La Torre Rossa

Let us introduce ourselves, we are Ernesto, Mauro, Fiorella, and Rodrigo. Our small family-run business takes great pride in offering you the fruits of our labor, which we cultivate and manage with a deep respect for the land and nature in general. Fiorella and Rodrigo take care of the gardens, orchards, and olive groves, while Mauro and Ernesto focus on hospitality, catering, and serving at the Torre Rossa.

The idea for this company came from Mauro, who made a life choice to move from Rome to Itri for a more human-scale lifestyle and a closer connection with nature, in contrast to the beautiful but chaotic capital. Initially, only Fiorella was involved in direct cultivation, but with the restoration of the ruins and the start of the "La Torre Rossa" project, all family members became involved.

The restoration work began in the spring of 2003, after repeatedly rejecting ideas and advice from those who proposed a new and modern construction to take advantage of the large volume. However, Mauro always refused this possibility in favor of conservative restoration, understanding immediately the importance of this place and its preservation. This proved to be the most suitable and above all, the most evocative choice, precisely considering the great history that came to light.

Our philosophy has always been focused on the re-evaluation of local products and uniqueness, always with an eye to the past for the recovery of precious traditions, often proposing them in their original form. We have a deep empathy for the nature that surrounds us, and for this reason, we respect its cycles and maintain its balance. For example, our crops are strictly seasonal, and we only use organic products to produce them, such as the fertilizer provided by our three donkeys, Ramona, Dora, and Paloma, who also help us keep the surrounding land clean.

With this project, we aim to spread the knowledge and flavors of our territory, from the Roman era to the present day, with all the contaminations that have enriched us over the centuries. Therefore, we try to offer an experience for all the senses, to give those who stay at Torre Rossa the opportunity to live a unique experience in contact with the nature, history, and traditions of our territory.
