Rocca di Fondi is a charming historic village located just 5 km from Antrodoco, nestled along the slopes of Monte Nuria (1, 880 m). With its distinctive spindle-shaped layout, it is an authentic example of rural architecture in central Italy: at the top lie the church dedicated to the Madonna Assunta and the main square, the vibrant heart of the community. The narrow, steep streets seem carved directly into the rock, offering picturesque views at every turn.
Until the early decades of the 20th century, Rocca di Fondi was an independent municipality; it became a hamlet of Antrodoco following the reform introduced by Joseph Napoleon, King of Naples, in 1808.
The village can be reached via a scenic road winding through lush forests of chestnuts, beeches, oaks, and coppice woods, where Turkey oak, manna ash, and hazel trees also grow. The undergrowth is rich in mushrooms, and sunny clearings are dotted with sweet wild strawberries. Continuing along the path, the Piscignola plateau opens up, enhancing the natural beauty and tranquility of this unspoiled area.

Our family of four with small children loved our stay. We stayed for Easter. The sun shone throughout our stay and the daily temperatures were about 20°C. The house stayed nice and warm with the pellet stove. It felt like we had the whole village to ourselves. Such a beautiful place with plenty of access to walks in the woods. I can't say enough good things about our stay.
