Residenza Kastrum lies in a convenient position in the heart of the town’s historic centre.
Our Residenza is a guest-house whose four double bedrooms and suite enjoy panoramic views over the town and its Gulf.
Opened in 2006, it was one of the first in the quarter and in all of Cagliari to provide a new type of hospitality, which is friendlier, more genuine and authentic when compared to traditional tourist structures.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and furnished in an original way. They are decorated with unique collections of various authors depicting Castello’s and the town’s other landmarks. In the common areas there are authentic pieces of work such as the first modern map of the Island and the Kingdom of Sardinia drawn up by Alberto La Marmora in 1845.
Buffet breakfast is served in a dedicated room. We combine a typical Italian breakfast with the Sardinian tradition by selecting some of the best sweets of our island as well as some savoury dishes to please all tastes. On request we can also provide gluten-free food and food suitable for people with alimentary intolerances.
From our panoramic terrace you can enjoy a breath-taking view over the town, the lagoons and the mountains on Cagliari’s skyline.
In fine weather the terrace is a suntrap and ideal to taste an aperitif admiring wonderful sunsets. And of course in addition to all this, our staff provide guests with loving and caring assistance. Area Castello
Founded by the Pisans in XIII century as an impregnable and fortified fortress, during the history Kastrum Karalis-as reported by documents of the period-occupied the heading role in the civic town.
In every period and domination has always been the seat of the political and temporal power, traces of wich are still plenty and recognizable.
The fortress was surrounded with solid walls and a series of towers and ramparts strategically guarding the access points to the citadel.
The Tower of the Elephant and the Tower of Saint Pancrace together with the Cathedral of Saint Mary are the legacy of the Pisan period to Cagliari.
Afterwards the Aragonese period further enriched the quarter and in this connection cannot be disregarded Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) at the time the residence of Spain viceroys with still houses the offices of the public authority, as well as in the homonymous street the first seat of the University of Cagliari whose institution was resumed and increased under the Piedmontese rule.
In the Ninethenth and early Twentieth centuries th Bastione of Saint Remy terrace with its indoor walk and the Civic Theater were the magnet both for the middle clas and town intelligentia as well as meeting places to exchange ideas.

I recommend it to anyone who wants to visit and admire Cagliari; in the historic Castello district you will find a B&B from which to admire the regional capital. The rooms all have parquet floors, are warm, welcoming and clean. If you are lucky, as I was, to stay in the suite, you will have a place you will not want to leave, with a terrace on the roofs of Cagliari that embraces a view stretching from the Cathedral to the inlets of Kalaris. The owner, Mrs. Roberta, will welcome you and handle your requests. At Kastrum you are close to the clouds and the sky of Cagliari. It is hard to give it up.

I stayed here for the second time, this time we took the Suite which is really stunning. The terrace is fantastic and you can have superb aperitifs at sunset with a view of the sea and all of Cagliari (you have to bring everything though). We noticed that the terrace is one of the highest in the historic center! Unfortunately, the breakfast is a bit scarce (little choice) but the place is so beautiful that breakfast is not very important in the end. Excellent location in the historic center. We will definitely come back.

Roberta was perfect, she responded very quickly to all my questions, making our stay perfect. Only the breakfast was a bit sparse (coffee and pastries). Fortunately, Roberta managed to ask for my children to have hot chocolate instead of coffee! It would have been nice to add a fresh orange juice... Possibility to leave your luggage in the lobby when you have a flight in the afternoon. Super convenient. It would be good to plug in the lobby fridge so that we can leave some products there before our flight. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

The situation of Residenza Kastrum and the rented room are nearly perfect. We enjoyed our stay in Cagliari. But it is to say that the bed or the mattress of room 4 should be renewed. It is uncomfortable, worn out. And we have had no information on where the breakfast will be served although we asked Roberta for the address the night before by sms and mail and have tried to contact her by phone in the morning. The suite is large and lovely, and the rooftop views are both panoramic and wonderful. If you fantasize about breakfasting on the rooftop, as I did, keep in mind breakfast is alas at a cafe a walk down the hill. It is less a "bed and breakfast" and more an apartment with a manager who responds (promptly) by WhatsApp.

If you love the unique atmosphere of the Castello district in Cagliari, with its breathtaking views, unforgettable sunsets, and a village rich in history suited for human scale, this is the perfect place for you. Just a short walk from the Cathedral and very close to the Marina area, the location is truly ideal, in a historic building on a narrow street of the old village. We had been here years ago, bringing with us wonderful memories, and returning was like reliving those same emotions. Breakfast is not served directly in the property but in a nearby partner café; however, there is a coffee machine and a kettle in the room. The only point that could be improved: some details in the bathroom could be perfected, but these are normal structural adjustments. Overall, an experience I highly recommend!

Roberta was very welcoming and helpful during our short stay. We arrived early and were expecting to just leave our luggage for a few hours, but our room was ready right away. The location was perfect, close to everything but quiet. The place was very clean and well kept. We forgot an item behind when we checked out and Roberta let us know as soon as they found it and kept it for a few days until we were able to come back and pick it up. The included breakfast was close by and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Host was great. Always available to answer questions and help. I needed to be high on the hill of the old city near the duomo and the location was perfect. It was also quiet and out of the buzz and traffic of the lower city. Continental breakfasts were available at bars just a few steps from the hotel: both had indoor and outdoor tables with wonderful views of the old city. The service was friendly and the breakfast perfect for my needs and tastes. But for those looking for more than a continental breakfast, keep this in mind.

After some communication problems upon our arrival, we finally very much appreciated our stay at Residenza Kastrum. The place couldn't be better, the views are wonderful. The breakfast is too simple, just a coffee and a croissant.

I have been to Cagliari twice and always chosen Residenza Kastrum. Nice room in a quiet area despite being in the historic center. Panoramic terrace overlooking the city. Kindness and availability of Roberta, the owner, always ready to help me with any need. Breakfast at the bar nearby (you can choose between 2 bars); included in the rate a croissant and a drink.

Great address and well located to easily visit Cagliari on foot. The room is spacious and the terrace is fantastic. The little attentions of coffee, tea, sweets, and bottles of water in the room are truly a plus. We received all the information to retrieve the keys and access the room independently.

I must say that Roberta in the reception, booking, and assistance service is excellent. The Residenza Kastrum is very nice, perhaps in need of some updating. The location is lovely and the view is beautiful. We will come back!

We stayed twice at Residenza Kastrum in September and October 2020. It was really easy to communicate with Michele also in advance as we wanted to confirm a few things before booking. He was really friendly. The room and bathroom were spacious. Everything was clean, etc. It was a nice bonus that there was a rooftop terrace where we could smoke and enjoy nice views of the city. The location was really good as well. Because of covid-19, we received a breakfast voucher for the cafeteria next to the cathedral.

Very central location, very clean and with a breathtaking view of Cagliari. The manager was very kind and uniquely available. Only breakfast (not attributable to the structure) could be improved, as due to Covid reasons it was not served on site but a voucher is provided for a nearby bar with room for improvement in service. Otherwise, a perfect score of 10.

The short stay was very pleasant. I found an impeccable structure for cleanliness and an aesthetically perfect environment. Excellent renovation, well blended the antique and the practicality of the modern. The view from the terrace over the rooftops is fascinating. The only small flaw: breakfast. I suggest local products that surely are not lacking. Starting the day with good pecorino and local ham would be the best. I will do my best to return as soon as possible to enjoy again the splendid location and beautiful Cagliari.

Le -: the person in charge of welcoming us asks us the day before around what time we think we will arrive, we say between 6 and 7 pm, and indeed we arrive at 6:30 pm. Too bad, this person is not present and once we contacted her, she tells us she will arrive as soon as possible. It can happen but tired after a good day of sightseeing, having to wait with luggage at the foot of the building in a narrow street, is a shame. The +: apart from that, everything is very good, clear both the functioning of the premises, the explanations of things to see in the neighborhood or where to eat.. The day before, we are given clear and precise explanations on how to reach the structure on foot because located in the heart of the castello district, you cannot reach it by car, but you can park for free on a boulevard 5-10 minutes away. Beautiful and large spacious room, complete and very satisfying breakfast in terms of quality/quantity, the real + of this establishment, the breakfast that can be taken on the terrace on the rooftops overlooking the cathedral, the sea, the city.. and also its location in the heart of the castello which allows all kinds of visits.

Kastrum is a splendid place. The structure is located in an incredible position, on the edge of Piazza Palazzo, in a carefully and tastefully restored historic building. The manager is very kind and helpful. Only one flaw: the breakfast. If we exclude the homemade pastries, the rest of the offering is just sufficient and clashes with the nature of the structure. I believe that even if the rates were slightly revised upwards, the overall image would greatly benefit.

Excellent breakfast with fresh products; spacious and clean room; beautiful view of the historic center and the harbor from the little terrace on the roofs.
