Descrizione
The B&B “Il Porto Vecchio” is in the centre of tourist Stintino town. It’s next to all facilities: bank, chemist, post office, newsagents, supermarkets, restaurants, bus station, bars, tobacconist’s shop). It’ s too next to some boats of the regular service to virgin island Asinara (it’s a national park).
The see is very next and the well-know beach “La Pelosa” is to 2 km.
The bus station to Alghero Airport, to Sassari city and to all beaches is to 20 mt.
In the B&B “Il Porto Vecchio” there are some comfortable rooms (single and double), there are all a private bathroom, a TV, a cupboard, some bath-towels and some bed-sheets. In the price they are too the Italian breakfast (with coffee, milk, tea, croissants, chocolate, butter, jams) and the cleaning all days. There is a terrace where is possible to have breakfast, to read and to talk.

The inhabitants of Stintino usually talk about their sea distinguishing between the “inside sea” and the “outside sea”. The sea on the eastern side is contained within the Gulf of Asinara and is characterised by several snow white beaches, including the very beautiful “La Pelosa” beach. The other sea on the western side is instead characterised by sheer rocks and splendid coves with emerald coloured sea.
The “Mediterranean Championship” of “latin sail” (26-28 August in all years) is probably the most important event held at Stintino. The “latin sail” is a boat characterised by a tall yardarm, whose origin date back to the Roman Empire.
The sea has obviously had a remarkable influence on Stintino’s cuisine. Sea urchins and seafood are local delicacies, as are crustaceans and “bottarga” (tuna roe), wich is prepared with a jealously kept recipe. The most famous local dish is a fish soup, made of Gulf fish with potatoes and lobster. On the theme of traditions, in Stintino, one can still find hand made carpentry, and fishing is also carried out on small boats using ancient methods. One important testimony from the past is the “Museo delle Tonnare” (Museum of tuna fish).

As well as the famous beach La Pelosa, sought-after destination of the majority of the tourists, the beautiful beaches of: La Pelosetta, Il Gabbiano, L’Ancora, I Tamerici, Punta Negra, Le Tonnare, Le Saline, Pazzona, Punta d’Elice and Ezzi Mannu well deserve a mention.
In the mare di Fuori, situated on the western part of the territory, there are small and welcoming coves with the Coscia di Donna and Punta su Torrione beaches. The interior territory, often swept by the strong wind, seems to reawaken in spring with the perfume of the Mediterranean bush and the warm shades of its colours which tint the summer and autumn months with soft amber yellows.
The town, which faces the Gulf of Asinara, owes its name to the two characteristic inlets in the shape of a snake (in dialect “isthintu”), in which lie the two ports “Porto Nuovo” and “Porto Vecchio”. A fishing location, which has made its existence from the sea, Stintino is the main port of entry to the Nature Park of the Isola dell’Asinara, linked by a daily ferry service; it also offers an infinite variety of recreating and relaxing entertainment solutions to be enjoyed: from the numerous hospitality structures, often with a sea view, to the possibility of tasting the traditional fish dishes, horse riding trails and naturalistic excursions into the multiform landscapes of the interior.
As well as the traditional activities linked to fishing lately fishing-tourism has become very popular together with various acquasports including diving in the magnificent sea beds, snorkelling, surf, windsurf and, above all, sailing (in august the famous Regatta della vela latina will be held), all activities which superbly valorise this splendid sea.

Beautiful room. Very new and modern. There was a coffee machine and water in the fridge. Spotless. Wonderful location. The staff were kind and helpful. Fantastic value for money. I gave everything a 10 because it was not possible to give more.

Unfortunately, when I booked, they only had space in the economy room, which is a bit dated but very clean and equipped with both air conditioning and a mini-fridge (not taken for granted, given the price of the room). The location is very convenient, both for the local bars and restaurants (which are located right in the parallel street) and for the marina where the excursions to Asinara depart (only 10 minutes on foot) and we never had parking problems, even though we stayed at this property during the last weekend of July, at the end of the street there is parking with several parking spots. The only thing I want to point out is that the property is really very close to where live music events are organized, which can therefore be heard from the room.

Stintino is an expensive area. This is the least expensive place identified in September. It is clean. There is little interaction with the managers. Breakfast is not included. At their bar, the croissants and coffee are good.

Well-maintained and clean structure in the center of Stintino, rooms and bathrooms furnished with everything necessary. Normal breakfast, perhaps the only small downside is to arrange the breakfast room in a less chaotic way. For the rest, I recommend it.

The room in which we slept was quite cramped, on a raised floor, with a window overlooking the sidewalk and street (so much so that we didn't open the shutters), quite noisy. However, clean. The feeling is like entering a private home, the host not particularly welcoming, albeit polite.
