Description
Cadebei consists of two apartments located in an old residence with access through a courtyard shaded by a beautiful wisteria. The house, recently renovated, keeps the charm of its original features and is surrounded by ancient buildings in the upper part of the pedestrian area of the historic village of Gonte.
To reach it, you need to walk up a stepped path ***which may be challenging for people with reduced mobility***, but once you arrive you are rewarded with a unique atmosphere of silence and peace. From its terraces you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore and the roofs of the surrounding houses, in a quiet and atmospheric area.
Facing south-east, Cadebei offers the beautiful sight of the sunrise reflecting on the lake and filling the house with light throughout the day.
It is an ideal starting point for excursions to nearby villages and woods, and the lake can be reached on foot in about ten minutes along easy paths leading to quiet, welcoming beaches.
At Cadebei we have an excellent Wi-Fi connection but no television.

We are Julia and Mario. A few years ago, we left the big city, moved to Oggebbio, and bought this ancient village house, which today is our joy and pride.
We have completely renovated it, trying to preserve its original features as much as possible.
We continue to take care of it personally, paying attention to every detail and constantly working to improve its comfort and amenities.
We put all our passion into making holidays at Cadebei a beautiful and comfortable experience: we are always present upon arrival, ready to help with luggage and eager to offer the best advice for enjoying Oggebbio and its surroundings. We live just five minutes away, and during the stay we are always available in case of need or emergencies.
Cadebei gives us the joy of meeting new people and making them feel welcome and at ease, offering them a pleasant and unforgettable holiday.
*** Besides Italian, we speak fluent German, French, and English, and a bit of Spanish.

Oggebbio and Lake Maggiore
Overlooking the blue waters of Lake Maggiore, Oggebbio is a collection of small historic hamlets scattered along the mountain slope, with steep alleys, ancient stone houses, Romanesque churches, and sudden openings onto the lake.
In the village you’ll find a small shop offering fresh bread and milk, excellent local cheeses and cured meats, fruit, vegetables, and all basic necessities. There is also a pharmacy, a welcoming bar, and a wood-fired pizzeria with a wonderful lake view: everything you need for a comfortable holiday, even without a car.
Excursions and nature
Oggebbio is an ideal starting point to explore some of the most fascinating landscapes of Piedmont and nearby Switzerland.
Right around Cadebei you’ll find several easy and very pleasant trails, perfect for a relaxed walk: short paths connecting the area’s small hamlets, crossing shaded woods and offering beautiful views of the lake and the village of Gonte. These are walks suitable for everyone, ideal for enjoying the tranquillity of the area just a few steps from home.
From the centre, you can reach the quiet lakeside beaches in a 10-minute walk.
Nearby, in Ghiffa to the south, stands the beautiful complex of SS. Trinità, a charming Baroque sanctuary overlooking the lake, surrounded by the greenery of its Sacred Mountain, with splendid views and a lovely restaurant under the trees.
Val Grande
A few kilometres away lies Val Grande National Park, the largest wilderness area in Italy: a kingdom of silence, deep forests, and panoramic trails.
Val Canobbina
The evocative Val Canobbina is perfect for walks among ancient bridges, mule tracks, and small stone villages.
Swiss valleys
Across the border open the enchanting valleys of Canton Ticino, such as the Centovalli and the Val Maggia, famous for their picturesque villages, turquoise streams, and natural pools perfect for a summer swim.
Val d’Ossola
To the north lies Val d’Ossola, with alpine scenery, the medieval centre of Domodossola, the thermal baths of Premia, and charming places like Macugnaga and the “Via dei Torchi e dei Mulini”.
Treasures of Lake Maggiore
The lake offers an extraordinary number of places to discover, all easily reachable from Oggebbio.
Borromean Islands
Boats from Verbania or Stresa allow visits to:
Isola Bella, with its Baroque palace and terraced gardens
Isola Madre, an open-air botanical garden
Isola dei Pescatori, a charming village suspended over the water
Santa Caterina del Sasso
Another jewel of Lake Maggiore is the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso, an ancient monastery perched on a cliff above the lake: atmospheric, panoramic, and easily reachable by boat or by car via the Intra–Laveno ferry.
Intra and Pallanza
Just to the south lie Intra and Pallanza, the two souls of Verbania:
Intra, lively, full of shops, markets, and restaurants
Pallanza, elegant and flowered, famous for the wonderful botanical gardens of Villa Taranto
Other lake towns
Nearby you can explore other charming destinations:
Cannero Riviera, with its castles rising from the water
Cannobio, with its lakefront and characteristic Sunday market
Stresa, refined and romantic, gateway to the islands
Ascona and Locarno in Switzerland, two delightful towns full of culture, promenades, and excellent cuisine
Whether you love hiking, historic villages, botanical gardens, or simply peace and unforgettable views, Oggebbio and Lake Maggiore offer the perfect mix of history and nature, always ready to surprise.
