Description

Sebastiano and Antonella invite you to come and stay at their comfortable B&B in the fascinating historic centre of Siracusa, at the heart of Ortigia's colourful daily market. The rooms, decorated with originality and flair, have private bathrooms, air-conditioning, Tv and free Wi-fi internet. Guests are also free to use the breakfast and reading room, with internet point and informations about Siracusa and the area. We provide our guests with maps, brochures and lots of practical advice about the city and its surroundings, incl. informations about sports as bike, climbing, diving and trekking. We serve a generous breakfast, on request we provide gluten-free meals. The B&B is easily reached by car, and it is easy to park. Storage space for bicycles
THE HOLIDAY-FLAT
Casa del Corso is a comfortable apartment on the first floor on the main road of Ortigia island, the historic center of Syracuse. The apartment has an entrance hallway, a completely furnished kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and two large bedrooms with a ceiling fan and with a sitting area, clothes drier and WiFi. There is enough room for extra beds. On the top of the building there is a little "solarium" with a beautiful view. In this apartment you would only be a few moments from the main tourist attractions and principle monuments of the city, and from the beaches that surround the island of Ortigia.

The price includes sheets, all utility costs, and the final cleaning of the apartment.

CLIMBING
The area just outside Siracusa is characterized by the highland of Monti Iblei and its eastern foothill, The Climiti Mountains. Wild canyons with caves and white rocky cliffs cross the highland. The warm weather of the area makes it a perfect spot for climbers all year round. You will be able to climb cliffs and experience deep-water solo all day long and spend the evening in Ortigia for a night swim or a relaxing walk in the hustle and bustle of the city centre. You will of course enjoy a tasty dinner "sicilian style" in the amazing Baroque setting of the island.

Meet Sebastiano Giuffrida, an Environmental Hiking Guide who was born in 1968 and is a Capricorn with a Cancer rising. Although he is a Sociologist by profession, his true passion lies in long walks, the peacefulness of Mount Etna, and the delicious Sicilian dessert, babbà.

And let us introduce Antonella Manca, born in 1964 and an Aquarium with a Gemini rising. She used to be a teacher but is now a translator and a loving mother. Antonella was born in Sardinia and has lived in both Italy and Germany but now spends her time making excellent citrus jams.

To access Ortigia, you can cross the Ponte Umbertino (old bridge). Once you reach the other side, therefore in Ortigia, just cross the square and turn left on via Trento. Continuing, at the end of the street, turn right and you will reach Piazza C. Battisti. Here, immediately on the right at number 3 is the B&B "Al Mercato di Ortigia", behind the statue of Cesare Battisti.

Easy to park across the street in the municipal parking lot. Great location to visit Ortigia and Syracuse. The building does not look like much, but the B&B is just fine.

The room is beautiful, very well furnished and also very clean. The problem is that it is located in a dilapidated building. The room is located in an apartment on the first floor, unfortunately the stairs are smelly and creepy at night. To summarize the situation: if I had to give a score to the room, I would give it a 9 because it lacks a refrigerator, but the rest...

Lovely and very convenient place to stay in Ortigia with parking nearby. Great host who speaks English, very friendly and very helpful. Some coffee facilities and cookies/croissants would be a great idea, since the establishment is called "B&B", which means Bed and Breakfast. Overall, it's a great place to stay! Thank you.

We loved our stay here. The property is in an ideal location for exploring Ortigia, close to parking, the water, and right next door to an amazing and vibrant market. The B&B itself is lovely and is guarded by an adorable cat named Jean Paul. Sebastiano is a lovely host who helped us when we had trouble finding the property and even showed us an ideal place to park, which is important if you're visiting Ortigia via car. He also had excellent suggestions for places to visit both in Ortigia and near Syracuse. We would happily recommend this to anyone visiting the city.

The location in Ortigia is excellent, very close to everything. However, you need to equip yourself with water, toilet paper, and whatever else. Nevertheless, we had a great time.

Small B&B with two nice rooms. Good breakfast tailored to your liking. Friendly, extremely helpful hosts, Antonella speaks fluent German. Located right in front of the daily fruit, vegetable, and fish market on the edge of the old town of Ortigia. Not so bad parking options within 300-600m. Can be recommended.

At first glance, the building from the '60s appears a bit neglected, but upon entering the B&B, you are welcomed by the warmth and professionalism of the manager who, with his knowledge of the places, history, and attention to the environment, positively captures you. Located in the lively market of Ortigia, it is in an absolutely favorable position for movements, both on foot to discover the old town and for guided excursions, for which the B&B manager is a well-prepared and qualified guide. Excellent and abundant breakfast, the lady is sweet and helpful. Two small suggestions for improvement: remove the electric air fresheners in the corridor and replace the shower doors, which are too large for the size of the shower tray. I recommend it. I will come back.

It's the third time I come back to this Al Mercato di Ortigia B&B, it never disappoints me, on the contrary, I found it even more advanced. Strategic position in the heart of Ortigia, sea just a stone's throw away, not to mention the intoxicating scents of spices coming from the market. Numerous comforts: WiFi, air conditioning, TV, parking space, optimal cleanliness of the room and common areas, amazing breakfast. My taste buds are still having fireworks for those freshly baked croissants. The excursions in the company of the legendary Sebastiano are equally amazing. I give 10 to the structure and 10 to the owners, very kind and available at any time, it's like being at home.

We arrived, having not really booked! I had kept the address in my emails. And frankly, we do not regret our choice. The house is super well located, right in the heart of Ortigia. Very good welcome from Sebastiano: very cool and good advice especially for Etna. Very nice breakfast, nicely prepared. Ortigia is a wonderful place, one of our favorites. We will return, that's for sure! See you soon.

The two owners are very courteous and helpful. We didn't do a guided hiking tour with Sebastiano, but it would have certainly been a unique experience. Particularly nice is that the Ortigia market is right around the corner, open every day except Sunday.

I stayed with my family in March at this Al Mercato di Ortigia B&B and we had a great time. Human warmth and truly genuine hospitality all at an affordable price. The good weather allowed us to climb in t-shirts, it was fantastic, as well as the excellent limestone offered by the cliffs a short distance from Siracusa. Perfect breakfast. My wife fell in love with Ortigia and I with the good food that can be eaten in those parts.

Located inside an anonymous building in the heart of the picturesque Ortigia market, it is strategically positioned to visit Syracuse. The managers are very kind, friendly, and always available, their information is extremely useful to make the most of a stay in Syracuse. The interiors are furnished in a youthful way with some vintage furniture giving a really cozy atmosphere. Some small adjustments would be needed to keep this small B&B excellent.

We had a great time, the management is excellent, everything is beautiful. The only little problem was made worse by the bad weather, the parking lot is too far from the B&B. Anyway, we will return. Ortigia is wonderful.
