Description
The Antico Mulino di Roncorozzo B&B welcomes its guests to a place where time seems to stand still. Located just 5 km from the Rocchetta Mattei, amidst ancient oaks and overlooking the Limentra valley, this family-owned mill, built in 1737, has been expertly restored. The stone walls, wooden floors, and original furnishings tell stories of centuries of daily life, family events, and historical moments that span wars, agricultural traditions, and memories passed down through generations.

Once the vibrant center of agricultural life, complete with a dual-grinding mill, a blacksmith's forge, an oven, and a stable, the complex still retains traces of its past, brought to life by the restoration of objects and furniture that adorn the spaces. The three rooms, each with its own unique character, blend period charm with modern comfort, ensuring a restful stay with carefully selected mattresses and pillows.

Breakfast here is an authentic ritual, prepared with local products and family recipes. Homemade cookies, cakes, and doughnuts are served in a serene atmosphere, accompanied by the sounds of nature. It is a moment of well-being and camaraderie that gently ushers in the day.

The location of the B&B allows for easy access to the main points of interest in the area: the Rocchetta Mattei, Alvar Aalto's church in Riola, the medieval village of La Scola, and trails that wind through woods, lakes, and sanctuaries of the Bolognese Apennines. Porretta Terme, with its healing waters and cultural events, is less than twenty minutes away, while Bologna and Florence are approximately an hour's drive.

More than just a stay, the Antico Mulino offers the experience of a genuine journey through time, in an oasis of peace where one can reconnect with nature and the memories of those who have inhabited these walls for over two centuries.

Cinzia has decided to revive the old family mill by turning it into a place of genuine hospitality. With passion and care, she shares the story of the walls that surround her, tells anecdotes, and offers suggestions for itineraries through villages, sanctuaries, and trails of the Apennines. Always ready to provide practical advice or a ride to the station, she welcomes guests as if they were family, with the same attentiveness that her own family once showed to passing travelers.

Area hills
The area surrounding the Old Mill is a captivating corner of the Bolognese Apennines, where forests of oak and chestnut trees alternate with meadows and paths that offer stunning views of Corno alle Scale and Mount Cimone. Nearby, there are many points of interest, such as Rocchetta Mattei, known for its eclectic and mysterious architecture, the medieval village of La Scola, preserved in its 13th-century stones, and Alvar Aalto's church in Riola, a rare example of modern architecture in Italy.

Nature enthusiasts can choose from walks along the Via della Lana e della Seta, hikes to the Soprasasso caves, or routes leading to shrines and waterfalls, such as those at Dardagna. Lake Suviana, on the other hand, provides beaches, water sports, and adventure trails among the trees, while Porretta Terme offers the chance to relax in thermal waters alongside significant cultural events like the Soul Festival.

In this part of the Apennines, one can experience an authentic atmosphere characterized by quaint villages, agricultural traditions, and abundant nature. It is a region that encourages a slower pace, inviting visitors to explore lesser-known but charming places, all within an hour's drive from the art cities of Bologna and Florence.
