The Municipality of Posada (NU) is located in the historical region of Baronia and has approximately 3000 inhabitants.

The name “Pasada” derives directly from the Latin verb Pausare “to rest, to stop”. The human presence in Posada (Pasada in Sardinian) was already attested during the Neolithic period (4500-1800 BC). Clearer are the traces dating back to the Bronze Age, during the Nuragic period, represented by the giants' tombs and several nuraghi where three Nuragic bronzes were found. Another very important bronze object for the history of Posada is the so-called "Hercules of Posada" found at the beginning of the 20th century and now preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Cagliari. The work constitutes an example of Etruscan-Italic sculpture (IV-II BC).

In the Middle Ages the Posada territory, included in the Giudicato of Gallura, was conquered by the maritime republic of Pisa. In this period the Fava castle was built. Since then, Posada became the economic, military and strategic capital of the entire Barony, representing until modern times a fundamental point of reference for the entire territory of the upper Barony and Northern Sardinia.

Posada and its territory are located within the Tepilora Regional Natural Park and with the delta of the Posada River and the coastal ponds it offers wonderful natural landscapes enriched by the presence of various ornithological species which find ideal conditions here for nesting.

Posada has been holder (for eight years) of the "5 Vele" of Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano, where in 2013 she was elected 1st place in Italy with the following motivation: "for having been able to focus on ecotourism. The merit is that of being able to offer dream and quality holidays, thanks to the sustainable management of an excellent territory, the protection of the landscape, the services offered with full respect for the environment and high-level food and wine".

The Municipality was also awarded the 2013 Urban Planning Award within the Urbanpromo event, an event organized by the National Institute of Urban Planning (Turin 6 - 8 November 2013) for the Municipal Urban Plan, adapted to the Regional Landscape Plan.

Currently the Municipality of Posada, together with the Municipalities of the Tepilora Park and the neighboring Municipalities, has proposed the candidacy for the MaB Unesco - Biosphere Reserves programme. The area is equipped with a bike-sharing system that facilitates and encourages sustainable mobility.

Throughout the area it is possible to practice numerous sports such as trekking, mountain biking, sport and amateur fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing. The Municipality of Posada has a tourist port, La Caletta, which it manages with the Municipality of Siniscola and offers various services for pleasure boating and fishing.
