Descripción

Domus Iulii was established in Cividale del Friuli at the end of 2012 in a 17th-century building. Completely renovated to meet the needs of the modern traveler, it maintains the traditional appearance of an early 20th-century home. The name Domus Iulii was chosen to commemorate the ancient Roman name of the city, originally FORUM IULII, founded by Julius Caesar between 50-56 BC. The B&B is located in front of a statue of its founder in the city center, a symbol of the city, towering proudly in front of the facade of the town hall of Cividale.

As you step inside the B&B and look down, you will find an antique stone floor that leads you to wooden stairs. As you ascend to the first and second floors, you will be welcomed by a history-rich scene: antique paintings, carpets, a loom for weaving wool, grandmother's sewing machine, vintage radios, and photographic instruments.

The 4 rooms, 2 with double beds and 2 with single beds, are cozy and far from impersonal. They have everything you need: privacy, simplicity, and light. Each room has a private bathroom with shower and amenities for your stay, heating, air conditioning, Wi-Fi connection, and a flat-screen TV.

Breakfast is served on the second floor in a fully equipped kitchen that guests can use. Start your day surrounded by the aroma of coffee and homemade pastries, freshly baked bread, traditional cured meats and cheeses, as well as juices, milk, cereals, jams, and yogurt.

What we want to give you is a vacation in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It would be wonderful if each of you could remember the moments spent in these lands when you return home.

The new breakfast room is on the ground floor of the B&B and is accessed through an old wooden door, directly facing the statue of Julius Caesar and one of the most beautiful squares in the city, Piazza Duomo. The exposed beams, the Roman column, the stone wall frame the most relaxing moment of the day. You can enjoy breakfast in the kitchen on the second floor. Start the day surrounded by the smell of coffee, homemade desserts, freshly baked bread, cold cuts and cheeses of our tradition and again with juices, cereals, milk, jams and yogurt.

I opened the B&B in November 2012, somewhat unaware of what I was getting into. It was a completely new world for me, coming from a different line of work.

But from that day until now, which is June 18, 2020, I have never regretted it. The most beautiful thing in all these years? Meeting you, guests from all over the world, making friends, people who shed a tear when they leave. These are strong emotions that made me realize I don't want to do anything else.

A few minutes' walk away, you can reach the Lombard Temple, the Celtic Hypogeum, the Baptistery of Callisto, and the entire historic center.

We booked a suite with two rooms. It was clean, well situated. The aircon is only in one room, so we could not close the separation door. A bottle of water in the room would have been nice. Nice welcome form the host and a gracious service for breakfast. The croissants were excellent.

My wife and I stayed at this splendid property located in the center of Cividale. From our room, we had a view of the Duomo, Caffè San Marco, and the statue of Julius Caesar. Very central location and perfectly soundproofed room, despite the street facing window. Good and well-kept breakfast. Clean and new bathroom. Regarding the vintage wardrobe/trunk in the room, I had doubts whether it was usable or just for decoration. Overall, a very positive stay at the property and worth recommending to other travelers. Excellent, first of all, for the very central and convenient location in the heart of Cividale, then for the kindness, care, and discretion of the owners. Also excellent is the cleanliness of the ancient and characteristic premises, recently renovated with taste. Abundant breakfast with fresh products, well organized with the use of the kitchen independently. In short, a place to definitely come back to, with a very high quality-price ratio.

The B&B Domus Iulii is a gem. Located on the central square but close to very convenient parking lots where you can leave the car, it is a perfect choice for those who want to move around the area but have all the comforts of the town at hand. The structure is very well furnished with refined antique objects, very clean and with very spacious rooms. The managers (two sisters) are courteous and extremely helpful. The only "flaw" to report is the presence of a bell tower in front of the structure, imperceptible with closed windows. In short, absolutely recommendable.

The structure is beautiful, prestigious and new. Perhaps one of the most beautiful, in its kind, that I have visited. Breakfast is in the bar, also prestigious, exactly opposite. Sometimes, however, true hospitality is felt with a nice breakfast at home. The judgment remains, however, more than positive.
