Hi, I'm Ylenia, I'm the owner of Aba Maya, since 2010 I have opened the Aba Maya structure, now I'll tell you where my passion for welcoming at home was born:
My great-grandmother Francesca already welcomed travelers from far away into her home, the overnight stays at that time used to last several weeks but even months, so our dear grandmother being a good hostess offered them a comfortable room and besides breakfast he shared with the various travelers both lunch and dinner with the whole family.
The unaware grandmother did not know that she was one of the pioneers of the launch of tourism in Alghero.
In 2004 my mother Franca opened the doors of our house, following the tradition of Nonna Francesca, thus starting a project to welcome travelers to the family who came to discover our city Alghero.
The Big Fish, as the bed and breakfast was called, was one of the very first b & bs here in Alghero.
Thanks to our parents my brother and I We grew up with the genuineness of sharing and conviviality with anyone who chose our home as a place to stay.
Our father Stefano as a good fisherman and an excellent home cook, every day prepared dishes based on fresh fish, and all together sitting around the large round table we exchanged various anecdotes of life and at the same time we enjoyed the excellent gastronomic preparations of father Stefano.
The guests who have lived the Big Fish since its inception have remained loyal over the years, thus cultivating a beautiful relationship of friendship up to the present day.
So in 2010 Aba Maya was born, Big Fish's sister structure.
Today Big Fish is followed in every minimum preparation by Elia and I take care of Aba Maya entirely.
Together we share the passion for hospitality and the discovery of new services to offer to our guests.
Always available for any need of our dear guests, because our hospitality goes beyond a simple "room for rent".
We have many services on the list and a lot of availability in dispensing advice on what to visit here in our city of Alghero and surroundings.

Clean property, very comfortable beds, easy and quick check-in, not in the city centre, but for this very reason reachable by car/motorbike (still a 5-minute walk from the historic centre). If you want to sleep in late, this is not the right place because of the movement of other guests and the room cleaning; if you wake up before 9 it's absolutely perfect. Special mention to the bed and pillows: as comfortable as rarely happens. Thank you, Ylenia!

Our room did not match the photos. It was very dark, despite being a sunny day, and we did not feel comfortable, so we changed accommodation. For one night during a stopover the room may be okay, but not for a stay of more than one night. We pointed out to Ilaria that the reality of the room did not match the photos. Unfortunately she cannot accept critical feedback, as is evident from other reviews. She lectured us and did not take our feedback seriously, which is a pity.

Siete arrivati in camere e dopo poco avete scritto senza motivazioni che volevate il rimborso accusandomi di Truffa. Alla mia richiesta di spiegazioni non avete risposto. Solo un accusa infamante: "truffa". Un duro colpo dopo 15 anni di attività in forte crescita grazie ai consigli sempre molto graditi dei miei ospiti, senza di essi non esisterebbe Aba Maya. La vostra non è stata una critica è stata un accusa, senza giustificazioni. Le do pienamente ragione su una cosa: le foto non corrispondono alla realtà. Perchè sono state scattate volutamente con uno smartphone, sicuramente pessima qualità rispetto ad un servizio fotografico di qualità. Non rendono la bellezza e l'esclusività della camera. A great disappointment. For the first time in all our travels, we decided to leave the accommodation. We had booked three nights at this property. A small room and a tiny shower where you could hardly move, clogged with hair from previous occupants. Poor, squeaky beds. And above all, it was extremely noisy. You could hear everything, absolutely EVERYTHING, and we could not sleep. You could hear people coming and going, the doorbell, construction work outside, the occupants of neighboring rooms having sex, as if they were in your bed. It's a divided apartment but no soundproofing work was done to ensure privacy. We slept in the room that opens onto a patio. I politely informed the owner, not wanting to make a fuss or ask for anything. I simply explained that we had not felt comfortable and that we were leaving. Instead of apologizing, she told me it had never happened (false, given the other reviews on Google...) and then accused me of having broken the bed base and the slats. An absurd attitude given the situation.

The accommodation is absolutely recommended! The check-in went smoothly and we were able to check in independently. Parking for the car was available right outside the door. Nevertheless, we were very satisfied. The bed was comfortable, even though that is rather our subjective opinion. There was coffee available, which we really appreciated. You can walk to the old town in about 10-15 minutes. Thank you very much for the great stay with you!

The room is comfortable because it is in the center and the owner is kind. However, the room is very noisy, at street level you can hear everything happening on the sidewalk, and also from the other rooms. When we arrived there, we found out that the cleaning of the room is done every three days, which is not written on the website; we stayed for 4 days and it was not cleaned, the cleaning lady said we were not entitled to it. The room is so humid that the bathroom towels remain permanently wet, never being changed by the way. Bare room, absence of a wardrobe to store your clothes.

Mi spiace che il soggiorno non abbia risposto appieno alle sue aspettative. Mi permetto solo di chiarire alcuni punti: l’appartamento si trova in una zona tranquilla, a 300 metri dal centro storico, non affacciata su strade trafficate. Il contesto è condiviso con altre camere, quindi un po’ di vita da appartamento può capitare di sentirla – ma, come in ogni convivenza, il rispetto reciproco è fondamentale, e io invito sempre tutti gli ospiti a osservarlo. Certo, il controllo totale sulle abitudini altrui non rientra (ancora) tra i miei superpoteri. Per quanto riguarda la pulizia, non era prevista nei 4 giorni di soggiorno – ma se mi avesse contattata, come ha fatto per l’asciugacapelli, avrei provveduto senza esitazione. La ragazza delle pulizie, infatti, non decide né concede: esegue quanto programmato. Bastava un messaggio, e avremmo evitato incomprensioni. Infine, sull’arredamento essenziale: è una scelta pensata per offrire praticità e ordine, ma accetto il suggerimento e valuterò qualche miglioria. Detto ciò, leggere una recensione così dettagliata fa pensare che il soggiorno, in fondo, non sia stato poi così dimenticabile. Clean, essential, not far from the historic center, convenient for walking. Timely and detailed information for check-in. We appreciated the possibility of making a coffee or tea. I would suggest providing guests, who almost always arrive tired and thirsty, one or two bottles of water in the fridge, to be paid perhaps in the same way as the tourist tax.

For one night, the room is beautiful. It is on the ground floor and clean. Check-in would have been easy without seeing the manager. Unfortunately, we received a code for the room next door from the manager that was not announced as ours. Because of this, we wasted quite a bit of time that we wanted to spend at the beach. Too bad, but it can happen.

The room was super comfortable, clean and super well located in a quiet area. An exquisite bakery just beside. A nice and friendly local café on the same block. The host was super attentive, quick response to any question. We would stay again, definitely! Thanks Aba Maya.

We had a good stay, the owner is very helpful and kind. The room is nice and simple, with air conditioning, located on the second floor of a condominium and about 10/15 minutes walk from the center. There is a shared kitchen with dishes for each room, a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, sink, which we did not use by our choice. The room is not noisy, of course you can hear small noises from the other rooms like closing doors, but not annoying. Overall, I would recommend it.

Alghero is the Sardinian city I have visited most often in my life. It is the one that would please me in the summer, if I could live there. The city is beautiful, the people are smiling, it really feels like being on vacation, even just for a day like it happened to me. And the structure where I stayed was just as I was looking for. Comfortable, close to the center, clean, and air-conditioned (with the heat of these days otherwise I would not have survived to write the review). I particularly appreciated both the kindness of the landlady whom next time (there will be) I would like to meet in person, and the system to access our room. A nine and a half on average, partly because this way the review is more credible and also because I struggled strenuously with the mattress to sleep, managing only partially. However, I want to say that the problem is probably mine, since my wife slept peacefully without any problems. I have the feeling, almost certainty, that I will see Alghero and Aba Maya again very soon. Thank you for everything.

I stayed in the second week of September and for the smile and kindness of Host Ylenia made me feel the beginning of summer sun. Great location, with a 10-minute walk you are in the center, below the structure there is a bakery where I recommend stopping for a croissant and a coffee (more than a coffee an experience for your taste buds) what to say 10+ because I felt at home, away from home.

Room near the city center, reachable very quickly by car but also with a walk. The structure is not new but has code entrances so very safe. The room we booked was small but had everything we needed and at a fair price. For a short stay, it's ideal. The manager, whom we only heard from by message, was helpful, punctual, and gave us advice for the visit.

I arrived in Alghero without any plans and just wanted to spend 2 nights in the local Hostel. Upon finding out that it was closed for the winter and looking for something new, Ylenia provided me with a new accommodation within minutes. Her B&B is located in a quiet local neighborhood with a bakery and a coffee bar right next door. It was just a quick 5-minute walk from the old town and all other necessities, such as the post office, supermarket, or bus station. The property and room were well taken care of and clean, and there was also free coffee provided. In the end, as I was enjoying my 2-day stay in Aba Maya and Alghero, I ended up extending for another 3 nights. If I ever find myself in Alghero again, I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
