Description

La Casa Della Seta is a newly renovated 200-year-old silk house situated in the picturesque historic village of Viano above the popular town of Tremezzo on the western shore of Lake Como. It’s the perfect location if you love peace and quiet but are also close enough to all the attractions of the Lake. The house has four ensuite bedrooms, two with large balconies and all with the amazing lake view. From the property you can see Villa Balbianello, Villa Sola, and Villa Lucertola.

All of our guests are welcome to enjoy a continental breakfast in our dining room, which overlooks the garden and offers stunning views of the lake. Coffee and tea are available for our guests throughout the day, and breakfast is served from 8: 00 to 10: 00. We are committed to providing a selection of fresh and filled croissants every day, sourced from a local bakery. We also strive to obtain all our food from local suppliers, allowing our guests to savor the exceptional meats, cheeses, and breads characteristic of the region.

Home Restaurant

A set two course meal with coffee is available each evening (except Fri/Sat/Sun) for 35€ per person. This is offered to guests every morning at breakfast or on the morning of arrival and guests can book. We have a range of wines which guests can purchase for their meal.

Ash and Summer are excited to welcome you to their home. After many years of searching, we discovered an old, tired, neglected, and gray silk house on a hill, and now, following a complete renovation, it is ready to host guests. When not managing the bed and breakfast, Ash continues to lead the international charity – Adventure Aid UK, bringing many years of experience in assisting groups in remote areas of Asia, so you'll be in good hands by the lake! Summer still works as a lawyer while also assisting Ash, and both of them enjoy welcoming guests to the lake and helping you make the most of your vacation.

From our previous reviews, the main comment is undoubtedly the view. To fully appreciate this stunning panorama, however, one must be situated at a higher elevation than the lakeshore. Nevertheless, we are just a 25-minute walk from excellent bars and restaurants (5 minutes by car), and there is a small trattoria in the village. Almost all the eateries serve delicious pizzas and pasta, with lakeside bars offering fantastic spots for wine, meat, and cheese. Of course, we are also near the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, which features the ‘T Bar’ and ‘T Beach,’ perfect for special occasions.

The mountains are located behind us, and the lake is in front, providing numerous walking trails, including the Greenway, Monte Crocione, Capelli degli Alpini, San Martino, and the Sanctuary of Madonna del Soccorso. If you're in the mood for a hike, we can provide trekking poles—just ask.

From the lakeside in Tremezzo, you can catch the ferry to the city of Como and the famous lakeside villages of Bellagio, Menaggio, and Varenna. From Varenna, you can take the train to Milan or Tirano and then board the ‘Bernina Express’ to St. Moritz. Whether by foot, boat, train, or car, there's so much to do that one vacation simply won't be enough.

Glory days at Casa della Seta. We enjoyed six wonderful days and the exceptional hospitality of Summer and Ash at Casa della Seta. From the very tasty breakfast with regional products and an incredible view of Lake Como, we were well looked after. There was prosecco on arrival, and drinks were offered every time we returned in the afternoon. On weekdays, Ash can cook dinner in the evenings, and you can enjoy the peace and the lovely garden space with an excellent meal. If you prefer to go out to eat, Ash even offers a shuttle service. Parking is easy and free on the outskirts of the village. It is then only a short walk to the house. On arrival you are picked up and assisted with your luggage. We will gladly return to this special place away from the hustle and bustle of Lake Como.

This has been by far the best place we have ever stayed. The rooms are immaculate, the location is perfect, and Ash and Summer are such fantastic hosts. Ash and Summer went out of their way to help us wherever. I stayed here for four nights with my partner and we loved waking up every single morning not only to the view of Lake Como, but also to the breakfast spread. Yum. This is perfect for anyone travelling to Lake Como. Thank you Ash and Summer for having us!

I had a fabulous week at this property. The views were amazing, and because it's positioned slightly up the hill and away from the lake, it is very peaceful. Eating breakfast each morning in the garden is surely the best start to the day. The hosts, Ash and Summer, were very attentive and were able to offer several suggestions for places to visit.

The Casa della Seta has four very cozy rooms (two of them with balconies) and is located in a very quiet little village above Lake Como. This four-day holiday will remain unforgettable! We are still completely thrilled about the incredibly wonderful time we spent there with the hosts and the other guests. Our time with the hosts Ash and Summer was unique! We have never experienced a guesthouse run with so much love and dedication. The two are very attentive without being intrusive or annoying. They clearly enjoy bringing joy to their guests. We will miss Summer's charming smile and lovable manner as well as Ash's wonderful cooking skills. There is a three-letter word that says it all: "WOW!". Many thanks to Summer and Ash.

We had a wonderful time with Summer and Ash. Here we started our road trip through Italy. The room is beautiful, gorgeous and has a nice balcony where we were immediately offered a drink. The casa is set back a bit from the road but Ash is happy to help carry the suitcases up. I liked that the hosts contacted us via WhatsApp about the arrival. He even booked a small restaurant for us where we ate very well. Villa del Balbianello is recommended: you can walk there. On our second (and only full) day we took the boat to Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna. A one-day ticket is 17 euros. Ideal so you don't have to queue at every port. The casa has a small garden where you can have breakfast and also relax in the evenings. Summer and Ash are very helpful, interested and know the region well. It was fantastic in this old silk factory.
