Description

The small village of Limonetto, located on the Italian side of the 'Colle di Tendà along the ancient Roman Road, sits at an elevation of 1, 300 meters. It is surrounded by regional and national parks and is situated directly on the GTA, Via Alpina, and GR52a trails.

This destination is ideal for summer outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Just a few hundred meters away, a vast network of old military dirt roads begins, stretching from the Colle di Tenda all the way to the Ligurian Riviera along the French border.

In the winter, visitors can enjoy alpine skiing at the RISERVA BIANCA ski area, while the surrounding mountains are perfect for snowshoeing and ski mountaineering.

The double room features a private bathroom and a separate entrance to the outside.

We welcome dogs of all sizes.

In the village there is a bar and a grocery store.

What makes the difference in most places you stay in is the host, or in this case the hosts: Walter and Anja Maria. I was scheduled to take the 10:45 from Ventimiglia to Limone (a strike put paid to that), then the 14:45 (which broke down before it started) and finally the 18:45 - which got me there eventually. Throughout the day I was reassured by Walter that either a bus or that he/Anja Maria would meet me at the station and bring me to the accommodation - which they did. The accommodation was excellent, few beers, good night's sleep, excellent breakfast, good chat with Walter/Anja Maria - both very fluent English speakers and very friendly. A lift from them to the Colle di Tende in the morning was a great start to a 6-day trek of the GTA back to Ventimiglia. It's the hosts that make the difference!

We stayed at the Country house Patatouc. Our children were the first to stay here; however, it is a very nice place, appreciated also by the children. The owners are super friendly and helpful. This refuge, frequented mainly by hikers of the GTA, is located near Limonetto, but just outside the center. All comforts are available and the owners provide dinner and breakfast. The owners prepare dinner with love and attention to detail. It is a fantastic place to relax.

For backpackers, the price of accommodation is rather on the upper limit; however, the rooms, the terrace for the aperitif, and the super modern shower are of absolute top quality. The host personally picked us up on foot in front of the church, as the Gîte might be a bit difficult to find without knowledge of the village. The next morning he arranged a taxi for us to Limone. In total we were 4 people. Cost of the taxi Limonetto - Limone Station per person 5 EUR. Direct connection Limone with the Tenda train to Ventimiglia and then to MONACO. 25.07.2023 Katharina.

Arrucador is a wonderful and so pleasant mountain lodge: the welcome is so nice. Valter and his wife are very nice people doing everything to make your stay unforgettable. It is located around 1 kilometer from Limonetto: you are really "in" the mountain with tremendous landscapes. I do recommend Arrucador. We have had an excellent stay at L'Abric Limonetto. The welcome and care of the owners Anja and Walter has just been incredible. The room was spacious and very comfortable, the location of the lodge is spectacular and the food exceptional. We definitely will come back in the future.

Anyone who happens to be in the area (even in winter, but much better in summer) should stay for at least one weekend in this property. Anja and Valter alone manage this corner of paradise with care that cannot fail to impress; top availability, hospitality, and cuisine!\nAndrea and Silvia.

I spent 5 nights at Arrucador and I can only report positive things, the kindness of Anja and Walter, the atmosphere in the Chalet, the interior design, simply outstanding, oh yes, Walter's cooking skills. All in all, top rating, only the access to the Chalet, here one should be aware, either you drive a decent SUV or an Enduro, otherwise you won't make it up and you leave your vehicle in the parking lot in Limonetto, below the hotel. Walter will pick you up there.\n\nThe extraordinary and superb location of the Chalet in the midst of the mountains brings that with it. I will definitely go back.

We are a young couple, we were looking for the mountains, romance, nature, and comforts to make this stay unforgettable, we found them all here. Mr. Walter, omnipresent, and Mrs. Anja met our idea of 'mountain' making us feel in a family environment. Rich and varied breakfast, aperitifs with delicious olives, 5-star dinner.
