Description

A few minutes from the magical Lake Orta, Bed & Breakfast Melizio is an old stone mill where lovers of peace will be won over by the charm of the simple things and the wild nature of a territory to discover, away from the big tourist circuits.

Surrounded by a large garden crossed by a stream, the B&B Melizio is the ideal place for those looking for a relaxing holiday in a simple and familiar environment populated by many animals. Dogs and cats live in the house, but can not enter in the guest area.

The Melizio offers accommodation in 3 double rooms (single beds in addition on demand), each with private bathroom, free wi fi internet, access to the quaint wooden balcony overlooking the garden.

The rooms provide an intimate atmosphere, with simple but evocative environments, characterized by warm colors, wooden floors, mezzanine floors, roof beams and stone walls.

Special attention is given to the breakfast, particularly rich and cared for: fresh fruit, organic jams, local honey, cakes and biscuits crafts, local products are served, depending on the season, in the lounge, with the warm atmosphere of the stove, or in the outdoor seating area, with beautiful view of the garden.

In B&B Melizio, electricity and hot water are produced with photovoltaic panels and solar thermal.

NB: we recommend our B&B only to those who love animals and tolerate their presence in the house.

What has united us is our love for nature and the desire for a home with plenty of land to cultivate our dreams. Our search led us to discover an old abandoned stone mill, which we fell in love with at first sight. We brought this house back to life and preserved its magical surroundings, while building our dream step by step. We surrounded ourselves with many animals, often in need, who enrich our days and have contributed significantly to creating a peaceful and serene corner, away from stress and frenzy. Since 2006, we have decided to share with our guests the charms that this small world can offer.

Area countryside

The village is equidistant (15 km) from three towns equipped with all services (hospitals, shopping centers, banks, etc.).

Lake Orta, already a charming place with tourist attractions, is also close to other tourist districts such as Valsesia, Ossola valleys with the Valgrande National Park (Europe's largest wilderness area) and Lake Maggiore, all within a 20-30 km radius.

To get here, by car, you need to exit at Borgomanero or Gravellona Toce on the Ge Voltri-Gravellona-Sempione highway and follow the signs for Lake Orta. Once in Gozzano, continue towards S. Maurizio d'opaglio where you must reach the "Pianelli" area. The Bed & Breakfast is located right in this area, along the road that connects Pogno to Pella, near the bridge over the "Scarpia" stream.

By public transport, you can reach San Maurizio with buses from Borgomanero, Borgosesia, and Omegna, all towns reachable by train.

Once in San Maurizio, get off near the parish church: the B&B Melizio is 300 meters away.

We had already been to Mela and Maurizio ten years ago and have never forgotten this wonderful accommodation. Now we spent another week here and were again delighted by the hospitality, the great breakfast, the house and the garden - it is a little paradise. We really enjoyed the tranquility and peace of this place, the stream that flows through the property, the many animals, and the many loving details that can be seen everywhere. A few minutes by car away is a very nice public bathing area with a view of the island. We made many excursions in the nearby area, and Maurizio was always there to help us with advice and tips, giving us many great suggestions. We will definitely be happy to return.

Such a wonderful place to visit. Maurizio is such a wonderful host. He gave us amazing recommendations and made our visit so special. The property is cozy and welcoming. Our room was very cozy and you can tell they put a lot of care into their home. The breakfast was wonderful, we even had an egg sandwich with fresh eggs from their chickens (YUM!). The property is within walking distance from the lake and a quick drive from many local attractions. If you are visiting Lake Orta, I can't recommend this place enough. Hope I can return soon.

A charming place! The B&B is located just minutes from Lake Orta, in a strategic position: the house is wonderful, very well maintained, nicely furnished, and comfortable. Charming, historic, renovated with an eye for details, a true gem run by wonderful, mindful, supportive hosts, a great garden/outside area, serving breakfast one could never forget. The interaction was beautiful. This accommodation has that special vibe, it is authentic, kind, exceptional - easily top 5 (we have been around Italy quite a lot I would say). As for the region: somehow magical, dreamy and not suffering by overtourism, which in essence is reflected here superbly. We will be back for sure! A big thank you very much to Mela and Maurizio!

A great stay always starts with a warm welcome and Maurizio and his wife make you feel like you are old friend returning to their home. It is the perfect place, slightly off the path to enjoy Lake Orta without being overwhelmed by tourists. The grounds are peaceful, the four-legged residents are a joy to be around. Amazing breakfast, great locally sourced products and homemade baked items and fruits from the farm. Book early, limited number of rooms, and this is a place once people discover they always come back. We only stayed two nights, wish we had time for more. If you are flying into MXP and need a few nights to adjust to Italy after a long flight, it is a short drive and great start to your tour of the lake region and beyond.

Personally, I loved the high ceiling of the room, the wooden details, and the sweetly rustic decor. The Melizio is a small gem just a few minutes from the beautiful Lake Orta. I still can't decide what I loved most about our stay: the stream running in the middle of the garden, the geese wandering undisturbed or its creators and owners. You will be welcomed by a young couple with a kindness and availability that are unique and rare to find. In the morning, you will be pampered with a rich breakfast, which never lacks the homemade dessert and a cutting board with typical local products (cold cuts and cheeses, if you love a savory breakfast). You can enjoy all this while listening to the roosters singing and observing some sly cats strolling around. In the evening, you can relax in a room whose strength lies in the attention to detail, the love that has been put into placing each object is the secret recipe that will prevent you from wanting to leave such a beautiful place. Simply a magical place! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

A piece of paradise. We really enjoyed our stay at B&B Melizio. An old water mill, with wonderful colorful rooms, view of the beautiful garden, together with the animals and in nature you relax, everything goes a bit slower as the Italians say piano piano. Breakfast with organic local products, delicious. The hardest part was having to say goodbye to this little paradise, and especially to Ragu. We will definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this beautiful structure immersed in greenery. The only downside was having to leave. The rest exceeded our expectations starting from the warm welcome of the owners and their wonderful furry friends, especially Giulio. A top-notch breakfast, abundant and with typical specialties and delicious homemade cakes. Cozy room and very comfortable bed. Spacious bathroom with a large bathtub. We had an amazing - but too short - 2 nights stay at Melizio. The property itself is very charming: a lush garden populated by happy animals (goats, fluffy chicks, sympathetic dogs, many cats as well as a recently arrived donkey) and through which a small river flows. Everything in the house and the rooms is decorated in the spirit of the old house's architecture and feels homey and cosy. The hosts are most welcoming and do their utmost best to help you enjoy your stay. Maurizio helped us arrange a fishing day, gave us recommendations for places to eat and things to do in this beautiful area. And the breakfast is simply amazing! Fresh fruit, veggies and nuts from the garden, local cheese and cured meat, a range of biscuits, and each day a specialty: panna cotta, small sandwich. We were in heaven! The property is located not far from the lake, but best to have your own car to explore the surroundings. Our only regret was to not be able to stay longer. One thing is sure, we will come back!

Beautiful country house immersed in nature managed by two very kind and helpful people, perfect for two days of complete relaxation. The permanent guests of the property are dogs and cats that will ask for some cuddles from time to time, while the awakening will be accompanied by the rooster's crowing and many other animals. Breakfast with the owners is abundant and familiar with many local delicacies. Highly recommended, thank you for everything.

I had the fortune to spend a wonderful weekend in this B&B immersed in nature and inhabited by splendid animals. The owners, Maurizio and Mela, are two wonderful people. Not only did they provide us with very useful advice to explore the area, but they even prepared a cake for my birthday, served as a surprise at breakfast, already fantastic and rich in typical and homemade products. The room was something magical: furnished to the smallest details with great taste and simplicity, using natural or recycled materials. It is framed by a splendid stone wall and a magnificent bathtub surrounded by candles and salts. What can I say, we felt at home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Maurizio and Mela, we will come back to visit you.

Unfortunately, we could only stay for one day, but we will definitely come back!\nMela and Maurizio and their wonderful animals welcomed us with warmth and friendliness in a dream place! They pampered us with a room full of simple, but effective small details made to make you feel at home. In the morning, we were greeted with a wonderful breakfast with fresh fruit, delicious cheeses and cold cuts, and homemade sweets with the taste of yesteryear. I have never seen my daughter eat so much, only to then run outside to explore the surroundings and meet all the cute house animals. The location is great, on the road, but not too much, a stone's throw from the important destinations around Lake Orta. See you soon!

The most beautiful B&B I have ever been to. First of all, the welcome they reserved for us was splendid. The location is splendid, for the sounds and scents of nature, from the woods to the stream. We stayed at the B&B Melizio during the B&B Day 2014 and it was a truly wonderful weekend. Maurizio and Mela welcomed us warmly and made us feel truly at home.
