Three double B&B bedrooms, 2 apartments and a villa, for self-catering holiday rentals:
6STANCO comprises of a collection of stone buildings around a courtyard. The main house dates back to the 1600’s with substantial restoration about 100 years ago. The stone buildings of 6Stanco underwent major refurbishment from 2007-2012, including the installation of a renewable energy biomass boiler. All is set in the small village of 'Stancò.
There are three B&B double rooms available in the main stone house, each with en-suite bathroom and furnished in classic, rustic style. They look onto the garden with the backdrop of the forest and Montovolo beyond. Around the 6Stanco courtyard, there are also; A completely independent stone villa, 'Olimpià with three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen/dining room and double height living room, giving onto its private terrace, ideal for up to 6 people. The raised ground floor of the Hay barn has been converted into two studio flats, 'Giacominà & 'Giuseppinà each able to sleep from 3 up to a family of five: they have independent entrances, living room with kitchenette, bathroom and sleeping deck above. There is a garden, woodlands, football area, trampoline and new swimming pool in 2013, 5x11m, 1. 2m deep. We offer courses in Art, Pottery and English Language for children in our Course Room which is on the lower level of the barn. Nearby we can organize regional cookery demonstrations or Hatha yoga.

Breakfast is served in the B&B during the colder months. but weather permitting on the terrace under the grapevine: You'll be offered tea, coffee, latte, OJ, fresh bread, local honey, single portions of butter and jam or home made jam if preferred, yoghurt, fruit in season including our own figs, grapes, pears, raspberries and plums, a variety of cereal and in high season also homemade cake or tart.

Area hills
Our village, Stanco, on the outskirts of Grizzana Morandi, lies at the beginning of the Bolognese Apennines, at about 600m above sea level. 6Stanco is a 45km drive South of Bologna City Centre and Airport, along the original PANORAMICO branch of the A1 motorway towards Florence. Exit at Rioveggio then it's 10kms to reach us. Grizzana Morandi boasts the Museum-Summer House of the artist Giorgio Morandi and the Rocchetta Mattei in Riola ponte and it lies on the edge of the Monte Sole Historical Regional Park. Stanco lies on the trek route 'The Etruscan Way' between the Etruscan sites and museums of Marzabotto in Emilia and Artimino in Tuscany. It's an excellent location from which to visit Bologna and Florence.

Everything was perfect. Ruth is the nicest person ever. Rooms are spacious, pretty and clean. Pool is great. Breakfast as well!

A very lovely place on the mountain side in a sleepy village. The nearby town of Vergato gives you all other amenities you would need. Plenty of restaurants in the area, though you have to navigate a bit in the Italian opening times.\nThe room, house and surroundings were very clean and beautiful.\n\nRuth, the host, was absolutely fabulous. Always there to accommodate and in for a friendly chat or recommendations on the area. Abundant breakfast was served each morning at the time we asked for, with fresh fruit, coffee, bread, cereals, yoghurt and you name it :-)\n\nWe would very much love to come back at this B&B in the future.

Ruth is a fantastic host! She welcomed us with kindness and warmth. The property is well-maintained in every detail and the garden is lovely. The perfect place to disconnect from the city and relax in beautiful old buildings with strong stone walls and a lovely pool! The breakfast is wonderful, Ruth pampered us with so many delicious things, including homemade jams and cherries from her tree! People like her enhance the area and help keep it alive. I highly recommend staying with Ruth if you want to visit Rocchetta Mattei and experience an authentic and unspoiled area of the Apennines.

The structure is located in a hilly area rich in very beautiful panoramas. We stayed in the rooms of the main house renovated with respect and furnished with great taste. The outdoor space is also beautiful and well-kept. We will return in a warmer period to also enjoy the beautiful pool. Very comfortable beds and superb bathrooms. The icing on the cake was the welcome of Ruth, a special, attentive and helpful person, makes you feel at home and prepares excellent breakfasts.

Ruth is the perfect host - kind and extremely helpful. 6Stanco is a delightful property in an excellent location. There are plenty of interesting places and good restaurants nearby and it's a quick and easy drive from Bologna. Ruth's breakfasts are perfect and we ate them on the patio under a delightful vine covered patio and with excellent views. We could not have done better - very highly recommended whether you're in the main house or in one of the cottages.

Located a few minutes from Grizzana and 25 from Rocchetta, it is a characteristic structure for the rock and the layout of the buildings. We stayed in the Camillo room on the 1st floor with wooden floor and door, renovated bathroom, view of the surrounding hills. The pool is really a plus, very pleasant and always accessible. Definitely a place to come back!
