Vatican City, the smallest internationally recognized independent state in the world and the majestic St. Peter's Square located directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica where the Pope recites the Angelus prayers every Sunday. Inside the Vatican you can admire the Sistine Chapel entered via the Vatican Museums. Close to our B&B you will find via Cola di Rienzo, one of the most famous shopping street in Rome, where to go shopping in the most prestigious brands. Moreover, you can reach the Tridente area (the complex of roads formed by three straight streets of Rome departing from Piazza del Popolo) and visit the entire historical center of Rome, enjoying the main streets of the capital such as VIA CONDOTTI, VIA BORGOGNONA, VIA FRATTINA and all the area adjacent to the beautiful PIAZZA DI SPAGNA (Metro line A station "Spagna". In the middle of the square you can admire the fountain sculpted by Bernini (Fontana della Barcaccia) and the Spanish steps which lead to the church of the Santissima Trinità dei Monti which create a refine and fascinating eighteenth century atmosphere. Just around the corner you can admire the famous PANTHEON, a Roman temple dedicated to all the gods of pagan Rome and the most preserved and influential building of ancient Rome.
You cannot miss the famous Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi) placed near Via Veneto, the street made famous by the cinema of Fellini, which was the hot spot during the ‘dolce vita’ period and you can reach it by Metro line A station “Barberini”.
An absolute must see is the Colosseum, originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the largest amphitheatre in the world. It is situated in the city center of Rome. it is estimated, that it could hold between 50, 000 and 80, 000 spectators and was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles. The Colosseum is the most imposing monument of ancient Rome and it is well-known all over the world as symbol of Rome and of Italy. You can reach it in 20 minutes by Metro line B: take the Metro line A station “Ottaviano-San Pietro” till “Termini” station and then the Metro line B and you will reach the “Colosseo” station after just 5 minutes. Nothing could be easier!
