The location of the apartment was perfect and our hosts could not have been more helpful and accommodating for any of our requests. The welcome we received was excellent and the historical property we stayed in was amazing and comfortable. The breakfast supplied each morning was great - fresh fruit, local pastries and good Italian coffee. The atmosphere of the town was busy but the sites were all within easy walking distance and we managed to visit most for the 5 day stay. The local restaurants were lively with a good atmosphere and service - in particular Lo Scalco Grasso and Sucar Brusc stood out. The Ducale Palace was well worth the visit with so much to see and take in. I would highly recommend the property, especially our host Claudio who was happy to book/advise on the local area and looked after us all so well for our stay.

I cannot recommend the Palazzo Arrivabene B&B highly enough. From the moment you arrive and are welcomed by the wonderful Luciana (whose home this is) you know you are in for a very special stay as she leads you to your accommodation through a succession of magnificent rooms (the chandeliered entrance salon with its huge fireplace and frescoed shallow dome has to be seen to be believed!). The enormous bedroom I booked ('Camera degli Sposi') is beautifully decorated and furnished in period style, with sofa, easy chairs, desk and gargantuan wardrobe; the adjoining en suite bathroom is large and well appointed. Guests eat breakfast together at a long table overlooked by another impressive fireplace; there is an excellent choice of food, including a variety of meats and cheeses, fruit, delicious fresh pastries, local speciality cakes (e.g. sbrisolona/crumble cake) - and, if you're lucky, Luciana's home-made cheesecake! For relaxation there is a handsome sitting room, where the coffee tables are piled high with books on Mantovan art and architecture to excite your interest. The main tourist sights are all within a short walking distance (or bus ride), and if it rains or gets too hot you can always retreat to one of the many bars and cafes under the street porticoes. There are plenty of good restaurants to lunch/dine at. To wrap up this five star review, your hosts (Luciana and her son, the multilingual Claudio) are exceptionally helpful, warm and friendly and do everything they can to make your trip to Mantova a memorable one. If I come back to this lovely old city surrounded by lakes, I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else!

Beautiful Palazzo Arrivabene B&B, worth paying a bit more for. Charming hosts were very helpful. Excellent breakfast with delicious cereals, cakes, croissants, and fruit, and good coffee. Comfortable room high up in the building, although the lighting was a bit gloomy. The amount of stairs would be a problem for people with mobility problems. Quiet location, which made it easy to walk into the beautiful city center.

The only observation: it is advisable to update the website by removing the images of the TV in the room. TV is not actually available. Otherwise, it's a great accommodation in the city center, close to many tourist areas.

It has been a pleasure for us to arrive at this lovely private Palazzo. The whole family (mother, daughter, son) has welcomed us in a very pleasant way. This warm feeling stayed over the complete time of our residence of three days. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and nicely decorated in a way you would expect in a Palazzo. The breakfast served at a long table with customized specialities and unexpected attentions, so that we started the days already with a good mood and enjoyed the city and the cultural places of Mantova. Exquisite owners in a charming environment. I love these places that exude history and art. We enjoyed three nights at this lovely B&B in Mantua. The house is beautiful with many original features including a stunning painted ceiling and intricate fireplaces. It really is something special. Our room was on the same floor as the dining room and lounge. It was spacious and provided us with everything we needed. The breakfast was ample. We were made to feel very welcome. It was a very nice place to stay.

I stayed for two days at the Palazzo Arrivabene B&B with my husband and son. Exceptional welcome from the owner. Maximum kindness. Very well-maintained ancient palace. The interiors are fascinating. Attention to detail, delicious and plentiful breakfast with freshly prepared cakes. The city tour began by admiring the palace and conversing pleasantly with the owner about the artistic beauties that Mantua offered. Highly recommended.

Charming historic palace, convenient location near the center, fantastic breakfast (fresh milk, homemade bread and pastries), cakes and chocolate prepared by the very kind lady who also gave us a lot of historical information and tips on places to visit, comfortable bed and spacious and quiet rooms: that's why I like these delightful surprises of B&Bs.
