Alessio Monti, a young graduate in "Animal Production, Food and Health" at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Milan.
Pet Therapist and owner of the Bed and Breakfast La Fiorente, has always been passionate about animals and nature, during his university career he decides to take up, once graduated, his business creating a multifunctional structure in which to encompass: tourism, livestock, crafts and social.
Apparently unrelated to each other but strongly connected within our structure, in fact "La Fiorente" was born as a Bed & Breakfast therefore offering an overnight stay and a breakfast to tourists interested in our activities, passing through or simply to people eager to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Thanks to its proximity to the A7 Milan - Genoa motorway, we are able to be in close contact with people from the major cities of Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria, offering an alternative experience, natural and unique of its kind just a few steps from the city.
Animal Welfare is a very important and important theme in our project, our will is to transmit to children, teens and adults, the passion for the animal world and offer a concrete reality in which the animal is bred for a purpose, in our case the production of yarns, respecting the welfare and needs of this.
Our breeding includes to date:
- Cashmere goats
- Mohair goats
- Angora rabbits
- Merino Sheep
All animals are reared according to the principles of respect and welfare: nutrition designed for each species, adequate shelter, large enclosures and veterinary care provided by specialized veterinary surgeons.
From the breeding of our animals we obtain the raw fiber, which, after an initial cleaning on the farm, is sent to small Italian spinning mills.
The choice of processing in small companies stems from the desire to follow the fiber produced by our animals throughout the spinning phase, which includes washing, drying, degreasing, carding and fialtura. In fact, small companies guarantee the return of the fiber sent, doing so we only process the yarn that we know to come from our center.
The yarn is the protagonist of our craftsmanship, we make clothing ensuring the origin of the raw material and ensuring a product entirely realized in Italy from Italian animals.
At our structure you can rediscover the ancient art of manual spinning, of dyeing with flowers and plants and of weaving, following the thematic courses and didactic projects that will be held during the year.
The last point of the project concerns Pet-Therapy. Fortunately, in recent years this issue has begun to arouse the interest of people and institutions leading to the drafting of the NATIONAL GUIDELINES, a set of directives that clarify how to apply the Pet-Therapy and the recognitions needed to exercise it.
A fundamental point of the National Guidelines concerns the formation of a multidisciplinary team to be able to offer a service aimed at every type of need.
Our multidisciplinary team includes:
- Psychologists S
- Dog trainers
Very important figures who cover the roles of: Contact, manager and co-author of our projects.
Thanks to the ample space available, to the room dedicated to this activity and to the availability of our collaborators, we are able to offer targeted services both with conventional animals such as Dog, Cat and Rabbit, and with alternative animals such as Alpaca, Goats and Sheep.
