Description
Our bio-construction facility is located on the first hills of Bologna, in the Carteria di Sesto area, on the border with the Gessi Bolognesi Park and the Calanchi dell'Abbadessa. We are at the end of a dirt road that rises from about 130 meters to 180 meters, and can be reached on foot, by mountain bike, car, or van. We do not have animals, but we can accommodate dogs without any problems, as well as small children (we have two, aged 9 and 6). The cottage that we rent as a B&B is a 30-square-meter studio with a bathroom, kitchen, and double bed. It is an independent space, with free access at any time, and has separate heating and air conditioning, a refrigerator, washing machine, and stove at your disposal. The apartment is entirely made of eco-friendly materials, namely wood, straw, and raw earth, completed in 2023 with state-of-the-art technologies (heat pump, rainwater recovery system, storage batteries). Outside, we have approximately one hectare of space with a forest, compost toilet, and a treehouse for the little ones, a barbecue for cooking or lighting a fire, and many other surprises!

We are located on the first hills of the Emilian Apennines, just a 20-minute drive from the city of Bologna. The environment is secluded from any other dwelling, in the middle of a forest where deer, wild boars, hares, foxes, and some wolves live. The Mater Dei path also passes through here, one of the best-marked hiking trails in the area (the path that leads to our home is actually a small part of the Mater Dei path). Children have plenty of space to run and play, while adults can relax with a barbecue or a rental mountain bike and fatbike ride (we have 3 available). For nature lovers, the Gessi Bolognesi and Abbadessa Calanchi Park is a true paradise of trails and panoramic viewpoints suitable for all levels of experience. Definitely worth visiting all year round, especially in spring when temperatures are ideal and in autumn during the foliage!

We were impressed by the natural beauty surrounding the property and how sustainable it was. The studio was spotless and beautifully designed, equipped with everything we needed for a couple of days' stay. Roberto was an excellent host, promptly addressing all our questions and requests about the property and Bologna. I will definitely stay here again whenever I visit Bologna and explore the area.
