Description

Retromantico is a guest house with a romantic flavor that, with its surroundings and the furnishings I have chosen, evokes memories of a bygone era and a feeling of "home" in those who arrive. It is a small and cozy nest filled with scattered details, with amenities for guests that feel like cuddles and lingering fragrances. The light that enters through the windows illuminates the pastel tones of the rooms, making the house a pleasant place to stay or return to in the evening after a day spent visiting the city or dealing with study or work commitments.

AN EXCLUSIVE GUEST HOUSE
It is a unique guest house: when customers make a reservation, they are guaranteed to have an exclusive and independent space. Even if you book just one room, the house will be all yours, and you won't have to share the spaces and bathroom with strangers.
There are two rooms, Antica, the double room, and Mimosa, the twin room, characterized by shabby furniture and Provence-inspired details. The bathroom is complete with a shower, hairdryer, and complimentary toiletries. Retromantico can accommodate a maximum of four people.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast is not provided, as stated by the current regional regulations. However, upon your arrival, you will find a selection of products that will be my welcome basket for you. You can savor the local delicacies and, along with the amenities for guests provided in the small kitchen of the house, start the day with the aroma of coffee or a cup of tea!
Cooking and smoking are not allowed.

STRATEGIC LOCATION
We are in Borgo San Paolo, at the corner of Corso Peschiera, 600 meters from the Polytechnic University, in a strategic location to reach the main points of interest.
The bus and tram stops are right there, around the corner, with lines connecting the historic center, the Basilica of Superga, Valentino Park and its Medieval Village, Pala Alpitour, and the Olympic Stadium.
For those arriving by car, we are outside the restricted traffic zone, and you can park freely on the street. If there is no space in front of the house, a few meters away, there is a large area designated for free and unattended parking.

It will be an intimate and independent stay for you. I will always be available and at your disposal for anything you may need.

The regional regulations do not allow breakfast in accommodation facilities like Retromantico.

However, in order to enhance your awakening, you will find in the small kitchen my "Guest Courtesies": if you don't like going to the bar right after waking up, you can prepare yourself a coffee or a cup of tea to enjoy while sitting in your room, accompanied by a sweet treat that, yes, will be packaged, but I have chosen it among many others to give you quality and a taste of my territory.

Retromantic is the story of a life change, of an adventure that started by chance. After studying biology, that beautiful experience in research, the year in the department and social service, finally the "steady" job that you think will be forever, even if it doesn't belong to you and doesn't make you happy. Then one day that injury and from there finally the turning point. I believe that nothing ever happens by chance and that's how, through a series of coincidences, in 2012 I opened my small guest house.

Shabby furniture & a hint of Provence.. just as I always imagined it. I imagined it like this, with shabby furniture and details that have a touch of Provence. Many things have been recovered and restored by me, others patiently sought in flea markets, others still purchased and harmonized with the context or custom-made. It is constantly evolving and occasionally something changes according to the flow of my thoughts.

Precious and irreplaceable are my husband and my family, who along with lifelong friends have supported me in this endeavor. Each one has put a part of themselves to help me make it a welcoming nest.

My dad helped me in restoring the furniture, family memories, and together with my husband, he runs whenever a new project requires nails and a hammer. With my mom, we went in search of linen and among the pieces of her dowry she found cups and saucers with a Provençal flavor. Aunt Laura and her sewing skills have provided curtains, valances, and bedspreads.

Upon your arrival, you will find me welcoming you and giving you a warm welcome: I have chosen the sheets, prepared the room, arranged the small gift on the table. Everything is ready..

Retromantico is located in Borgo San Paolo, a semi-central neighborhood in Turin that is 3.5 km away from Piazza Castello, the heart of the historic center.

When you leave the house, you will find, just around the corner, the public transportation stop with lines that directly connect not only the historic center, the Basilica of Superga, and the Valentino Park with its Medieval Village, but also the Polytechnic University, the GAM (Modern Art Gallery), the Pala Alpitour (Indoor Arena), the Olympic Stadium, the Lingotto Fiere (Exhibition Center), the hospitals, and the Porta Nuova and Porta Susa train stations.

It is a quiet and strategic location from which to reach the main points of interest.

Emanuela with her Retromantico made our stay in Turin extremely comfortable. In her apartment, I felt at home, with many amenities that made the stay comfortable and seemed to fulfill every possible wish and need. My family and I stayed in this delightful little apartment for the New Year 2024. Everything was in order, clean, and fragrant. The rooms are very spacious, and in the small kitchen, we found everything we needed for breakfast. The owner is very attentive and punctual to the requests of the guests. We will definitely return. Nearby, there is a convenient unguarded parking lot where we can leave the car. The bus stop is practically adjacent to the building, and it is easy to reach the center of Turin. The quality-price ratio is qualitatively in line.

A cozy apartment! Well taken care of in detail, very clean, nothing is missing, it feels like being at home. Excellent location for those like us who needed to be close to the Polytechnic. Starting with the fact that Emanuela has proven to be a really kind, courteous, and helpful person, I can confidently say that the guesthouse is among the best places I have stayed at lately, considering everything and especially the quality/price ratio. Nothing is missing at all; Emanuela's attention to detail is truly high: all imaginable toiletries are present, the items for breakfast, although packaged (as per regulations), are varied and abundant, and the kitchen is equipped with everything. Furthermore, the fact that you can have the apartment all to yourself by booking just one room allows you to be very comfortable, since the bedroom is very spacious, in addition to the separate bathroom and kitchen. The cleanliness was truly impeccable (rarely, if ever, have I found such clean places) and the spaces are well organized to have surfaces for placing items and wall hooks, which I personally find essential. The only downside, but which does not depend on the owner, is that since the apartment is located near a main road in Turin, it can be noisy at night, but at the same time, despite being in a semi-central residential area, you are really close to many bus and tram stops, which makes it strategic for moving into the historic center or even out of the city. I absolutely recommend it; Emanuela is a host who really cares about her property, and you can see it!

Emanuela is precise and knows what hospitality means. The apartment is very well maintained in its shabby style. There is everything you need in the bathroom as well as in the kitchen. From the hairdryer to the iron, from soaps to towels, from pots to coffee cups and if each room allows the two guests to have breakfast in the kitchen, we did it on the little terrace with a stool, chair, and trolley. Attention to smokers (ashtray on the terrace) and to recycling. Fridge stocked with fresh water, yogurt, milk and juices and butter; coffee barley, tea, honey, jams, nutella, biscuits, plumcake, individually packaged but fresh tarts. Elevator. It is not in the center, but with a bus you are there and the Polytechnic is a stone's throw away. The popular, multi-ethnic neighborhood is well served by small businesses as well as supermarkets and local markets, which in Turin are truly an experience. There are plenty of typical trattorias and bars, outdoor meeting places, cinemas, and ethnic cuisine. We will return and thank you for everything.

Very nice apartment, attention to detail, clean and fragrant thanks to the fragrances of Erbolario. Mrs. Emanuela very nice and kind, willing to advise us on places to visit and means of transportation, very convenient to have the Tram stop right outside the house. It was pleasant to come back in the evening to such a cozy home, comfortable bed, new and freshly washed linen. Varied and quality breakfast. For guests, samples of creams, hygiene products, and a beautiful gift are available, a calendar and samples all from Erbolario. It was a pleasant stay and with emotion we left a dedication in the memory book that I hope to read again one day and therefore return.

Really cute and well-kept guesthouse in every detail: warm and welcoming like the host Manuela. The tram stop right below the house is a real convenience to reach the city center in a few minutes. The supplies of Erbolario bath products and self-service breakfast products to be enjoyed in the small kitchenette like yogurt, milk, herbal teas, tea, coffee, high-quality sweet products, etc., are very much appreciated and well taken care of. Highly recommended for everything!

We stayed at this beautiful bed and breakfast with my boyfriend. Starting from the furniture to the cleanliness and friendliness of Emanuela, I really have nothing to complain about. I highly recommend it also for the excellent opportunity to park for free in an area below the apartment. Good value for money. Comfortable house and very spacious rooms. Clean and equipped with everything you may need. The landlady is very kind and extremely helpful, she spoils you with numerous "courtesies for guests". The property is in a rather convenient position to reach the center and is in a quiet and peaceful area. Another positive point is the presence of a large non-paying parking very close.

La cura del dettaglio vuole farvi sentire la mia discreta presenza e la sensazione di "casa". Il Politecnico è proprio lì, ci si va a piedi e in effetti parcheggiare non è un problema sia perché in questa zona è ancora gratuito sia per la presenza di un ampia area di parcheggio libera, non custodita che si estende tra Via Osasco e Via Paesana. I had the fortune of staying at the Retromantico from May 5th to 8th with my family. I have never seen a place so clean, fragrant, furnished with extreme taste and with the availability of every delicacy to start the day with a more than abundant breakfast; add to this the friendliness of Emanuela, the hostess, and you will have a vague idea of what it means to stay at the Retromantico (practically at home). Not to be overlooked is the fact that the B&B is surrounded by free parking, and not spending a single euro to park the car is really not a negligible detail.

I have been there twice already. The place is very nice, for breakfast there is plenty of choice and the hostess is very kind. Bus stop right outside the house and free parking 100 meters away.

I stayed at this property in late September with my daughter. The welcome and availability of Emanuela, the owner, and her fantastic dad together with the attention to detail in the house and the care reserved for guests, from the welcome gift to the excellent breakfast, from cleanliness to the furnishings and scented linens make this B&B a splendid accommodation solution with an excellent quality/price ratio. The public transport stop, which takes you to the center of Turin, is right under the house, which is very close to the Politecnico. It is the ideal solution for a family or even a group of friends as Emanuela makes the entire house available, which does not have to be shared with strangers. Retromantico.

A wonderful place, tastefully decorated in retro style. The lady is extremely helpful and very kind. The breakfast is super abundant, there is really everything and all delicious. The price is convenient, lower than other Turin B&Bs that sometimes offer less in terms of service quality and breakfast. My choice of this solution was linked to its proximity to the Polytechnic University and, for this purpose, it is an excellent solution. If instead you were looking for a solution to visit the city, the center is about 25 minutes on foot or just take bus 33 in front of the house and be at Porta Nuova in 5 minutes. Long story short, it's a truly splendid place and I highly recommend it. In the end, it is significantly better than many other places in Turin that also require a higher price. The only flaw is the lack of wifi but maybe if you were to request it from the manager, a solution could be found, I didn't need it and didn't request it.

As can be inferred from the scores assigned, my level of satisfaction can be understood. Almost everything is perfect. If one really wants to find a single flaw, it is only the fact that there is no bathroom available in all the rooms and the lack of Wi-Fi. For the rest, the structure is very clean, tidy, and welcoming. It is located in a strategic place, suitable for students and business travelers. The owner has a courtesy, punctuality, manners, and availability (in giving information and instructions) that are unique. Always smiling and in a great mood. Beautiful B&B. The location is not the best but it is well connected with many buses, moreover it is very convenient for the Polytechnic. In fact, I took a double room because I had to take the engineering test at the Polytechnic. For breakfast there is a huge variety of food and the cleanliness is excellent. Great attention to detail (for example, there was a huge selection of Twinings tea and numerous shower gel samples). I certainly cannot overlook that Emanuela was very kind and always available.

Retromantico is a property that hosted us for two nights: the B&B is taken care of in every detail thanks to the love that the owner, a kind and very available person, puts into everything she does. The quality to price ratio is definitely very advantageous. The rooms are furnished with care for every little detail in a unique and highly appreciated style, the breakfast is plentiful and includes a delicious cake prepared by the owner. The location is not very central but the bus stop is right outside; on the other hand, for those like us who had to go to the Polytechnic, you could not ask for better! The owner provided us with invaluable information to get around the city, allowing us maximum freedom during our stay. We strongly recommend it; we, for our part, will definitely return soon!

For four people it would have been perfect, but even for us who were three, it was a stay with a very high quality-price ratio! The attention to detail, the cleanliness, the legendary soft lemon cake, and the friendliness of the owner are, in my opinion, the strengths of the B&B. For a family of four, like ours, the structure is perfect. It is tastefully furnished and welcoming. The rating for breakfast would be more than 10. There are parking options without problems, and the structure is served by public transport. Everything is fine.

Fabulous place! Beautiful! The owner is a sincere, kind, and courteous person; the house is very clean and well arranged. Love permeates every room and every little detail is taken care of to perfection! I was very satisfied with everything. The breakfast was abundant and quite good. The only two flaws I can find are: the location is not very central, but not in the suburbs either (the price is proportional to the location of the property) and the shared bathroom, which becomes practically nonexistent if you book in low season when it is unlikely to meet other people (it happened to me that way). I want to emphasize that the property surprised me very positively! Highly recommended!

I discovered the B&B Retromantico while browsing the internet. I stayed there for study reasons and found a delightful place. It is located in the quiet San Paolo neighborhood, very convenient to reach from Porta Nuova train station. In fact, bus number 33 makes a stop practically right at the door. The apartment is on the second floor of a building with an elevator. Welcoming environment, retro and romantic decor chosen with originality by Emanuela, the landlady, a very kind and exquisite person. Impeccable cleanliness and order. Breakfast with a variety of foods and drinks, and also homemade cake. A functional and pleasant place to feel at home.
