.... you pedal suspended above the blue sea, a feeling new and exciting. After a long stretch on a slight slope begins to descend, the bottom is always very loose but fun at a crossroads the desire to jump headfirst down a track that descends to Varigotti is so great, but my track makes me turn to the right, to take the legendary "Toboggan", another highlight of freeride Finale: the trail is nice and smooth, but above all a lot of fun, a continuous lean from one bank to the other

Torre del Mare is a fraction of Bergeggi in the province of Savona.
It was founded in 1954-1955 by the architect Mario Galvagni and Mr Peter Tizzoni, with the support of the administration of the municipality of the same name, as a result of an architectural competition organized by Tizzoni itself, in which the architect Galvagni, winner, was chosen and commissioned directly by the promoter (owner of the areas) to play the Urban Planning and architectural principles to be followed Ecology of Form (GestaltEcologia). Tools that were adopted for the construction of a residential complex in tourism receptive complete infrastructure (roads, footpaths, water supply, lighting, planting new vegetation, being the original completely barren promontory) shops and common services.
It is formed as a complex of houses, villas, condominiums, for the use of second home, shops, pensions, on the slopes of the hills in connection with the border between the municipalities of Bergeggi and Spotorno, which forms the promontory overlooking the Tower of Ages 'Bergeggi Island.
The complex was built mainly in the fifties with the initials of the architect Galvagni architectures and in the sixties. Reflects the various architectural styles of the time. The houses follow one another without ever emerge from the street level to preserve the panorama view to the valley and to the sea. They are set within gardens, built by the owners themselves, along the way, created at the time of Torre d'Ere that goes up the hill with hairpin bends that follow the contour lines in harmony with the ancient paths to connect the village of Bergeggi and, with a subway dell'Aurelia to the sea. In particular there are some examples of architecture morphologically adapted to the territory (see the principles of Ecology Form) occupying the rock cavities and following the curved hills, or reflecting the typical Ligurian terraces, through the work of various architects including Mario Galvagni.
On the summit of the hill is the Tower of Ages, ancient watchtower of Roman origin in a strategic position at the height of the promontory, which is matched by a similar observation post on the summit of the island of Bergeggi. During the building of Torre del Mare, artistically detect this relationship between hill and island were placed two sculptures in welded iron wire of which is representative of a goat, is located next to the Tower of Ages. The other, representing a shepherd playing the flute commonly known as the "Pied Piper", is situated on a spur of rock island are both the sculptor-painter Pippo Consuls who initiated them on commission from the Embers. In addition, a third stone carving of a female figure representing Final (Art) looking toward the island is Galvagni who carved on the spot and placed on a shelf on the wall of the building at the entrance of the Aurelia, which originally was the residence and offices of Embers and Galvagni.
At the bottom of the hill, towards the west, is the complex "Merello" dating from the nineteenth century, now a residential complex, once used as a summer colony for tubercular children, who could benefit from the sea air, the mild climate and the sun for restoring the body weakened by disease.
The village is also immersed in the Regional Natural Reserve of Bergeggi, which includes the stretch of coast and sea surrounding the island and overlooks the gulf from the promontory itself through the ancient Roman road that runs along the ridge, reach Capo Noli, in a series of wide beaches and craggy cliffs overlooking the sea.

History of the Island of Bergeggi.
The Bergeggi Island is a small island in the Riviera di Ponente on the stretch of sea between Savona and Spotorno, opposite the town of Bergeggi, just a few hundred meters from the end of a small peninsula of Punta Predani. The island, which is part of the Regional Natural Reserve, has a rocky coast that rises from the sea up to 53 meters in height.
Thanks to the important characteristics of the bottom from the biological point of view, the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, established in 2007 as a Marine Protected Area (MPA), the Isle of Bergeggi and all surrounding areas.
On the Island of Bergeggi there are many historical and archaeological sites, in fact, are found the remains of military and religious buildings such as the ruins of a small early Christian church of the V-VI century and those of a Romanesque building with two aisles of the eleventh century. Always go back to the Middle Ages the remains of a tower with a square base, which rests on a circular retention Roman origins. Exactly opposite, on the mainland, there is another very similar tower, called the Tower of Ages, which is thought to be part of the same system of defense. Some scholars argue that the Ligurian island in ancient times was connected to the mainland by a narrow spit of rock that the waves have destroyed with time, but this is only a probable hypothesis.
Diving on the Island of Bergeggi.
In the Island of Bergeggi there is a large variety of fish.
the Isle of Bergeggi was declared AMP (Marine Protected Area) in the year 2007.
Ideal place for interesting dives.
The depths are suitable for a real school and gym underwater (you can achieve various levels of patents from '"Open-water" up to the level of "Divemaster").
The seabed around the island is characterized by walls and slips of boulders with numerous cracks that create a habitat of great interest from every point of view and everyone deserves to be explored.
I remember the three main points: the Gully and the Franata the Pied Piper.
The Gully is a vertical rock face or between -15 and -25 meters.
The cliffs are completely colonized by "sea daisies" (parazoanthus), the color mostly yellow.
Shining a flashlight inside the cracks we find: conger eels, moray eels, scorpion fish, lobster and grouper all surrounded by clouds of damselfish.
In spring it is easy to make close encounters with the monkfish.
To the west the slope is much more gentle and on the plateau are observed tube worms, anemones and numerous colonies of bryozoans (small animals aquatic invertebrates that live in colonies branched submerged and anchored to a substrate) by the color red.
Then there is another group of rocks sloping down to about -30 meters until you get to Franata.
The Landslide occurs with rocks covered with sponges and many variously inhabited burrows, especially from polyps.
In addition to species of fish described above, where live many nudibranchs commonly called "nudibranchs", from the typical white color with dark circular patches.
We find large shoals of bream swimming together dense and compact so it looks like a wall from which you can not see beyond.
Continuing our dive we get to the wall of the Pied Piper.
The Pied Piper has a maximum depth of -18 meters to arrive almost at the surface and is the ideal starting point for interesting diving without difficulty, addressed to all, even to beginner divers.
Here we find a wall with a small cave inhabited by numerous species of fish such as bream, looks, damsels, mullet and sea urchins.
Ultimately for all divers interested in looking at the fish, soak the Isle of Bergeggi is definitely a place indicated that gives beautiful experiences and satisfaction.
