Description
Between history and flavors in the center of Romagna, La Sabbiona offers hospitality in an ancient renovated rural residence, in harmony with the past and the comforts of the present.

The farmhouse is surrounded by splendid hills, located in a panoramic position just 6 km from Faenza.

The love for wine led us to develop the activity in the cellar, seeking the authenticity and high quality of the product, obtaining excellent DOC and IGT quality wines, with particular attention to native vines, including Centesimino, known in ancient times as Savinòn rosso, Albana, Sangiovese and Famoso.

Guests can enjoy typical Romagna cuisine in our restaurant, paired with wines we produce.

For a relaxing stay we offer:
- rooms with bathroom and apartments with: air conditioning, TV, free WIFI;
- room for disabled people;
- 2 studio apartments for 2/3 people;
- 2 two-room apartments for 2/4 people;
- 2 larger apartments with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room
- outdoor swimming pool with panoramic hydromassage tub, large garden, volleyball court and mountain bike court.

The prices for the rooms are all with buffet breakfast included, but it is excluded in the prices of the apartments (on request).

During the summer period it will be possible to stay for a minimum of 5 nights in a room and a week in an apartment.

A few kilometers away there is the possibility of spending a day or more at the nearby spas of Castrocaro or Riolo Terme.

Upon request we organize traditional cooking and rolling pin pasta courses.

To visit:
- Faenza with the International Ceramics Museum
- Ravenna with its UNESCO heritage mosaics 30 km away, as well as the cities of Bologna, Ferrara, Florence, San Marino, Cervia (salt museum and Mirabilandia) and the delightful medieval villages of Brisighella, Dozza, Bertinoro.

Hey from Serena

The Podere La Sabbiona already existed in 1600, it was the property of the Notary Donelli, councilor of the Municipality of Faenza and notary of the small municipality of Oriolo dei Fichi, then properly known as Aureolum, a village perched near the medieval hexagonal double strut tower unique in Italy.

In 1655 the property was sold to Ottaviano Salvioni, to whom we owe the name La Salviona; subsequently, as with all things, with the passage of time the name became "La Sabbiona".

The Altini family, always rich in peasant culture handed down from father to son, decided in the 1970s to move from the plains to acquire a hillside farm with a fortunate panoramic location immersed in a suggestive hilly landscape; on one side the Oriolo tower, on the other Faenza and the Ravenna Plain with its thousand lights in the night. On clear days, the skyscrapers of Cesenatico and Milano Marittima appear on the horizon, like small toothpicks.

The love and passion for the Earth has pushed the Altini people, who have always been farmers, to undertake new activities linked to the territory and give a better future to their children.

In 1993 Serena, Sebastiano and their son Mauro began the Agriturismo business supported by the experience of their grandfather Quinto.

In 1999, the restoration work on an ancient rural residence that already existed at the end of the 1500s was completed.

So after a careful restoration of the buildings, La Sabbiona offers hospitality in rooms with bathrooms furnished with period furniture and in apartments finely furnished in country style, all in harmony with the past and the comforts of the present.

The improvements to the property grow hand in hand with the Altini family's need for personal growth with new indispensable knowledge: the use of computers and a more in-depth knowledge of a foreign language.

The eldest son Mauro is the new energy, the drive to continue an agritourism and agricultural activity by choosing the quality and authenticity of agricultural products, first of all the wine.

Then Marco the youngest, with his IT skills, helps the family when needed.

In the cellar the grapes produced on the farm are vinified, from which top quality D. O. C. wines are obtained. and I. G. T. typical of Romagna.

Attention is paid to safeguarding ancient varieties of native vineyards such as Centesimino and Famoso.

Possibility of tastings and visits for groups, especially for those who love the culture of good drinking combined with typical dishes.

Passion stimulates the Altini family to revive ancient crops such as spelled, which is used in the kitchen for the preparation of Romagna piadinas and soups, as well as Romagna shallots, used to enrich local dishes.

The protection of ancient recipes and flavors is the guideline for cooking and tastings at Sabbiona.

Cooking courses are also offered precisely so that traditions are not lost.

The fortunate position, a beautiful swimming pool, the veranda overlooking the plain, genuine breakfast and dinner, all this is what the guest finds for a holiday and relaxation where intact nature is completed with the proximity of multiple places to discover.

La Sabbiona is surrounded by 2 natural parks, ideal for those who love walking and thus embracing a 360 degree panorama.

The Agriturismo is also in a strategic position for visiting important cities: Faenza with the International Museum of Ceramics, Ravenna with its UNESCO heritage mosaics, Bologna, Ferrara, Florence, San Marino, Cervia (salt museum and Mirabilandia) and the delightful villages medieval buildings of Brisighella, Dozza, Bertinoro.

The wonderful location, a beautiful swimming pool, a veranda overlooking the simple but excellent food, is what one can find during a vacation at La Sabbiona. One can enjoy relaxation where nature is fully integrated with different charming places to be discovered.
Infact, “ La Sabbiona “ is surrounded by 2 national parks, ideal for hikers to embrace the very open and breathtaking view.

The farm house is also in a strategic position for visiting the following cities: Faenza (its Museum of Ceramics is famous all over the world), Ravenna- well known for its mosaics, Bologna, Ferrara, San Marino, Cervia (which has a Salt Museum and Mirabilandia theme park) and many other medieval villages such as Brisighella, Dozza, Bertinoro.
Florence is also very close as Faenza is directly linked by train which passes through the very charming and green Appennini mountains.

Not exactly the best in terms of hospitality, too focused on extra sensitivity towards Covid19.
stayed from 02/12/2022 to 02/13/2022
The answer from the host:
Cordiali saluti, La Sabbiona.
