Description

Our bed and breakfast “Casa Aurora” is situated right in the city center of Genoa, close to the Cathedral and “Palazzo Ducale” (the Duke’s Palace), the Acquarium and just behind “Porto Antico” (the Old Port), from where you can leave for wonderful daily trips by boat.

Our bed and breakfast is on the top floor (5th) of an ancient Palace (dating back to the sixtenth century - Palazzo Basadonne De Franchi) without elevator.

The stairs are made of marble and slate, the local stone.

We have two double rooms each one with private bathroom, rooms have air conditioning.

Bright living room with books, chessboards and also a piano.. but no TV. WiFi is available

Manuela, the owner, is very kind and available for every need. She is always attentive and smiling. The B&B is in the city centre and located inside a historic building. It is a few minutes (no more than 10) from everything. The only drawback is the stairs: the property is on the fifth floor with no elevator. The stairs are not very stable and the steps change size and incline as you go up. In addition, there are steps to reach the room and steps inside the same room to reach the bathroom. These last ones are very annoying: narrow, steep and dark like the building's stairs. In the morning, when you are still groggy from sleep, they are dangerous; I almost broke my neck. I do not feel like giving a negative rating, on the contrary. But it remains a problematic B&B.

Le scale del nostro palazzo sono in marmo e ardesia. L'ardesia è la pietra nera locale che caratterizza non solo gli scaloni ma anche i tetti di palazzi e chiese del centro storico. In questi palazzi si alternano piani dai soffitti alti anticamente abitati dalla nobiltà e piani dai soffitti bassi, abitati dalla servitù. Per questo motivo l'andamento delle scale alterna rampe più ripide a rampe più dolci. La visita di Palazzo Spinola di Pellicceria (Museo Nazionale) può essere utile per capire come erano organizzati i palazzi dell'epoca. Riguardo i 4 scalini in ardesia che portano in bagno abbiamo deciso di recepire la sua nota e abbiamo applicato una banda antiscivolo nonostante non ci fosse mai stato segnalato alcun problema nei 20 anni in cui siamo attivi.

Everything is perfect: the owner's kindness, comfort, cleanliness, a large comfortable bed, and a very varied breakfast, etc. But it's a 15th-century palace and there are 113 steps to climb. It's really worth it, but there are five floors to climb.

I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Aurora. Manuela was a lovely host. The property is cosy, clean and full of charming historical details. It is excellent value for money, and the location in the historical centre is very convenient. Of course, the stairs would be a challenge if you have mobility issues, so do keep that in mind. Otherwise, a great choice.

Beautiful and well-maintained apartment. I rated the property a 9 only because it is on the 5th floor without an elevator, so not accessible to everyone, but it is truly worth it for those who can manage. Manuela, our host, was delightful from the welcome to the goodbyes and gave us excellent recommendations for local trattorias. Principe station is two metro stops away, but it is also reachable on foot with a pleasant walk. Since I need to return to Genoa, I hope to stay at Casa Aurora again.

Everything as described, Mrs. Manuela is helpful and courteous. Excellent stay, with the services we were interested in at hand. Of course, the stairs to climb to reach the accommodation make it not for everyone, but those who can reach the destination will be rewarded with a beautiful view and a tranquility that you do not expect in the historic center!

Beautiful, comfortable, central structure. An added value is the owner, always kind and helpful, with a sincere and never affected courtesy and hospitality. The only "flaw", if it can be called that, is that the room is located on the 4th floor without an elevator, but it is certainly not the responsibility of the structure as it is a historic building and obviously subject to architectural constraints.

The structure is located in the city center, in an ancient building full of charm, furnished with care and attention to detail. I stayed for two nights in a double room for single use with an en-suite bathroom. Manuela was very kind, very welcoming, and available. The cleanliness was excellent. The absence of the elevator fits perfectly into the context and the effort to reach the top is more than rewarded. Recommended.

Historic palace in the center of Genoa. The house is beautiful, bright and charming. The level of cleanliness is excellent and this makes the stay very pleasant. We had a great time, Casa Aurora is beautiful and exudes a sense of beauty. Comfortable room, with a very lovely retro atmosphere, comfortable bathroom, clean and with a very invigorating shower. I really care about finding a clean and well-functioning bathroom and this is the case! The bathroom has no window, the room is perfectly isolated from noise. The host was very polite, nice, and helpful, helped us find a dry cleaner in advance, which we needed one day, left us the availability for breakfast, leaving us coffee and pastries, even though not expected. The only tiring thing was reaching Casa Aurora on the top floor, after many stairs, just to say that you get a bit out of breath! But as it comes, it goes!! Convenient location, a stone's throw from the port, the Aquarium, the nightlife, and delightful shops! It took us 20 minutes on foot from the station with a backpack, very doable. All very pleasant, I recommend it and thank the host so much.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Aurora with Manuela. She also speaks English and was very caring with us. The 5 floors without elevator are worth it for the comfort of the room and the view from the breakfast room on a Dome! You will feel like in a palace! There is no breakfast service but Manuela provided us with everything we could need with fresh products (fruit and yogurt!) and the essentials for breakfast. Thank you Manuela! PS: for future visitors, if you come by car, do not confuse the parking lots: - Marina Park: 15€/24h - Park Marina - Porto Antico: 2€/h! We ended up with a hefty amount! We got the parking names wrong are very similar. You are warned 🙂.

The bed and breakfast is in a historic building, large rooms with a lot of charm and in a fantastic location, 2 minutes walk from the Old Port and convenient to the main attractions and restaurants in the city. Top rating for a courteous, smiling service and for the super quality-price ratio! Central location that couldn't be better, under Casa Aurora you will find everything within a few steps. Genova center is beautiful and lively in the evening. I stayed only one night to attend a meeting at Palazzo Ducale. The discreet and jovial owner is a delightful and pleasant person. Highly recommended!

Fabulous host, fabulous place. Would definitely stay again.\n\nManuela really made our holiday in Genoa. And her place is amazing. The room is comfortable and quiet. It has air conditioning and WiFi, all great. The B&B is a 5-minute walk to San Lorenzo Cathedral and 5 minutes in the other direction to the harbor. Perfect for exploring.\n\nThe B&B is in a 16th-century building on the 5th floor. It is also close to some great restaurants which Manuela recommended. Plenty of pesto to try.\n\nThe breakfast was lovely as well; croissant, focaccia, yogurt, bread, cakes, juice, tea, and coffee.\n\nIf you are staying in Genoa and want a true flavor of Italy and a lovely host, Casa Aurora is just the ticket.

Manuela was the best host you can imagine: always there for any kinds of questions, had great tips, took time to explain and show everything, taught us some Italian - she was simply great. Breakfast was delicious! A nice buon giorno, focaccia, bread, croissants, jam, butter, and so much more. The apartment and the building is so beautiful and absolutely worth walking up to the 5th floor. You have everything you need and you are close to metro, port, shops, nice churches or piazzas, shopping streets, panorama view points and more. We took the chance to visit 5 Terre - so worth it! I had a great time. Casa Aurora, historic building, centrally located. Impeccable cleanliness. Very refined furnishing style. Rich breakfast. Above all, the kindness and availability of the owner, Manuela, who even helped me carry the luggage up 5 flights of stairs by foot (truly the only weak point, but only for those with mobility issues), deserve special mention. Overall, I found everything very comfortable. Highly recommended!

Manuela was a fantastic hostess. The apartment was beautiful and the room/bathroom was very clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was wonderful and ready whenever we wanted it to be. The apartment is on the sixth floor, with no elevator - something to be mindful of when considering booking. Manuela provided us with excellent restaurant recommendations and local attraction information and was extremely kind and welcoming. Definitely recommend a stay at Casa Aurora!

We had an excellent stay and could not recommend this B&B highly enough. The owner made us feel at home and everything was perfect. The breakfast was excellent and the location ideal if you want to discover the old city. The B&B is located in an old historical palace and it may not suit those with reduced mobility because there is no lift, but that is more than compensated by the charm of the place. Excellent value for money.

I stayed with my husband in this beautiful and historic Casa Aurora, located in the center of Genoa, from which most city attractions can be reached on foot. These are ancient environments, well renovated, which have preserved the sumptuousness and elegance of a bygone era without sacrificing the comforts and technological conveniences of today. A particularly positive note goes to the lady who welcomed us, with great cordiality and willingness to meet all our requests, to whom our unconditional gratitude goes. Her kindness made us feel truly comfortable and will forever mark the memory of this beautiful city. What else to say? Impeccable cleanliness, excellent breakfast, fully satisfying value for money. Perhaps the only difficulty is the lack of an elevator which makes the climb to the top floor quite strenuous, especially for us who are of a certain age, but, being a historic building, it is completely normal.

2 wonderful days: Casa Aurora B&B is well-kept, full of charm, and strategically located to discover Genoa. Manuela was a perfect host, she gave us all the useful information (even before our stay, contacted via email!) and allowed us to still use the room after check-out since it was not occupied. Pity about the lack of an elevator in the building, which clearly cannot allow everyone to use the facility (located on the 5th floor). After the first climb, though, you quickly get used to it, so - unless there are specific physical problems - there is no hesitation in booking! I don't think you can easily find a structure with a similar quality-price ratio in the area (especially during the Euroflora period).

We had a great time, Mrs. Manuela is very kind and caring for every need. The breakfast is full of sweet or savory goodies, including coffee with the moka pot or with pods. Casa Aurora, the room, and the bathroom are very clean, maximum freedom to come and go. The location is great to go anywhere including the metro to reach the train stations. Definitely recommend except for people who for some reason cannot do stairs.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay in this B&B with Manuela and her family (who live in the apartment above). Casa Aurora is amazing. Set in the Old Town, with a fabulously old front door, entrance hall and stairs - so authentic and beautiful. I had the whole floor to myself - a spacious living room with interesting artwork, mosaic floor and high ceiling, a lovely bathroom, with a great shower, bidet, etc. My bedroom, dining room and kitchen - with tea and coffee when needed. I walked everywhere - to the conference center on the docks (porto antico) and into the center of Genoa.\n\nManuela was lovely - so helpful and pleasant, with a wealth of information. She simply came instantly when I asked (there is a call bell) - to provide my breakfast and attend to anything I needed.\n\nI couldn't recommend this more. Such a refreshing change from a faceless hotel.

The five flights of stairs, moreover in splendid vintage slate, lead to an accommodation full of art and good taste, elegant and welcoming. The icing on the cake, the sweetness of Mrs. Manuela. If you arrive by car, it is advisable to unload your luggage in via Turati, at the corner with via San Giorgio.

We had a really great time. The Casa Aurora B&B is in a strategic location with respect to the aquarium and the city center (it's a 10-minute walk). The owner is very kind, very helpful, and always smiling. Our room (the one with the private bathroom) was very spacious. The only downside this place can have is that it is on the fourth floor without an elevator.
