Description

Hello! We’re Michaela, Giulio and Leo. A few years ago, we decided to leave city life behind and start afresh. So we ended up in Cavazzola, at an altitude of 750 metres along the Via Francigena and the historic Statale della Cisa road, halfway between the lands of the Duchy of Parma, the Tuscan region of Lunigiana and the Cinque Terre in Liguria.

Le Spine is a family-run B&B, created from a house that had stood abandoned for thirty years, which we have renovated whilst striving to respect the environment around us. Today it is our home and the place where we welcome our guests.

What can you expect from us?
Peace and simplicity: all our rooms have en-suite bathrooms and views over the Val Baganza and Val Grontone; they are simple yet clean, well-maintained and welcoming.

A wholesome breakfast: whether on the terrace admiring the view or by the fireplace, you’ll find a buffet with homemade cakes and jams, our own yoghurt, fresh fruit and – for those who prefer savoury options – fresh eggs from our hens, cheese and vegetable muffins.

If requested in advance, we can cater for specific dietary requirements relating to food intolerances and allergies.

Breakfast

Your morning will be brightened by our selection, with an Italian-style buffet breakfast included in the room rate.

We make our own cakes, jams, muffins and yoghurt. The eggs come from our own hens, and the vegetables from our vegetable garden whenever possible.

You’ll also find bread, muesli, biscuits and fresh fruit.

To drink, we offer tea, coffee, cappuccino, milk or fruit juice.

We do our best to cater for the needs of those with food intolerances or who choose only plant-based products.

We are Michaela and Giulio: we take care of every aspect of management and hospitality.

We have renovated the structure where we live and where we welcome our guests, Giulio built the furnishings of the rooms and takes care of always keeping them at their best, Mica takes care of making every surface shine and making sure you find white and fragrant linen. Together we are committed to preparing you a tasty and healthy breakfast.

Wonderful place, located in a fantastic spot with a view that brings peace. Having breakfast outside there in the morning is truly something special. Rooms are very large and very clean. The hosts were discreet and very helpful. Excellent breakfast and a fantastic dog. We visited several B&Bs in the area and I must say this one stayed in our hearts. We will definitely return.

Charming family-run B&B. Great attention to detail, rooms well-equipped and super clean, simple food but prepared with care and a careful selection of products. Excellent spot for pilgrims on the Via Francigena, only 3 km further than the Cassio stage and you'll enjoy a full-relax break with a spectacular view and great beer!

I had a fantastic stay at Le Spine. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The food is delicious, including the homemade yogurt at breakfast! But the best part was the welcome and hospitality from Michaela and Giulio. They are incredibly generous and kind. Thank you so much for taking care of me!

It is a matter of priorities: those who arrive in places so "off the beaten track" are looking for something else, and here they find it. If you arrive here, you are a pilgrim, a walker, a motorcyclist, in short, a traveler, people used to the essentials because the superfluous is cumbersome and weighs down. The rooms are essential but comfortable, well thought out and spotless. The breakfast is tasty and unpretentious, and if you stop to eat, there is no lengthy menu, but what is served is from the area and has real flavor. The extra touch are the discreet and welcoming hosts, the exchanged words are not idle chatter but encounters. And the landscape frames it all. A beautiful experience, to be repeated. Only the cat is missing.

This is a superb place to stay, especially if you are doing the Via Francigena and want great comfort at a reasonable price. The owners are extremely friendly. The property is spectacular, being an old farmhouse that has been renovated to a very high modern standard. From the terrace behind it there are wonderful views across the valley. The bedroom and bed were very comfortable, and the bathroom was big and modern. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Our dinner and breakfast were delicious.
