AMO Museum of the opera

Nestled in the magnificent setting of the Palazzo Forti, AMO the Fondazione Arena di Verona’s museum, through over 30 rooms, introduces you to one of the arts which makes verona world-famous: opera. Using historical documentary and multimedial itineraries, AMO unveils the creative process which brings an opera to the stage. Librettos, photographs, letters, scores, sketches, set design and costume designs display the striking work of the elements which lead to the genesis of an opera. Across its 5000 square metres, Palazzo Forti retraces centuries of history: from the roman ruins to the medieval structure, from the 18th century décor to Libero Cecchini’s renovation. Many personalities lived in this building: Ezzelino III da Romano in the medieval era, the Emilei and Forti families who renovated the décor arrangement, Napoleone Bonaparte in 1797 and the field marshal Radetzky. The building was home to a precious art collection which can be enjoyed at the Achille Forti Modern Art Gallery in Palazzo della Ragione.
