Description

Il Picchio is close to Lake Mergozzo, the meeting point between lakes and mountains, between Ossola and Verbano. A very good starting point for many mountain hikes (Val Grande, Mottarone, Monte Rosa, Val Formazza…), as well as for several excursions to sees (Lake Maggiore with Borromeo Islands, Lake Orta with the Island of S. Giulio, Villa Taranto, Arona, Stresa, Verbania, the near Switzerland…).

At disposal of our guests there are two pleasant and comfortable rooms. They have private entrance and own bathroom with wide shower and hairdryer, kettle with choice of teas, minibar, wi-fi, heating.

In the morning you will have breakfast on the wonderful lake_ and mountain_view balcony or in our breakfast room.

A lakes view lawn in the middle of the wood and the quietness of nature waits for you for a nice rest in every moment of the day. The garden has deck-chairs, table and chairs, BBQ, children's playground.

Our warm family atmosphere together with discreet and attentive hospitality are our best way to welcome you: see you soon!
We rent also 2 apartments: please ask for more information!

Each morning a delicious buffet breakfast is ready for you. Maurizia makes it with care and love! On the buffet you can find various types of bread, butter, jam, Nutella, honey, cereals, yogurt, cake or cookies, fresh fruit, fruit juice, water, tea, coffee, milk, cappuccino, hot chocolate.

You can taste local and biological produits too.

No additional cost for ham, cheese and eggs.

Breakfast is served on the outside balcony, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of lakes, mountains, village, and forest, or in our breakfast room.

Hello! My name is Maurizia and I have been living in this house since I was 4 years old, first with my parents and my sister Michela, and now with my own family. The Picchio is a dream that started in 2007.

Since then, many things have grown, starting with my family, which now consists of 4 people: me and my husband Giovanni, our children Giulia and Lorenzo.

And then there's Maggie, our border collie dog, sweet, affectionate, and very lively.

I am a cheerful person, curious but at the same time reserved.

I love the mountains and I really enjoy walking, traveling, reading, and listening to music. I have a passion for gardening and desserts, which I both enjoy cooking and eating!
I feel truly lucky to have been born and raised in this area and in this house, and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world! I will be really happy to share all this with you, see you soon!

Located in a charming position with a view of the village of Bracchio and the lakes. An oasis of tranquility immersed in greenery. Spacious room, essential and harmonious furnishings (very comfortable bed), with small details that make the environment nice and even more pleasant. Access guaranteed even in the absence of the owners. Excellent breakfast with homemade and local products. Friendly and caring owners, very discreet but ready to meet every request or curiosity.

The place is fantastic, immersed in silent nature with a stunning view from the relaxation area. The room is spacious, well-furnished, clean, and the bathroom with shower as well. Maurizia is very kind, attentive, and gives great advice. The breakfast is plentiful and with fresh products. Lake Mergozzo is not far, 5 minutes by car. Definitely worth going back.

Very beautiful quiet location with a view of the lakes from the garden. Maurizia is an extremely friendly and thoughtful host who takes care of the guests and serves a wonderful, rich breakfast. Just a few minutes' walk away is a nice trattoria (Il Risottino; definitely make a reservation).

The B&B Il Picchio is a true haven of peace. The warm host Maurizia prepares a wonderful breakfast on the balcony table every day. With a view of the Mergozzo and Maggiore lakes, you can enjoy all sorts of delicacies and the first rays of sunshine, receiving helpful tips from Maurizia along with delicious homemade jam. You are spoiled for choice: swimming in the clean Lake Mergozzo, strolling by the nearby Lake Maggiore, or hiking in the wild Val Grande National Park. Or simply relax in the large garden. A great place to recharge your energy!

We have been to Lake Mergozzo more than once, but at the B&B Il Picchio we felt better than at home. It is a lovely place with a stunning view over the entire lake. The hosts are very skilled and courteous, even our little dog felt comfortable, breakfast. Better to try to believe! Excellent.

Very nice hosts, good breakfast. Ideal location between the Val Grande National Park and the west coast of Lake Maggiore. Also, the small village of Mergozzo is quite nice with some little streets and some restaurants on the lake side.
