Description
The refuge is located at Passo Pura, 1420 meters above sea level, within the area of Ampezzo, in the heart of the Friulian Carnic Alps, and is just a short distance from Sauris. Its setting, next to a mountain hut and overlooking the open meadows of Pura, provides an authentic mountain atmosphere that is bright and panoramic.
A short walk from the facility leads to the charming viewpoint over Carnia, where one can gaze across the Lumiei valley and the Tagliamento valley, offering a wide and spectacular view. On the opposite side of the pass, the landscape reveals the Lumiei basin, with Lake Sauris nestled among the hills.
This area is perfect for hiking enthusiasts, featuring trails of varying difficulty and duration, suitable for both leisurely nature walks and more challenging routes. The refuge can be accessed on foot from Ampezzo via two hiking paths; during warmer periods, it is also reachable by a convenient road suitable for all types of vehicles.

After several years of managing the family restaurant and trattoria located in the eastern hills of Friuli, I looked for a new business to support. Finally, at Il rifugio, in an enchanting setting high up in the Carnic Alps, I will be able to offer my cuisine immersed in the nature of the Pura Pass.

During our short stay we had a good experience. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The hosts were friendly and helpful, even during the hustle and bustle of Ferragosto! We will return.

The property is in a quiet and peaceful location that allows you to enjoy the mountain. The rooms are comfortable, with a nice balcony. The breakfast is good and satisfying. There is also the option to have lunch and dinner. The cuisine is traditional and good and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The hosts are kind and friendly. We felt very comfortable.

Tiziana and Dario are fantastic hosts. Here you really feel at home. You have to be mindful of where you are and show respect for the environment and for those who work with great sacrifice. It is a refuge at 1,400 m altitude and, with the awareness of what that means, the experience will remain in the heart forever.

Beautiful mountain place, reachable by car. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms with balconies facing south are wonderful. There is a wide choice of food both at lunch and at dinner. The cakes made by Tiziana are excellent.
