Description
The Domo Antico Mulino is a charming residence located in the historic center of Aglientu, a picturesque hilltop village in Gallura. It was created through the careful and respectful restoration of an old water mill. The renovation preserved the building’s original character, highlighting exposed stone, wood, and high ceilings lined with reeds—features that reflect the local architectural heritage.

The interiors are thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail and enhanced by furniture, curtains, and bedspreads handcrafted in Sardinia. On the ground floor, an exhibition area preserves the memory of the ancient mill, creating an authentic atmosphere, while the upper floor houses cozy and quiet bedrooms.

The property offers five spacious, air-conditioned double or twin rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom and complimentary Wi-Fi. The spaces are designed to provide peace, privacy, and comfort while maintaining a strong connection to the local identity. Special care is also given to cycling enthusiasts, who can use Aglientu as a starting point to explore the landscapes and trails of Gallura.

The location allows guests to easily experience daily village life: bars, small shops, markets, and traditional bakeries are all within a short walking distance. At the same time, it takes only about 10-15 minutes by car to reach the coast and discover some of the area’s most stunning beaches, including Vignola Mare, Rena Majore, and Lu Litarroni.

Domo Antico Mulino thus represents an ideal choice for those wishing to alternate between seaside relaxation and exploring the Gallura countryside, staying in a peaceful setting rich in history where traditional architecture, Sardinian craftsmanship, and modern comforts coexist harmoniously.

Hey from Laura & Mauro

Behind the carefully crafted atmosphere and warm hospitality of Domo Antico Mulino are Laura and Mauro. They come from different life paths that crossed in Gallura, united by the same vision of travel: to turn a stay into a deep, authentic, and rejuvenating experience.

Laura, originally from Milan, chose Sardinia as her home over twenty years ago. Her professional background is rooted in the communications field, where she spent many years working in the tourism sector. This experience taught her to observe places with curiosity and to tell the story of their hidden beauty. Today, Laura uses this sensitivity in service of the guests. She loves human connection and aims to share with travelers the creativity, ancient wisdom, and charm of Sardinian traditions.

Mauro, originally from Abruzzo, splits his time between Sardinia and Tuscany. He brings to Domo his spirit as a traveler and his knowledge of unique territories. He shares with Laura the same values and passion for local culture, unspoiled nature, and genuine interactions with people. Living and moving between regions rich in history and landscapes allows him to bring to Domo an open, dynamic vision attentive to details, with the goal of offering guests the best each area has to offer.

The Project: Charming Hospitality and Local Activities
Domo Antico Mulino was born from a shared intuition and a true love at first sight. As soon as the opportunity arose to revive this historic property in Aglientu, Laura and Mauro decided to embark on this journey together. Their aim was clear: to combine a charming boutique hotel with an offer of active and experiential tourism. For this reason, Domo is not just an elegant retreat for rest, but a starting point to connect with the soul of Gallura through dedicated activities:
- Excursions and Trekking: guided routes among the monumental granites and Mediterranean scrub of Aglientu.

- Cycle Tourism: slow-paced bike itineraries to explore the coast and inland from a unique perspective.

- Cultural and Food & Wine Experiences: workshops, tastings of local products, and meetings to experience firsthand the island’s ancient traditions.

Laura and Mauro look forward to welcoming you at Domo Antico Mulino, where art, nature, and Sardinian hospitality come together to create an unforgettable experience.

Area city center
Aglientu is a charming village in Gallura, nestled within a landscape where the smooth shapes of granite, Mediterranean scrub, and inland valleys meet a coastline that remains largely untouched. The town is located just a few kilometers from the sea and maintains a peaceful and genuine atmosphere, perfect for those wishing to explore a Sardinia that is not only about beaches but also small towns, local traditions, and rural scenery.

The municipal area stretches over more than twenty kilometers of coastline, featuring wide sandy beaches, secluded coves, and granite headlands. Among the most well-known spots is Vignola Mare, distinguished by a long golden beach and dominated by the Vignola Tower, an ancient coastal structure that still stands as one of the area's symbols. The clear waters and wind exposure make this part of the coast especially popular with sailing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing enthusiasts.

More intimate and picturesque is the San Silverio area, where a small cove surrounded by granite rocks and Mediterranean vegetation opens up in front of the distinctive countryside church dedicated to the saint. Continuing along the coast, you will find the coves of Portobello, set in a particularly green and tranquil environment, with transparent seabeds ideal for snorkeling and diving.

Among the most spectacular natural landscapes is Monti Russu, a pink granite promontory surrounded by small inlets and vegetation that almost reaches the sea. Naracu Nieddu and Lu Litarroni offer long beaches bordered by dunes and pine forests, perfect for those seeking wide open spaces and a direct connection with nature. Slightly further south lies Rena Majore, known for its light sand, intensely turquoise waters, and clear seabeds.

The inland area also holds significant traces of the territory’s long history. In the countryside around Aglientu, remains from the Nuragic era can be found, including the Nuraghe Tuttusoni, while along the coast, ancient watchtowers recall the defensive system built over centuries to protect the island from sea invasions.

Aglientu’s historic center preserves the character of traditional Gallurese villages, with granite buildings, narrow streets, and daily life still closely tied to the rhythms of the town. The Church of San Francesco d’Assisi serves as a key landmark in the town center, around which bars, shops, and local businesses flourish.

Throughout the year, especially during the summer months, popular festivals and fairs offer the chance to experience Gallura’s culinary culture up close, featuring traditional specialties, local products, and moments of conviviality. Staying in Aglientu allows visitors to alternate days on the coastal beaches with explorations of the inland, experiencing a part of Sardinia that remains deeply connected to its landscape and traditions.
