“AL SAN MICHELE” is right in the heart of Stresa, the pearl of Lake Maggiore, in a very quiet area, at the beginning of a little road by the church of San Michele and a short distance on foot from the beaches, shops, restaurants and the boat station from where boats depart to visit the famous Borromean Islands.
A nice walk brings you to the Villa Pallavicino which is surrounded by a magnificent park with many animals.
The surroundings offer also some routes for bike lovers and footpaths for pleasant excursions.
Also the wonderful background of the mountains is easily reachable.
AL SAN MICHELE has 4 rooms which are 1 on ground floor, 2 on the first floor and 1 room on the second floor without lift.
All the rooms are decorated in a modern and elegant style offering every comfort.
Each room is complete with free Wifi connection, air conditioning, private bathroom equipped with hairdryer and courtesy items.
A minibar and kettle with herbal infusions are available.
Some rooms have a small balcony and/or a private terrace where you can relax.
The guesthouse is an old building remodernised that cannot offer space for children and the disabled persons.
Unfortunately it is not possible to accept pets.
The guesthouse has no private parking facilities, but we are situated a few meters from the lakeside where there are parking places both free and on payment.

after having had a family run business of a restaurant in the historical square of Stresa, I renovated this house between 2020 and 2021 to make
a comfortable informal environment, so that people feel at home.
I like to get to know my guests and if they wish, I’m pleased to offer advice on places to visit, restaurants and various activities that our area offers, between Lakes Maggiore, Mergozzo and Orta to Mottarone and the Ossola Valley which make our territory one the most desirable in the world.

A short walk away are the beaches, the shops, restaurants and all the services, including the Boat Station where boats depart for the famous Borromean Islands, the Monastery of Santa Caterina del Sasso and other areas of the lake, such as Verbania Intra with the Villa Taranto and its English style park and as far as Ascona and Locarno in Switzerland.
A pleasant walk takes you to the Villa Pallavicino surrounded by a magnificent park with many animals.
The surroundings offer also some routes for bike lovers and footpaths for pleasant excursions.
From Stresa you can reach the Lakes of Mergozzo and Orta with it’s fascinating Island of San Giulio.
You can also go to Mottarone, the mountain above Stresa, from where you can see a fantastic panorama over seven lakes and enjoy a ride on the track of Alpyland.
On the way to Mottarone you can stop off to visit the Alpinia Garden, 40. 000 sq meters of a natural balcony where a relaxing rest offers a view over Lake Maggiore and observing many alpine plants including blue gentians and to quench one’s thirst at the mountain spring available by the garden.
All around, the Ossola Valleys, offer a variety of itineraries to mountain enthusiasts with walks on footpaths which climb into an uncontaminated area of nature which dominate the entire territory, with Macugnaga and the imposing east Himalayan wall of Monte Rosa, the Valley Formazza with the spectacular waterfall of the Toce river and the Thermal Springs of Premia, the Valley Vigezzo knows as the valley of painters for the many landscape artists and portaiture, the National Park of Val Grande, wild and rugged in which is located the Mother Quarry of the Milan Cathedral at Candoglia, the Natural Parks of Alpe Veglia e Devero and upper Valle Antrona.
A great excursion to make is the “Lago Maggiore Express”, a daily circular journey, which can he made in both drections by boat on Lake Maggiore and train through the Centovalli and the Valley Vigezzo.
From Verbania Intra you can reach by the boat Luino, where there is a nice market on Wednesdays a magnet for many tourists.
In addition, the Associazione Settimane Musicali di Stresa organises every year, between July, August and September, the “Stresa Festival” offering musical events of high artistic value in many different prestigious locations.

The accommodation is very centrally located, city center and lake are reachable in a few minutes on foot. Rooms lovingly furnished, quiet, large and very clean. Marisa is very friendly and helpful (she covered our bikes in the courtyard with plastic so they wouldn't get wet from the rain), got information about good restaurants. Anytime again.

This was one of my favourite B&Bs. The room was clean and easily accessible up a flight of stairs. It was comfortable, with enough room for luggage and a good sized bathroom. The location was perfect. Literally only 5 minute walk to the lakeside boardwalk and the boat booking office. In less than 5 minutes there were at least 3 or 4 little cafes that offered breakfasts. So you can sit on a patio and enjoy the morning sun with your breakfast. In the other direction after a few minutes you are in the main town square with a great choice of many good restaurants for dinner or lunch. The host was in her office most mornings and was always very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend staying here.

We felt very comfortable and absolutely missed nothing! The small B&B is centrally located yet quiet in a side street near the lakeside, where there is also a large parking lot. All localities are reachable within a few minutes. Everything was spotlessly clean, the room was also very tastefully and practically furnished. The double bed was large and comfortable, there was a desk and a small refrigerator, and the small stylish bathroom even had a bidet. We found the owner Marisa to be a very friendly, empathetic, and interested host, which is why we can recommend the accommodation with a clear conscience. Note: Communication took place in English.

The guest house is located in a strategic area, very close to the docks and the lakeside with several bars where you can have breakfast (although the one recommended by them was excellent). It is central but without the hassle of the center. Brand new room, impeccable cleanliness, spacious bathroom with comfortable shower and hairdryer. Small terrace and courtesy set with water, herbal teas, biscuits. Marisa is a very kind host. I will come back.

Everything was perfect. This is a little gem. Clean rooms, lovely bed, and Marisa was so kind. The accommodation is in the center of the village and only has 4 rooms, all of which are nice. So quiet, no traffic. We only stayed 4 days and wish it was longer. Thank you so much Marisa. Al San Michele.

Marisa is a very friendly and helpful hostess. From arrival to departure everything went great, we received a door code and the remaining information via email, so we entered our room without any problems, where there were already 2 bottles of water, some snacks, tea, coffee, milk, sugar and there was also a kettle. The room and the bathroom are spacious, tastefully decorated, everything still almost new and above all very clean. It was perfectly cleaned every day by a super nice cleaning lady. The location is absolutely top, right in the center and just a few steps to the lake. We were guests for 5 days, with enough storage space for our clothes and the rest of the things we carry around. We had room number 4 and can recommend it without reservation.

The structure has recently been renovated. It is a very beautiful building next to the church of San Michele, a stone's throw from the lake and the center. Inside everything is new, tidy, and clean. Marisa is a very welcoming and generous person. It was a truly pleasant stay. We will return to Marisa, it is our desire.

We stayed for three nights. The room recently renovated, very cozy and clean. The central location in the town is convenient to make the most of the services offered by the activities and the embarkation for the visit to the beautiful islands. Mrs. Marisa always kind and very helpful, made us feel at home. Very positive and appreciated holiday. Structure to recommend.
