops and the sea.
The rate includes bed linen, cleaning, weekly linen changes, all utilities and final cleaning.

For those who enjoy walking and spending time in nature, the areas around Syracuse offer spectacular canyons, plateaus, protected natural areas and landscapes of great interest, from the Hyblaean Mountains to Mount Etna.

To access Ortigia, you can cross the Ponte Umbertino (old bridge). Once you reach the other side, therefore in Ortigia, just cross the square and turn left on via Trento. Continuing, at the end of the street, turn right and you will reach Piazza C. Battisti. Here, immediately on the right at number 3 is the B&B "Al Mercato di Ortigia", behind the statue of Cesare Battisti.

We loved our stay here. The property is in an ideal location for exploring Ortigia, close to parking, the water, and right next door to an amazing and vibrant market. The B&B itself is lovely and is guarded by an adorable cat named Jean Paul. Sebastiano is a lovely host who helped us when we had trouble finding the property and even showed us an ideal place to park, which is important if you're visiting Ortigia via car. He also had excellent suggestions for places to visit both in Ortigia and near Syracuse. We would happily recommend this to anyone visiting the city.

At first glance, the building from the '60s appears a bit neglected, but upon entering the B&B, you are welcomed by the warmth and professionalism of the manager who, with his knowledge of the places, history, and attention to the environment, positively captures you. Located in the lively market of Ortigia, it is in an absolutely favorable position for movements, both on foot to discover the old town and for guided excursions, for which the B&B manager is a well-prepared and qualified guide. Excellent and abundant breakfast, the lady is sweet and helpful. Two small suggestions for improvement: remove the electric air fresheners in the corridor and replace the shower doors, which are too large for the size of the shower tray. I recommend it. I will come back.

It's the third time I come back to this Al Mercato di Ortigia B&B, it never disappoints me, on the contrary, I found it even more advanced. Strategic position in the heart of Ortigia, sea just a stone's throw away, not to mention the intoxicating scents of spices coming from the market. Numerous comforts: WiFi, air conditioning, TV, parking space, optimal cleanliness of the room and common areas, amazing breakfast. My taste buds are still having fireworks for those freshly baked croissants. The excursions in the company of the legendary Sebastiano are equally amazing. I give 10 to the structure and 10 to the owners, very kind and available at any time, it's like being at home.

We arrived, having not really booked! I had kept the address in my emails. And frankly, we do not regret our choice. The house is super well located, right in the heart of Ortigia. The two owners are very courteous and helpful. We didn't do a guided hiking tour with Sebastiano, but it would have certainly been a unique experience. Particularly nice is that the Ortigia market is right around the corner, open every day except Sunday.

It was perfect, the Bed and Breakfast is located right in Ortigia at the market, the hosts are very friendly and accommodating, the value for money is very good and the breakfast is very good!

We stayed in the Pink Double Room for three nights. The house is in a beautiful location, the room is well furnished and really lacks nothing. But what struck us most is the absolute cleanliness of the room. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay at the B&B Al Mercato di Ortigia. The room and the entire accommodation are very cozy and perfectly located for visiting the wonderful market of Ortigia and other city attractions. Antonella spoils her guests with a delicious breakfast (cheese, egg, fruit etc.) and even serves tasty homemade jam. Antonella and her husband Sebastiano are very warm and helpful hosts. I would come back anytime. Thank you very much for the great time.

Well located property for visiting Ortigia and a very short distance to access public transport to visit other wonderful sites (Neapolis, etc). Simply furnished. The very courteous and helpful managers offered a plentiful breakfast.

I stayed with my family in March at this Al Mercato di Ortigia B&B and we had a great time. Human warmth and truly genuine hospitality all at an affordable price. The good weather allowed us to climb in t-shirts, it was fantastic, as well as the excellent limestone offered by the cliffs a short distance from Siracusa. Perfect breakfast. My wife fell in love with Ortigia and I with the good food that can be eaten in those parts.

Located inside an anonymous building in the heart of the picturesque Ortigia market, it is strategically positioned to visit Syracuse. The managers are very kind, friendly, and always available, their information is extremely useful to make the most of a stay in Syracuse. The interiors are furnished in a youthful way with some vintage furniture giving a really cozy atmosphere. Some small adjustments would be needed to keep this small B&B excellent.

We had a great time, the management is excellent, everything is beautiful. The only little problem was made worse by the bad weather, the parking lot is too far from the B&B. Anyway, we will return. Ortigia is wonderful.

Excellent location for those who want to visit Ortigia. We were welcomed by Ms. Roberta, a very kind and helpful person. She recommended a trattoria where we ate truly noteworthy dishes. Thank you again for everything. I almost forgot. Ortigia is a beautiful place.
