Description

Il Ghiro Bed & Breakfast is a small three-storey house, built between the 18th and 19th Century, located in the old part of town.

Our family became owner of it when our grandfather bought it in the 20th Century and opened a tailor’s workshop at the ground floor. The house has been restructured in conformity with the precepts of bio-building. From the window you can see the central square dai Baruffi with its huge ficus trees, where old people and children sit together spending their time in quiet. The artists' Home.

The rooms are nice and comfortable, endowed with bathroom and air-conditioning.

The price includes carlofortino breakfast with typical foodstuffs: canestrelli and gallette. (Vegan friendly - Vegetarian friendly). Surprise "Breakfast with the Commander" Our father Antonio Casanova, who will tell legends and anecdotes of our magical island. Vegatarian friendly. Bike Friendly & Bicycle-friendly.

Hello, we are Bruno and Salvatore, the heart and soul of Ghiro. Our family became the owner of the house in the middle of the last century when our grandfather Bruno, a young tailor, bought it and established a tailoring shop on the ground floor and a residence on the upper floors. Since 2004, we have transformed the property into a bed and breakfast.

The story of Carloforte is the tale of the colonization of the island of San Pietro. In 1738, some families from Pegli who had already settled on the Tunisian island of Tabarka in the 1500s, arrived on the uninhabited island of San Pietro with the permission of the Sardinian-Piedmontese king, Carlo Emanuele III.

The town still exudes the atmosphere of the ancient Ligurian tradition, preserved in its dialect, gastronomy, and architecture. The ghiro (a narrow alley) is located in the central Republic Square at the corner of Solferino Street, where the Archiottu, an ancient passage leading to the fortified citadel, is located. This is one of the most striking and appreciated views by visitors. From here, you can access the Cassinee, a characteristic neighborhood from which you can easily reach the civic museum.

Solferino Street also has another peculiar feature: it is the only road that has retained the old pavement, recently renovated, which covered the streets of the town with the so-called Rissò (round stones).

Finally I met him! I courted him for a long time, attracted by its vibrant colors and original yet authentic style, but it was always full! I spent two pleasant nights and it did not disappoint my expectations at all. In fact! There is a lively, real, and intense atmosphere. I felt well received by the attentions of Rossella and Bruno, who offered me a healthy and abundant breakfast with delicious homemade products. Top! I just missed a slightly softer and cuddly pillow.

At Il Ghiro you experience living in a real Carloforte house, impeccable service and well-kept and clean rooms. Every piece of furniture and object recalls the tradition and culture of the place. The breakfast is excellent and rich, with Carloforte products, the yogurt and mulberry jam are super delicious. Genuine and sincere kindness and cordiality. Recommended for people who love authentic and well-kept places.

Everything perfect, from the parking under the house, to the cleanliness, to the friendliness of the lady at breakfast (I apologize, but I forgot the name :)). We stayed at this property for three nights and it was a pleasant surprise. The B&B is located in the heart of the ancient village. All the furniture is well-kept and never random. Through the thick walls and the beams of the past, the memories of three generations come alive, and that's why it's not an anonymous place. Bruno is a friendly and helpful guy who kept us company during the excellent and healthy breakfast with local products. Thanks to him, we entered the magical world of this paradise island! If you really want to find a small downside, I would say that perhaps people who struggle to sleep could have some trouble falling asleep due to the noises coming from the square. However, the windows are well isolated. We will definitely come back if we are ever in Carloforte again!

I stayed at the Il Ghiro property for a day and I was thoroughly satisfied. The property is located on the main square of the town, easily reachable on foot from the ferry terminal and the bus stop to the beaches. The interior is tastefully decorated with attention to detail, the cleanliness is commendable, and the breakfast is exceptional. In addition to being abundant, it is based on local zero-kilometer products, including wild blackberry jam, yogurt, and sweets made directly by the owners. Bruno, the owner, was kind and helpful. The only downside for those with light sleep, like me, is the excessive noise coming from the square below due to the chatter of people until late at night and the vendors setting up the Sunday morning market at dawn. Still an experience to be repeated! Highly recommended.

B&B davvero comodo (in pieno centro) ed accogliete. Camera spaziosa e pulita, ed un bagno molto carino. Il gestore è una persona squisita, disponibile e sempre gentilissimo. Ci ha anche aiutati a trovare un taxi collettivo per il ritorno, dato lo sciopero dei treni della domenica. Un grazie di cuore, e torneremo sicuramente.

Siamo stati al B&B di Tore e Bruno a Carloforte. Struttura accogliente e ordinata, un po' pittoresca. Ci siamo trovati bene, la camera pulita e arredata in stile "della nonna", molto suggestiva e particolare. Un bel posto. Consiglio ai viaggiatori di provarlo!

Très mignonne petite chambre, avec tout le confort nécessaire dans un espace réduit. Très propre. Seul défaut: l'éclairage insuffisant et même sinistre. La situation sur la place qui devient très animée en début de soirée est amusante (quadruple vitrage très efficace contre le bruit). Pas beaucoup de place pour les affaires. Mais quand même une étape bien agréable. Hôte très accueillant et sympathique.

Delizioso B&B, semplice ma curato con soluzioni che rendono un'abitazione storica un piccolo nido accogliente. Colazione abbondate e genuina. Gestori veramente ospitali e disponibili, grazie alle cui parole si può Conoscere la Carloforte turistica ma non solo. Unico piccolo neo, vista la centralità della struttura, il rumore notturno del fine settimana ma assolutamente trascurabile visto tutto il resto! Assolutamente consigliato.

Effettivamente ho trovato un po' rumorosa la collocazione nella piazza principale del paese ma disagio risolto con un paio di tappi auricolari. Spero di tornare a Carloforte ed approfittare nuovamente dell'accoglienza.

Ottima pulizia e posizione e accoglienza. Il giudizio sulla colazione può essere falsato dal fatto che ho alloggiato nel B&B in un periodo fuori stagione. Prima colazione che può essere migliorata. Giudizio generale comunque ottimo.

I loved the time I could stay at Il Ghiro. It was much more than a bed and breakfast. If I needed something I could ask any time. If I wanted no contact it was accepted, if I wanted a little chat it was also possible. Thank you, Il Ghiro, for this wonderful time at Carloforte. It would not have been the same without il ghiro. Si raccomanda per la posizione centralissima, per gli arredi di atmosfera e la pulizia perfetta. Gentilissimi e sempre disponibili i gestori. Abbiamo trovato facilmente parcheggio gratuito in zona porto a pochi passi dalla struttura. Avevo letto altre recensioni dove si diceva che la piazzetta era rumorosa, ma a noi non è parso affatto.
