Description
Domus Iulii was established in Cividale del Friuli at the end of 2012 in a 17th-century building. Completely renovated to meet the needs of the modern traveler, it maintains the traditional appearance of an early 20th-century home. The name Domus Iulii was chosen to commemorate the ancient Roman name of the city, originally FORUM IULII, founded by Julius Caesar between 50-56 BC. The B&B is located in front of a statue of its founder in the city center, a symbol of the city, towering proudly in front of the facade of the town hall of Cividale.
As you step inside the B&B and look down, you will find an antique stone floor that leads you to wooden stairs. As you ascend to the first and second floors, you will be welcomed by a history-rich scene: antique paintings, carpets, a loom for weaving wool, grandmother's sewing machine, vintage radios, and photographic instruments.
The 4 rooms, 2 with double beds and 2 with single beds, are cozy and far from impersonal. They have everything you need: privacy, simplicity, and light. Each room has a private bathroom with shower and amenities for your stay, heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi connection, and a flat-screen TV.
Breakfast is served on the second floor in a fully equipped kitchen that guests can use. Start your day surrounded by the aroma of coffee and homemade pastries, freshly baked bread, traditional cured meats and cheeses, as well as juices, milk, cereals, jams, and yogurt.
What we want to give you is a vacation in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It would be wonderful if each of you could remember the moments spent in these lands when you return home.

The new breakfast room is on the ground floor of the B&B and is accessed through an old wooden door, directly facing the statue of Julius Caesar and one of the most beautiful squares in the city, Piazza Duomo. The exposed beams, the Roman column, the stone wall frame the most relaxing moment of the day. You can enjoy breakfast in the kitchen on the second floor. Start the day surrounded by the smell of coffee, homemade desserts, freshly baked bread, cold cuts and cheeses of our tradition and again with juices, cereals, milk, jams and yogurt.

I opened the B&B in November 2012, somewhat unaware of what I was getting into. It was a completely new world for me, coming from a different line of work.
But from that day until now, which is June 18, 2020, I have never regretted it. The most beautiful thing in all these years? Meeting you, guests from all over the world, making friends, people who shed a tear when they leave. These are strong emotions that made me realize I don't want to do anything else.

Excellent location, we were greeted in a friendly and affectionate manner. The lady served us a sublime breakfast hosting us in a room with a few tables, each of which reproduced the color of the room: an unexpected finesse. Really compliments!

We booked a suite with two rooms. It was clean, well situated. The aircon is only in one room, so we could not close the separation door. A bottle of water in the room would have been nice. Nice welcome form the host and a gracious service for breakfast. The croissants were excellent.

Io e mia moglie abbiamo soggiornato in questa splendida struttura situata in pieno centro di Cividale. Dalla nostra stanza vista sul Duomo, caffè San Marco e statua di Giulio Cesare.
Ottima colazione e ottima pulizia. Per chi si reca a Cividale consiglio caldamente questa struttura. Un saluto alla simpaticissima Francesca.

This is the easiest review to write as it is probably the best place I’ve stayed in every way. Perfect location beautiful house comfortable clean spacious room, charming host. And a real gem of a town.

Posizione centralissima e camera perfettamente insonorizzata, nonostante finestra sulla strada.
Colazione buona e curata. Bagno pulito e nuovo.
Riguardo l'armadio/baule vintage presente in camera, mi è sorto il dubbio se fosse utilizzabile oppure solo arredamento. Soggiorno nella struttura comunque molto positiva e da consigliare ad altri viaggiatori.

Posizione centralissima. Stanze pulite e ben arredate, i locali curati nei minimi dettagli. Colazione perfetta per soddisfare ogni esigenza e gusto degli ospiti. Ogni volta che sono a Cividale soggiorno qui.

Ambiente e arredamento antico molto curato, pavimenti in legno, ben pulito e nonostante sia in pieno centro, camere insonorizzate, non si sente alcun rumore. La prioritaria è una persona gentilissima e davvero disponibile. Ci siamo trovati benissimo.

Ottimo prima di tutto per la collocazione centralissima e comoda nel cuore di Cividale, poi per la gentilezza, premura e riservatezza delle proprietarie, ottima anche la pulizia dei locali antichi e caratteristici, ristrutturati di recente con gusto. Colazione abbondante e con prodotti freschi, ben organizzata con l'utilizzo della cucina in autonomia. Insomma un luogo in cui tornare senz'altro, con un rapporto qualità prezzo molto alto.

Il B&B Domus Iulii è una chicca. Sulla piazza centrale ma vicina a comodissimi parcheggi in cui lasciare la macchina, è una scelta perfetta per chi vuole muoversi in zona ma avere a portata di mano tutte le comodità del paese.
La struttura è molto ben arredata con oggetti antichi ricercati, pulitissima e con ambienti molto ampi. Le gestrici (due sorelle) cortesi e disponibilissime.
Unico "difetto" da segnalare, la presenza di un campanile di fronte alla struttura, impercettibile a finestre chiuse.
Insomma, assolutamente consigliabile.

La struttura è bella, di pregio e nuova. Forse una delle più belle, nel suo genere, che abbia visitato. La colazione è nel bar, pure quello di pregio, esattamente di fronte. A volte però la vera ospitalità si avverte proprio con una bella colazione a casa. Il giudizio resta comunque più che positivo.
