The only downside is the very small shower box and the very small entrance. It was difficult to get inside the shower tray. Everything else was very positive, except for the breakfast which consisted of simple snacks.

I stayed for 1 night after the concert. I would have liked to take a shower as soon as I got back, unfortunately there was no hot water, I don't know why. Honestly, I would have appreciated being notified, I didn't call the manager because it was 2:20 AM, maybe I should have done that.

A modest, clean place. Its strong point is the location near the Vatican and the metro.

It's an old building where you need 4 keys to get to the room :) but it's spacious, clean and lightened. The host is very helpful. I liked it.

The cleanliness, especially of the bathroom, was poor. The bidet was wobbly and detached from the floor. The toilet paper holder was broken. The bathroom cabinet was full of dust and very dirty inside. Then, when they write breakfast included, I expect a breakfast with fresh croissants, cappuccino, coffee, water, juice. Here, there was a coffee machine in the hallway with packaged croissants and not even branded ones, coffee with capsules of an unknown brand, no milk. I paid a lot for such an establishment. Very disappointing.

Ideal location to go to the Vatican area and close to the Ottaviano metro.

Great location but the room was poorly maintained, the furniture was old and broken, the windows were difficult to close, the bathroom had a tiny shower and there was no hot water for the bidet. There was a bad smell in the room that wouldn't go away, I slept with the window open.

We stayed for 2 nights. We took 2 rooms. Room n.1 and room n.3. As for room n.1, I would say everything is fine regarding the cleanliness of the room, comfort of the beds even though the pillows are too high, it would be good to put a couple of low pillows in the wardrobe so that the customer can choose based on how they are used to sleeping. At night, total silence, so you can sleep well. Breakfast... We preferred to have it at the bar below the house, the one offered by the B&B is really poor with packaged snacks and a cake taken from some discount store. As for room n.3: The bed was broken, 2 towels, although undoubtedly clean, had a hole in the middle. For the rest everything is ok, clean room, bathroom idem. In conclusion....room n.1 ok, value for money (even though I had breakfast in the bar) and strategic location 5 minutes from the Ottaviano metro stop. Room n.3 would be ok if the bed were replaced.

Room very clean, Thomas very kind and helpful, location of the establishment very convenient. Breakfast made of snacks and instant coffee, better to go down to the bar. Bathroom comfortable and clean. Mattresses and pillows absolutely need to be changed, old, sagging, and very uncomfortable.

Considering the place where it is located, the minimum cost for one night, for breakfast with 5 euros you can go to the pastry shop, for me it is worth it. I have 2 nights, that can work.

My boyfriend and I spent a night at Caterina al Vaticano and we had a great time. It is quiet and very close to the Ottaviano metro stop. The manager, Dario, is very precise and organized. We highly recommend it.

Positive side: price and location, good cleanliness of the premises which are also spacious like rooms and bathrooms. Negative sides: some small things need to be reviewed by the owner. With a small expense of purchasing memory foam pillows that cost about 20 euros, he can buy them for 3 rooms for 150 euros. It is a touch of modernity and comfort. You cannot use unsightly pillows. You go to Ikea and with 500 euros you can buy decent cabinets, you cannot offer a wardrobe that falls on you when you open it. With a total expense of less than 1000 euros, you would have perfect rooms. I hope the owner takes these suggestions to heart; many customers would return. Lastly, the breakfast included item that does not exist can be eliminated and say there is a shared fridge, the possibility of making a coffee and hot water if you want a tea. Because saying breakfast included does not make sense with what is offered as breakfast. However, I think I will return and hope to see these small but great changes.

The breakfast was very disappointing and of a very low standard. We were only given bread and water, which is a disgrace for Italian standards. For 100 euros per night, it is disgraceful.

I had a very good experience in this accommodation and will return next time. It is very close to Ottaviano metro station and there are many shops as well as being a stone's throw from the Vatican. I recommend it to all those who want to stay in Rome near the Vatican. Thank you. See you soon.

Apart from the initial communication, definitely to be improved, I find the quality price ratio very good. The rooms are beautiful and the location is great. The breakfast is poor and needs to be monitored (e.g. the milk frother needs to be washed every time, as it was dirty! The coffee machine, the empty fridge...).

Structure in a great location, clean with friendly and helpful staff; the property could be greatly improved in terms of functionality and furnishings, however I will definitely return.

I only stayed for one night but I must say that cleanliness, precision, and courtesy are top-notch. I highly recommend.

Great location, but everything else is very dated. The bathroom has black finishes, the toilet bowl is attached with a magnet and the bidet faucet is rusty, the towels were dirty even before using them. Curtains and chairs have black stains, as do the sheets with unidentified black marks. The price is excessive considering the quality of the room and general cleanliness, and especially because breakfast is not included: there were packaged squashed croissants, two pods, and 2 juices, the croissants without even an expiration date.

Positive points: Location near the Vatican Museums. Clean towels. Negative points: Welcome without the owner but with foreigners who didn't even speak Italian. Room cleaning really poor and pitiful, several dirty spots, dirty and even red stained curtains. Water leakage from the toilet on the floor once flushed. Dirty walls, unclean and old glass and wardrobes, half burnt light of the sink mirror. Single beds of different makes and heights, to be used as a double bed. Breakfast included in the price really poor. In the room there were 2 crushed snacks with no expiration date, 2 juices and little else. In the hallway in the common area a dirty coffee machine, the whole area dirty. A fridge with yogurts and an open skimmed milk pack inside, plus Discount cakes open and used for several days. Finally, the owner wanted the payment of the stay plus taxes ONLY in cash, given to foreign boys, without a fiscal receipt, even if requested several times. Structure highly not recommended.

Great location. The room I stayed in, including a private bathroom, is sufficiently large. The view is into the condominium courtyard, so you need to be careful to keep the curtains closed for some privacy. The bathroom fittings and accessories show signs of wear, but apart from the broken shower support, everything works.

Clean, excellent location, daily cleaning and availability of the owner.

It takes a lot of courage. One-night experience on 14/03/24. Let me start by saying that I have always been used to hostels and bed and breakfasts, certainly not luxurious ones. I chose this place for its location, which is the only positive aspect. I contacted the host upon my arrival, and after about fifteen minutes, one of his collaborators arrived for the check-in. We are on the first floor, three flights of stairs with a non-functioning elevator. Upon entering the room, the collaborator shows me the keys, takes the document, asks for cash (50 euros for one night); I hand over the money but... NO RECEIPT. I then repeatedly ask for the receipt, but the guy seems not to know this word. As for the room, it's better not to talk about it, broken furniture, shower box and tray with evident traces of limescale (or maybe mold). I open the curtain and the window directly overlooks the neighbors' kitchen, I close the curtain and another surprise: various stains on the curtain of an undefined nature. I lay down for an afternoon nap and notice that the top of the wardrobe is broken, the TV does not turn on (I believe due to a malfunction of the remote control) and despite having created darkness in the room, I notice a ray of sunlight coming from a painting... I move the painting and find a surprise: a very crafty hole (attempted to cover up rather unsuccessfully) with an old window. The rooms are not at all soundproofed, you could even count how many steps your neighbor takes. In short, it takes a lot of courage to stay here.

The owner is very kind and helpful. However, he is not present at the property. He can be reached by phone and delegates to his collaborators the contact with the customer. The structure is really dated. We did not find the room absolutely up to expectations. If I could go back, I would not choose this property again.

Excellent service, very welcoming and comfortable room. It was a great stay! I will come back for sure!

Spacious and comfortable.

Our judgment is negative. The building is in a very good location, near the Vatican Museums and 400 meters from Ottaviano Metro stop. However, the building is dated and needs renovation and painting. There is a very strong smell of mold. The structure is on the first floor served by an elevator, which is not adequately maintained and clean. Upon arrival, I found a representative of the owner, who provided me with a set of keys warning me that one of the 4 locks was defective. I paid the due amount in cash in advance. I was assigned room 3. Inside, on a small table under the TV, there were juice glasses, coffee capsules, and packaged brioches. However, some packages were missing the expiration date. The double bed was composed of two single beds joined together. The only window was impossible to leave open because otherwise the neighboring kitchen could see what you were doing. The cabinet was small, full of dust inside and out, and with material in the two drawers at the bottom. The floor was damaged in several places. The worst part was in the bathroom. The sink tap was old and leaking water. The toilet paper roll door was rusty. The plaster was detached in the corner above the shower box, which was in terrible condition. The glasses were dirty with limescale and the bottom was full of mold. The sliding door did not work and the drain was probably clogged. During our stay, the towels were never changed. Additionally, there was a water leak from the bidet. I never saw the owner on the premises, not even on the day of departure. My overall judgment can only be insufficient/poor. Some improvements could avoid many negative judgments.

The room and the property reflect the photos. However, I would make some improvements regarding the cleanliness of the room where my girlfriend and I stayed. From the shower glass, we could tell that it hadn't been cleaned for a while, and moreover, we found the bedspread stained. The location is excellent for getting around by public transport or for reaching the Vatican a short walk away. The collaborator Thomas was welcoming, honest, and helpful. There were issues with the breakfast service. We booked after reading the description provided by the owner listing various products that would be available, but it wasn't the case. All we found were two packaged snacks each, one juice each, and the possibility to make cappuccino. When we complained about the breakfast, the collaborator came to supply us with other products, not all of them because the owner said he no longer provides some. He then offered to refund us 5€.

The overall stay went well, it's a pity that there is a bad moldy smell in the room. Otherwise, everything is perfect.

I would like to start by saying that I never leave negative reviews for establishments, as I have never found myself in such a situation. 4 keys are provided, but one lock is defective. Cleanliness: curtains, towels, and sheets stained/dirty and smelling of mold. Bathroom: toilet seat that constantly moves; broken toilet paper holder, broken or defective shower door causing water to leak onto the floor with each shower; the shower head holder is broken, in fact, the first time I used it, it fell on my head; the shower drain must be clogged, the water takes a long time to drain; we were left with a half-used shower gel by someone else; upon opening the bathroom cabinets, we found used towels rolled up and old opened shower gels definitely left by other customers. The bed was supposed to be a double bed, but it was actually two single mattresses placed together. Upon opening the window, we noticed the canopy of our window hanging precariously with protruding nails above our heads (it was fixed during our stay); furthermore, it is practically impossible to open the window to air out the room due to the mold odor coming in from outside, because right next door there is a terrace (belonging to the same apartment) piled with various things and with a green wall indicating mold. Breakfast: no water available during the stay, packaged croissants, two juices in cartons, and coffee pods (also probably moldy because they were already pierced by the machine and without an expiration date), the coffee machine is located at the entrance, right in front of the door and at the beginning of a long hallway leading to the rooms, there is also a kettle and a fridge with several cartons of milk opened by who knows who and when; the water in the coffee machine and kettle had a film with floating debris and a tin smell; of course, we had to have breakfast outside. The only positive note is that it is located 5 minutes from the metro. Not recommended.

Very very poor breakfast. Interior wardrobe full of dust. Unreliable manager, sent me the payment receipt I had made right after my arrival 2 days later. And bad manners when I asked him to give it to me at the time of payment.

The manager is kind, even though I haven't received the receipt I requested yet. In the bathroom, there are some elements to be fixed. For our needs, 1 night and exclusive overnight stay, the value for money is more than sufficient. The location truly allows you to reach many wonders of Rome on foot.

The room, overall, looks decent, but the double bed made up of two single mattresses did not allow my girlfriend and me to rest as we wanted. We found the breakfast cup already used; this indicates the level of hygiene and cleanliness we encountered. For what we spent, I hoped to find a place of significantly better quality.

The only positive aspect of this property is its proximity to the Vatican Museums; otherwise, it is well below average.

The accommodation is clean and well located. The room is spacious but lacks privacy when opening the windows. Out of 4 nights, two peaceful days and two noisy days until 11pm with the neighbor singing off-key. In general, the big downside is the breakfast. It's a criticism that often appears without any improvement. Two small packaged cakes, a juice box, and tea. You can't call this a breakfast. Plan to eat outside. This accommodation is good for sleeping and the convenience of the metro and city center.

Let's start with the assumption that if you're looking for a structure with Venetian stuccoes, damask armchairs, at this price and behind St. Peter's Square you have chosen the wrong structure and, most likely, city to visit. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a structure that allows you to easily visit the most interesting points of the city, which is well served also in terms of restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy, pastry shops and you don't want to spend much using your room only as a place to sleep and take a shower, then Caterina Al Vaticano is more than fine. The furnishings are indeed spartan but you have everything you need: a wardrobe, a small and functional bathroom, bedside tables and convenient electrical outlets. The front door that everyone complains about the malfunction is just a bit tricky but just have the kind collaborator of Dario explain how to use the lock and then it is not a problem: there has not been a day that I had problems getting back into the room. The window does face an inner courtyard but privacy is still guaranteed by the shutters it is equipped with and by curtains. The towels and sheets had no stains. I can't say anything about breakfast because, by choice, I didn't use it. The only note: the toilet flush didn't work very well (nothing transcendental, just needed to flush the water one more time). I still reported this to Dario who, in WhatsApp conversations, has always been courteous. Payment is cash only but Dario promptly sends you a receipt via WhatsApp. I hope I have been helpful to those who want to stay here.

So, how to say... The only positive point is the location which is ideal. 5 minutes from Ottaviano metro, 15 minutes from the Vatican. In a lively neighborhood with restaurants and small shops. Communication with the owner was good. No issues there. As for the room... I had N°3. It stopped in the 80s. Outdated decoration. A large bed made up of 2 single beds... but different. One was higher, harder, and squeaky. The other lower and softer. There is also a ledge on the wall, which prevents the bed from being brought close to the wall. So impossible to lean back. Crumbling ceiling. Stain on the curtain. For the bathroom: crumbling ceiling, crooked toilet seat. The worst remains the shower. If you weigh more than 50kg, you will have a hard time fitting in. Impossible to bend down. The grout is black, the doors are wobbly. No soundproofing. With the outside and with the hallway and the other rooms. The window overlooks a small courtyard and opens onto the building in front which is 3m away... Great view. You can hear the neighbor doing the dishes... The TV remote worked when it wanted to. It's not a real B&B, in the sense that we are not at someone's home. It's an apartment entirely dedicated to 3 rented rooms. The "breakfast" has the merit of existing even if it's packaged industrial cakes. It does its job. Cleaning is done every day. They also remake the bed. Clean but in poor condition. In summary, it is one of the cheapest but now we know why. Top location but room really needs to be reviewed and the shower completely redone.

The photos do not correspond exactly to what one sees. The cleaning was daily. They knocked on our door at 9:00 to clean… something not right. The double bed was two singles put together, they were uncomfortable for us. The rooms were damp, although cool.

STRUCTURE: Old condominium with faulty doors; elevator usable only by residents despite the apartment being on the 1st floor. Large room with bathroom, but the windows overlooked a very dirty space between buildings. Windows couldn't be kept open due to lack of privacy. Double bed with single mattresses, with a stained mattress cover. Same for pillowcases, sheets, and blankets. Blankets seemed very old. Spring mattresses almost collapsed. Bed without frame. Wardrobe we didn't even dare to open for fear it would fall apart (like everything else). Presence of a small working TV and only a small cabinet with two chairs to place things on. CLEANLINESS: Dust and dirt everywhere, inside and outside the room despite two people taking care of room cleaning, etc. Walking on the floor made your feet black. Needed to wear slippers. Bathroom bin emptied daily. Dirty, stained towels. Wobbly plastic toilet seat. Shower full of mold stains. Shower rod and slider that holds the showerhead broken. Doubts about bathroom cleanliness. Hand soap, shower gel, and bidet soap possibly used by others. MANAGER: Can't say anything since I always contacted them via messages but never met in person, not even for payment. BREAKFAST: Virtually nonexistent even though it's listed as included on the website. Located in a narrow hallway. Coffee machine didn't work on the first day. Food kept on a shelf, half open and half consumed. Overripe fruit. Tray in the room with cups, coffee pods, fruit juices, and packaged croissants. Absolutely a health hazard. We always had breakfast elsewhere. NB: Payment strictly by card and invoice via WhatsApp message. The only STRENGTH: convenient location. Structure close to the metro and bus stop.

The only positive mention is the direct location to Caterina al Vaticano. The accommodation is in need of major renovation: The beds in the photos no longer exist, you sleep on travel beds that are so hard that you can't sleep. The bathroom was full of mold. The toilet seat did not fit, so the toilet never closed properly and the smell of the sewer pipes permeated the room. The shower door was too small, so the whole bathroom was flooded after showering. Loose cables were taped to the wall with packing tape. The coffee machine in the hallway for breakfast could only brew cold coffee and the sweet breakfast consisted of packaged mini cakes and croissants. This accommodation is not recommendable.

Very well located and quiet! But it's not a common room, it's a common corridor where you have to have breakfast (not much choice) and eat in the room where there are no table and chairs.

A good place, with a good location. The manager is available. The breakfast consists of packaged items and water/milk/coffee to make by yourself, but better than nothing. Excellent for the location, an acceptable price.

Without infamy and without praise, well-served area, a stone's throw from the Vatican Museums, the staff moderately kind, the bed a bit uncomfortable. However, I would return.

Overall good but the keys to two access doors were not working and for two out of three days I entered thanks to other tenants in the building. There was no shampoo and in the shower I found a used bar of soap in a package. A little more attention in this area really costs very little.

Very convenient for visiting the Vatican and surroundings, there is a very close parking lot that was very useful for us. We had a good time, we will definitely come back. Thank you for everything.

Hostel passed off as a bed and breakfast, the only positive note is the proximity to the Vatican and the metro. The room was dirty, the bed with mattresses I believe to be twenty years old but so soft that I returned home with back pain, they gave us a room that overlooked an internal courtyard, also very dirty and with any kind of animal passing here and there. The cleaning staff, instead of picking up the dirty towels, folded them their way and put them back in place without changing them. The air conditioning didn't work 2 days out of 4, when in Rome the perceived temperature was about 40 degrees. Breakfast was nonexistent: a kettle and a coffee machine without replacement pods placed after the entrance door of the apartment in an inconvenient position and with a hellish stench coming from who knows where, below there was a small refrigerator with food thrown there for who knows how long. For being an accommodation in the capital, it is not good at all, I regret it as an Italian, because if this is the business card we provide to a foreign tourist, we will never go anywhere. Oh, I forgot, the manager demanded cash only and before the stay was completed, now I understand why!

The B&B is in a great location near Ottaviano metro station. Quiet. The room is spacious and recently renovated. We had an issue with the towels that were not clean. The manager promptly resolved the issue.

Upon arrival we were informed that the room was dirty (smell of smoke, cigarette butts in the bathroom bin, hair on the floor, clean but stained towels, dirty toilet outside), we put our things down and reported the problem to the person who welcomed us and left. We were given a bunch of keys that open two doors and the house door, stupid us for not trying them immediately... but I usually trust. At 8:30 pm we returned with the half-asleep child in our arms and couldn't get in, the keys go in but don't turn. I tried calling the owner many times but nothing... no answer! We ended up ringing a neighbor who kindly let us in, luckily it was early evening and we could do it. In the room we discover that the situation has not changed, same hairs and hair on the floor and on the blankets, we open the bed and discover that the sheets are clean but stained and that the bed was made directly on the mattress... so every possible stain remains impressed under the next customer! I write a message to the owner asking for a new set of keys and report the dirt in the room, he replies the next morning at 8 saying he would send a collaborator. The next morning the collaborator views the room and takes photos to send to the owner and assures us that he would redo the room. He also shows us that the keys need to be inserted a few centimeters for one and a few centimeters for the other, otherwise they break in the lock because they are thin... if only we had known earlier! When we returned in the evening the room had been cleaned, breakfast products were left, not received the day before. To top it off, payment was cash only (in 2022 it doesn't exist!) and the receipt arrived after 6 days, after writing and insisting on WhatsApp to get it. It is a rent-a-room, not a 5-star hotel, I am aware of that, but basic cleanliness seems like the minimum to me, we would probably have overlooked the first impression if it hadn't been for other incidents that fueled our disappointment and incredulity towards the other excellent reviews. The only positive point is the location (behind the Vatican walls) and the silence as the room overlooked the internal courtyard of the building.

Great location near Caterina al Vaticano.

Excellent structure, located in the Prati District, well connected with all public transport. Very spacious and clean room and bathroom. The reception upon arrival was also perfect. If you find yourself in this area and need accommodation, you can definitely stop here.

Tranquil and comfortable environment connected with public transportation, the owner is very kind and friendly.

Better not to offer the breakfast service. There is not enough space to lean on and in the room a small table that does not allow to sit together. To improve.

Good structure, good reception, convenient for tourists as it is close to the center of Rome.

We had a great time at Caterina al Vaticano! Dario was precise, kind, and helpful like few others. The structure is simple but in a strategic position, suitable for those who need a place to stay without spending too much or for events like concerts and matches. It is located 2.7 km from the Olympic Stadium and really a stone's throw from the Vatican and Ottaviano metro. We didn't even have problems with parking. Very positive experience. Thank you, Dario.

Excellent accommodation in the center of Rome, 270 meters from Ottaviano metro station, located in a quiet area. The owner Dario was truly hospitable and granted us a few extra hours. Absolutely recommended!

Fabulous location, right in the center and a stone's throw from the Vatican. Decent and clean room, sufficient breakfast. The manager is courteous. I would definitely go back because for various reasons I go relatively often to Rome (a city I love a lot, by the way) and I believe that, considering everything, this is the best structure in terms of quality/price ratio among all those I have tried.

Great solution, central area, convenient to public transport, clean and well-kept, abundant breakfast. Friendly and helpful manager. We will definitely consider it for the future.

Great in almost everything, location, very close to the Vatican Museums and the metro, great cleanliness and comfortable both the room and the bed. Especially quiet, I didn't hear a noise, neither external nor from neighbors, the owner is very kind and available to keep my luggage until the time of departure. The room is tidied up daily, they even folded the shirts I left on the chair. The only downside, but just because perfection doesn't exist, given that there was space, a few more centimeters could have been added to the shower on each side.

I spent two quiet and relaxing nights at the bed and breakfast Caterina al Vaticano. The location close to the metro is great for visiting the entire Rome. The guy who welcomed me was very helpful, even asking for the arrival time to anticipate, if necessary, the room cleaning. Recommended!
