At the time of booking, two months earlier, upon my explicit request for reassurance I was repeatedly told that the air conditioning worked (cooling), that there was a bathroom in the room and that the kitchen was accessible, since I was traveling alone with a walker. However, upon arrival I discovered that the bathroom was outside the bedroom, the cleanliness of both the room and the kitchen left much to be desired, the TV was the size of a tablet, the window had no mosquito screens or bars, and getting into the kitchen with the walker was a struggle. The icing on the cake came when I asked where the air-conditioning remote was and was told that it was “cold now” (it was 28 degrees), that it could not be set to cooling because it was already programmed for heating, and to open the window to cool down, etc. My objections and complaints about the agreements made at booking, the danger of an open ground-floor window, and the fact that I needed the air conditioning for my health were ignored. Without further ado, within a few minutes the manager offered to refund the €200 I had already paid for the two nights and in less than half an hour I found myself on the street with no other place to go, since almost all accommodations were full due to trade fairs. I called a taxi and went straight to the hospital where a few hours later I had an orthopaedic consultation, and only with the help of a dear friend in Sardinia was I able that afternoon to find a place suitable for my needs. I find it scandalous that people are misled, especially those coming from other regions of Italy, alone and with mobility disabilities and multiple health conditions as in my case, since they could simply have said they could not meet my requests and I would have looked elsewhere. The only requirement to book at this property seems to be that guests must be patients of Villaba Hospital, so they are assumed to be people with health problems; these secondary dynamics leave me, to say the least, stunned. I strongly discourage it for the reasons stated above.
