The Bed & Breakfast La Scalinatella, recently renovated, is located on the second floor of a seventeenth-century palace in the historical center of Rome, near the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, Trajan's Market, the Victorian and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
Small restaurants, bistros, artisan shops, elegant boutiques and a renowned school of jazz make the area very attractive.
We are at just one metro stop from Termini Rail Station (Metro B, Direction Laurentina, Cavour Stop).
Like many ancient buildings the building has no lift however the steps are low.
The atmosphere is intimate, the owners of the B&B live in the apartment and we are at your disposal for any need or request.
We welcome you and we will take care of you personally, we can also help you book excursions, museums, exhibitions, concerts, theaters and restaurants.
Children under three years old, sharing the bed with their parents, stay free of charge.
For safety reasons, the B&B La Scalinatella does not allow smoking. However, there is a balcony where lovers of tobacco.....can take a breath of air.
Each room has its own ensuite bathroom with shower cabin and is equipped with hairdryer, safety-deposit box, fan, mini-bar, complimentary toiletries.

I am a “girl” of 49. My birthay was one month ago. After many years working in business in Milan, I had the chance to change my life. I decided to catch this opportunity with both hands.
Being totally attached to my home as I am, and as it is typical of my zodiac sign (the Crab), and always ready to put friends and acquaintances up (who, sometimes, given them an inch take a mile !!) I decided to put my personal skills to work in a new and interesting job.
It has not happened in the twinkling of an eye and it has been not easy. Finding a charming house in the heart of Rome….. however I believe I have ….. Now, I am looking forward to hearing my guests’ opinions.
It is a demanding but exciting challenge ……. Happily my sister Elisabeth gives me an helping hand.

The property is not bad, but there are a few things prospective travelers should be aware of. There is significant black mold and mildew buildup on many surfaces in the bathroom, particularly the tile. There is no air conditioning at this property. The common areas smell of smoke, although the room smells less so. Upon initial arrival it was hard to gain access to the property, even though the host was expecting us. The rooms appear darker and less elegantly furnished in person than in the photographs.

Caro Dennis, non so dove abbia visto la muffa visto che qui puliamo ogni giorno. E' scritto OVUNQUE che non abbiamo aria condizionata perché il un palazzo del '600 i tubi non passano. Le stanze sono esattamente come si vedono in foto perché il mio fotografo non ha ritoccato nulla. Non capisco perché sia stato difficile accedere alla struttura visto che le abbiamo fornito un indirizzo ed un numero civico. E' possibile che l'odore di fumo rientri dal balcone dove alcuni ospiti fumano. Del resto sono in vacanza non in carcere ma nelle stanze le assicuro che non ha mai fumato nessuno. Io so benissimo la ragione di questa recensione negativa che suona come una vendetta. Lei è andato via senza avvisarmi e senza pagare la tassa di soggiorno. Le sono venuta incontro in tutti i modi perché non voleva inviarmi i dati della carta di credito e non voleva fare un bonifico che le sarebbe costato troppo. Ha preteso di dettarmi il numero di carta via telefono, disturbandomi e facendomi perdere un sacco di tempo senza contare i giorni che sono passati. The apartment was in a great location, within walking distance from Rome Termini, yet still in an interesting and eclectic area with many shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Our spacious room and private bathroom were beautifully and tastefully decorated, we loved having a couple of windows that opened out onto a pretty and quiet street. Annamarie was a very kind host who looked after us well. I would definitely recommend her lovely home. Jo and David.

Superb accommodation very well located at a quite correct price. Annamaria is very kind and provides all the information desired. Great plus for people not speaking English, Annamaria speaks very good French. Second time we returned to Rome and always very happy with this guest room. The next time we go to Rome, we will return here. The only downside related to a historic building, no air conditioning. If possible, avoid summer, but it didn't stop us from enjoying Rome :).

Excellent facility in an ancient 1600s palace, very convenient due to its proximity to the center, a few meters from the Colosseum, the metro, and Termini station. Extreme courtesy from the owner, available for any advice. Spotlessly clean and impeccable in every detail. Definitely recommendable, with an excellent value for money.

Lovely little place in the center of Rome just a stone's throw from the Colosseum. Mrs. Annamaria Valente entertained us with kindness and helpfulness. Beautiful property, in a great location. Few (bonus) well-kept and spacious rooms. Upon arrival, we were worried about the possible noise from the street below, but the excellent soundproofing was a pleasant surprise. We also got along very well with the owner. Definitely worth recommending.

From Annamaria we had a great time, both me and my boyfriend. We organized a 4-day trip on the fly and found a structure with a perfect location for us, a beautiful lively neighborhood, populated, not far from the Colosseum and the Station (we arrived by train). We walked half of Rome on foot (but the structure is very close to the metro) and coming back to La Scalinatella was a bit like coming home after a tiring day. Cozy and elegant structure, good breakfast, cute little dog and really exquisite owners. Nothing else to add! We will be back!

Everything perfect. The only small issue are the night noises on the street which obviously do not depend on the managers' will. If we had decided to close the windows, we would have solved this inconvenience as well.

Pleasant apartment with great potential that in our opinion is not being fully utilized. To point out some improvement suggestions, for example, the refrigerator we found on the floor in the room with dangling wires could be removed, external and internal soundproofing could be increased, and breakfast could be improved. The street view is a bit noisy, but the neighborhood is central and pleasantly lively even in the evening. The cost is reasonable considering the prices in the capital.

Gentile Signora, la ringrazio per la recensione, per quel che riguarda i mini-frigo in camera li abbiamo messi proprio perché richiesti da molti ospiti che comprano da bere e vogliono tenere le bevande in fresco. Non ci sono fili volanti, l'unico filo è quello del frigo. La colazione, per legge, deve essere confezionata ed in mono-porzione, non possiamo manipolare alimenti. Proprio qualche giorno abbiamo subito un controllo molto accurato e ci è stato chiesto di mostrare cosa offriamo ai nostri ospiti. Essendo tutto confezionato non ci sono stati problemi. Quanto all'insonorizzazione ha ragione ma, se cambiassimo tutti gli infissi (a questo punto dovremmo anche fare un impianto di aria condizionata), per recuperare la spesa dovremmo alzare di non poco i prezzi che, invece, preferiamo contenere. Excellent facility, located in the heart of Rome just a stone's throw away from everything. On Via Urbana, various local businesses and shops make the stay easier. The hostesses are very kind and welcoming, always available and attentive to guests' needs. My friends and I really appreciated it and will come back.

I stayed two days at this B&B La Scalinatella and I definitely recommend it! Located in a very characteristic neighborhood, full of bars and restaurants, just a few minutes from the station and the main monuments. The structure is very welcoming, the rooms are spacious, bright and tastefully furnished, the living room in the evening with its soft lights, what can I say, it feels like home! The owners are helpful and friendly. Simona Ivan.

I have planned 3 days to truly discover art, history; a touch of simple and pleasant rejuvenating vacation. We stayed at the recently renovated B&B La Scalinatella, in a sober and comfortable manner, in a spacious and airy room of an ancient building. Characteristic neighborhood with its pleasant human vitality due to the various workshops of various artists and craftsmen. Very useful and pleasant the availability and cordiality of Annamaria with her advice, the central location is truly excellent for those arriving by public transport. In the 3 days we spent, we were able to do without using public transport, thoroughly exploring almost all the most characteristic areas of the city. For those who have the opportunity to choose the holiday period, I suggest weekdays possibly in low season. You will not find the mass of tourists, but the real vitality of Rome, maximum choice of typical eateries, availability and welcome of museums and monuments. You will have quieter stays with great assistance benefits, but above all lower costs.

We stayed for two nights and I can say that I found myself well, both my children and I. The owners, two very kind and nice sisters, are very welcoming. The structure is cozy, close to the center and the metro.
