A warm welcome awaits you in our family home set in a quiet, secluded location with beautiful views of the lake and Alps and within easy reach of Lugano and Milan.

We try to satisfy all our guests’ requirements with an ample and varied breakfast: bread butter jam honey yoghurt fruit juice cheese ham fresh fruit homemade cake coffee tea hot chocolate. This is served on the terrace weather permitting otherwise in our homely ‘tavernetta’.

My name is Eleanor. Originally a maths teacher from Glasgow but since 1988 I have been living with my Italian husband Adriano on the shores of Lake Como. Several years after we moved into this beautifully located house above Menaggio the opportunity of opening a Bed and Breakfast arose and with Adriano’s support, Balcone Fiorito was born. Together along with my son David we aim to make your stay memorable and0 David's extensive knowledge of the area will truly enhance your holiday.

Our family home is just above Menaggio, and is in a tranquil situation with magnificent views over Lake Como and the surrounding mountains, and within easy reach of Lugano, Milan Bergamo and St Moritz. Boats, ferries and buses from Menaggio allow you to visit all the villas, gardens, churches and quaint villages around the lake. Boats and kayaks can be hired in Menaggio. In our village of Croce there is the golf course of Cadenabbia, a padel court and a pumptrack. For those looking for other outdoor activities there are numerous walks and hikes for all abilities, cycle tracks, access to various water sports and a great diversity of rock climbing to be found around the lake.

The rooms were very clean. The host, David, was very helpful and friendly. He recommended restaurants nearby and reserved tables for us. He also gave us many useful tips. As a native Scot, he speaks perfect English. The B&B is located on the mountain in the Croce neighborhood, has a lovely garden with loungers and garden tables and chairs and a great view of the lake. It is a quiet idyll compared to the many people down by the lake. We felt very comfortable.

The owner's son was very kind in providing us with a lot of information to visit the surrounding area better, as well as great suggestions on where to eat. We definitely recommend it!

A very friendly and warm welcome. An impeccable room and a very well-kept decoration. But a car is absolutely necessary as it is located on the heights of the city. I highly recommend it for the setting and the kindness of the family.

We loved our stay at the Balcone Fiorito BnB and are so sad we couldn't stay longer than 1 night! Eleanor and her family were very welcoming and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the view is ridiculously beautiful - we were lucky enough to have good weather so we had a generous breakfast out on the balcony, which was a lovely way to say goodbye to the property. If we returned, we would 100% come back!

Excellent welcome from Eleanor and David. Spacious, very comfortable and very clean room. Garden very flowery as indicated by the name of the site. A very beautiful view of the lake and the city of Menaggio below. Breakfast is served outside on the terrace facing the lake weather permitting. Located in Croce about 3km from the city center, no parking issues. Highly recommended.

Mrs. Eleanor is a truly exquisite and kind person, who prepares a homemade sweet treat for breakfast every day. She then treated us as if we were family, in a B&B surrounded by greenery and with a fantastic view of Lake Como. I absolutely recommend it.

It's the small details that make your stay memorable: coffee and tea offered when you arrive weary, a hostess and her son who welcome you like family and take the time to engage with you, guidance to places you would have missed, like nearby trenches dug in WWI and a fabulous hilltop restaurant you never would have found on your own. Yes, Balcone Fiorito also provides comfortable rooms, easy parking, breakfast with fresh baked treats on a lovely garden terrace that frames a spectacular lake view. All of these amenities at a reasonable price should make this B&B your first choice for a stay in Menaggio. I simply cannot say enough for Eleanor and David's hospitality. They welcomed three generations of my family, ranging in age from 5 to 80, and made us feel at home. Other guests were clearly relaxed and enjoying themselves, making the atmosphere all the more pleasant. I hope to return someday.

My family and I stayed in a two-bedroom accommodation with the most amazing view of the local village of Croce and beautiful Lake Como. Our hostess Eleanor and her son were wonderful - very personable, friendly, and always on hand. We were spoiled at breakfast with Eleanor's homemade pancakes, cakes, and breads. Eleanor's son was also on hand to provide good local insight. It was a pleasure to stay and I would recommend it to anyone - couples and families alike.
