Description
Sibilla Ospitalità welcomes guests in the heart of Visso, amidst landscapes that seem to be suspended between legend and nature. The valleys of the Sibillini mountains, accessible through the gorges of Valnerina or the Fornaci pass of Marca, offer scenes of rare beauty, where forests, mountains, and silences create an almost fairytale atmosphere. Here, the stay transforms into an experience that resonates with the slow pace of the Apennines, amid trails, untouched views, and stories rooted in the history and myth of the Sibyl.

The establishment encourages an authentic experience of the local area: at dawn, guests embark on excursions in the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains, traversing green valleys, ancient paths, and peaks that hold the allure of the famous cave of the Sorceress Sibyl. Upon returning, the atmosphere becomes intimate and friendly during the dinners at the Home Restaurant, where local flavors and travel tales intertwine over a glass of wine.

Visso still retains the charm of a mountain village rich in history and spirituality. The bright squares, stone architecture, and the profile of the tower silhouetted against the sky evoke timeless images, while the Sibillini Mountains form a natural amphitheater of extraordinary beauty all around. Sibilla Ospitalità is the perfect starting point for those wishing to immerse themselves in the nature, traditions, and the most captivating legends of central Italy.

Our guesthouse is dedicated to caring for the people who visit our town, offering them a warm welcome and hospitality. This is an ancient, centuries-old tradition in Vissano, stemming from the passage of countless travelers who, journeying through the Valnerina, crossed the Apennines on their way from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Adriatic Sea—and vice versa.

We are a family-run business and strive to do our best while honoring this tradition.

Memory seekers and art lovers will find in the upper Valle del Nera, with Visso at its center, a historical and artistic heritage that is over a thousand years old. Don Ansano Fabbi writes in the book "Visso and its Valleys" (1964) : "Before Visso existed, not only did the 'humbled Numidian horses' of Hannibal in 217 BC ascend the Valnerina, but in the 3rd century, the light of the Gospel arrived from the Spoleto valley, and in the 5th century, along with the fierce troops of the Goths, came the aura of austerity of the Syrian Hermits of Monteluco. Later, during the Lombard invasion, the Benedictine reconstruction program spread: 'Ora et labora', and finally, with the formation of the free Commune in the 13th century, and with it the discord 'of those closed behind a wall and a moat', the Franciscan serenity of 'Pax et Bonum' irradiated. "

There, under the protection of the papal keys, small communities and confraternities were formed, which, along with the old towers, have withstood the storms of centuries. Within its medieval walls, in the center of Visso, the "Pearl of the Sibillini Mountains, " there is one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, where Renaissance palaces and churches with Romanesque-Gothic facades in local carved stone overlook.

In the Sant'Agostino museum, in addition to the treasures of art from Visso, the original Leopardian manuscripts are kept, which include: 6 Idylls, including "The Infinite"; 5 Sonnets; The Epistle to Carlo Pepoli, The Preface to the second edition of Petrarch; 14 Letters. They were purchased by the Mayor of Visso Gianbattista Gaola Antinori on the proposal of October 19, 1868, by Prospero Viani, Principal of Lice Galvani in Bologna. The price requested, and paid personally by Mayor G. B. Gaola Antinori, was 400 lire.

Visso is also the headquarters of the Monti Sibillini National Park, where trekking and biking itineraries start or pass through to discover an uncontaminated environment, which the shepherds of Visso have helped to pass down to us: "The Great Ring of the Sibillini Mountains, " "The Park on Mountain Bike, " "Franciscan Path of the Marca, " "Path through the Changed Lands, " "Via Lauretana, " and "Path of the Capuchins. " The earthquake of 2016 wounded the city, but not its beauties.
