La chiesa di San Pietro, nota anche come chiesa dell'Addolorata, ha origini paleocristiane. Venne quasi integralmente ricostruita tra X ed XI secolo in stile romanico quando vi si stabilì un'abbazia benedettina. Profondamente trasformata nel XVIII secolo, fu restaurata (e parzialmente ricostruita in stile neo-romanico) negli anni trenta del XX secolo. Restano originali la navata centrale e parte delle navate laterali, le absidi e il campanile a pianta ottagonale.
