Description

“Rifugio degli Dei” rose from what was an ancient rural factory built in the middle of the 8 century by our great-grandfathers, who, with knowledge and passion, were dedicated to the cultivation and care of the vast olive groves, gardens and animals that surrounded this special place.

It was perfectly reconstructed in 2007 and particular attention was paid to preserving the architectural character typical of the Amalfi Coast and of Positano, such as the vaulted ceilings and “gaveta”, chestnut-wood architraves and slaked plaster walls.

The old building whit its olive grove is located in Positano in the quarter known as Arienzo in the “Parco dei Monti Lattari”, with around 250 stairs from the main road and illuminated path surrounded by the green Mediterranean undergrowth to reach it.

From this age-old agricultural place, one enjoys an exceptional panoramic view, where the mesmerizing beauty of Positano, the island of Li Galli, Punta Campanella and Capri, lie before you – all this within a space of absolute tranquility.

The Country House, surrounded by olive groves and bush in this enchanting corner of Positano, has been divided into three apartments: Poseidone, Dioniso and Afrodite and have been simply, yet tastefully, furnished, with particular care given to maintaining classic architectural details found historically along the Amalfi Coast.

This is a one-of-a-kind property with a stunning, postcard-worthy view of Positano. The location feels secluded and serene — a perfect escape from the town’s bustle — yet it’s still convenient to reach everything. Be aware: the stairs are exactly as described by the host and they’re not for the faint of heart. Persevere — the view is absolutely worth it. Our mini-apartment was thoughtfully equipped, with enough space to store groceries and a proper setup to cook a simple, delicious meal. Pro tip: stop by the local deli in town early in the day before the best items are gone. Davide, our host, was fantastic — full of spot-on recommendations and incredibly patient in answering our many questions about the area and transportation. We usually walked into town for the views, but buses and taxis are available if you prefer. All in all, a peaceful retreat with unbeatable vistas and a genuinely helpful host. Would happily stay again.

It was perfect, just as advertised. Extremely clean and beautiful and the air conditioning was amazing. I counted and it was exactly 411 steps to our room, and that does not include the uphill walking between staircases on the mountain. You are completely isolated where you stay and have no access to food or anything except for breakfast, so prepare for that. You do have a working fridge and freezer in your room as well as a small working kitchen. When you get to the 411 stairs down, you still have at least a half hour walk downhill to get to the town of Positano and the beach. The buses are unreliable and crowded. Taxis are about €40 one way to get you to town from the bottom of the 411 staircase. Make sure you bring great walking shoes and water along the way. You have a beautiful private terrace, but it is not attached to the room. The host Davide was absolutely wonderful. He was extremely helpful, answered all of our questions and helped us navigate the town and transportation. All in all, if I were physically fit and liked to burn off my pizza, this was a wonderful place to stay.

The location was fabulous, but for some people the steps up may be a bit daunting. The walk to town could also be a bit of a challenge for some, but there is a bus stop right at the bottom of the steps. Davide is a great host and gave excellent recommendations for restaurants.

Davide was the perfect host. He was super friendly and helpful and was available almost instantly on WhatsApp. The breakfast he made daily was amazing: fresh-squeezed juice, tomatoes and basil from the garden, and fresh eggs (probably from the chickens you see on the hike up). The coffee was hot every morning and he was always willing to make cappuccinos, which were a real treat. The view from breakfast was breathtaking. What a way to start every morning, with that amazing view of the coast. Be prepared to walk up quite a few steps — around 400 or more. But that is not unique to this property; it is common to every place in Positano. This place is about a mile from the center of town. It's a short walk and on the bus line, but buses tend to fill up quickly. I enjoyed our stay. The rooms were cool, comfy and had great balconies. I personally loved it.

Our stay at Rifugio degli Dei surpassed our expectations. It was a beautiful property covered in grape vines, lemon trees, olive trees, and many more. Waking up every morning to a delicious homemade breakfast with a spectacular view of the Positano coast. This family run B&B made us feel right at home, with our host David and his grandfather going above and beyond for our stay. Personally I have a food allergy and when they were made aware they ended up baking homemade cakes and pies the next day to fit my dietary restrictions. They were sweet and friendly and made our stay very memorable. Do keep in mind the residents is at the top of 250 steps but I would have to say this place is worth it. With a bus stop located directly at the bottom of the steps access to and from the town of Positano was very accessible. Overall we had an incredible stay!

Our stay at Rifugio Degli Dei is one we will fondly remember for the rest of our lives. The view is truly spectacular, and waking up and lying down to it would never grow old. We enjoyed every moment with the lemon and olive trees, grape vines, zucchini, and many other plants, so many flowers. Our room was impeccably clean. The terrace was perfect for enjoying a meal or nap in the sun or shade.\n\nDavide and Ottavio were such welcoming and kind hosts. From Ottavio refreshing us with cold lemonade and sweet Amalfi lemons after that first 400 stair climb, to Davide sharing about their family's traditions and the region's culture during breakfast (outstanding by the way), it was so special to get to know them and experience their culture during our short time there. Davide helped with whatever transportation or logistics questions we had and booked private transfer to and from Napoli at a very reasonable rate.\n\nThe 400 stair walk is definitely something we had to get used to, especially after a long day in the sun, but it was completely worth it. I think for anyone not used to so many stairs in their usual day, starting to work up to that many a few weeks before your trip here would be more than sufficient to acclimate. Again, completely worth it to experience the wonderful view and true refuge away. Thank you very much!

This was a magical location during our visit to Positano. It has the perfect balance between the views of the town, the sea and the mountain. You can hear the singing of birds in the mornings and the peaceful sound of the sea at night. The homemade breakfast is delicious and in every detail of what you eat you can perceive the tradition and the love with which it is prepared and cultivated. Without a doubt a place full of tradition and hospitality. In addition, Davide was always attentive to advise us. Just keep in mind that in order to get those views you will have to climb tons of stairs in the middle of a mountain, for us it was part of the experience, and it totally worth it.

An absolutely stunning stay in Positano, we could not have asked for anything better. The room was well equipped with amazing views, air conditioning, and a small kitchenette. Davide and his family were exceptional hosts! They were very helpful with our luggage, transportation, and giving us tips for exploring Positano. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay! Davides mother made delicious cakes and we were always greeted with coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. This truly is such a gem of a place and we're so happy our paths crossed with it. I could no recommend it enough!

Very beautiful structure, the only flaw is the steps to reach the structure (after all, the coast is all steps), but I assure you that it is not so tiring and the view, once you arrive, is truly unique. The place is very strategic because at the bottom of the steps there is the bus stop, both SITA and the internal minibus to Positano which takes you to the center in 2 minutes (my girlfriend and I also walked a few evenings, about 15/20 minutes). Furthermore, crossing the street and climbing more stairs, you can reach the Arienzo beach, very convenient and quiet. Another advantage for those who love walking is the start of the Path of the Gods, which starts right from the structure, I highly recommend doing it. The breakfast was modest, not a huge buffet, but all very good and prepared by the owner Anna with their products. Highly recommended!

Excellent experience. The B&B is away from the crazy tourist circus that is downtown Positano. It's a short walk from downtown and up a few stairs. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the water and city, while sipping your coffee on your private terrace among singing birds. The hosts are fantastic. I was taking pictures of their tomatoes in the garden and the grandma saw me, the next day I had some fresh tomatoes from the garden in my kitchen. That's sweet. The suite is huge and immaculate. Breakfast was excellent. I'm sure you are seeing the trend so I'll stop here and finish with it was our best experience in Italy.

We stayed at the Refugio Degli Dei for 5 days (August 23-28) - We loved it. Davide and Anna are very helpful. The rooms are spotless. Bar fridge is filled with reasonably priced drinks in case you forget to pick stuff up in town. Breakfast is done well, and there is always the amazing view. This place is a bargain - but getting to it is not for the faint of heart. If you can do a few hundred steps without too much trouble, you will find the stay here well worth the effort.

The courtesy of the managers and the panoramic position made my stay unforgettable. The cleanliness is top-notch, the availability of the managers really surprised me. I recommend to all those who want to combine a seaside stay with beautiful walks to consider this little corner of paradise. The view is breathtaking and the surrounding nature is fantastic.

B&B in a spectacular position within a beautiful garden of olive and lemon trees. We stayed in a spacious, brand new and very tidy little apartment with a breathtaking view of Positano. The private terrace is worth days of complete relaxation without moving into town. The welcome is splendid: warm and friendly; after a day you feel like family. The breakfasts are fabulous, with the excellent cakes made by the lady. A nice equipped beach is right under the road at the beginning of the staircase. The 350 steps to reach the B&B are a burden only in the first days: then they are a small training for the Path of the Gods, a wonderful excursion to be done in both directions. Congratulations for the B&B and its management: you are wonderful! We absolutely have to go back!

Well, what can I say. We had the honor of staying a week in this corner of paradise and we can only spend positive words about this structure, starting from the atmosphere, the silences, the wonderful view that fills your mind and heart, the cleanliness. But surely the highest score goes to them: Davide, Mrs. Anna and Mr. Ludovico, the splendid family that manages this wonderful place and that, from the beginning, will make you feel "not on vacation" but "in the family"! The only sore point is the famous stairs but if it weren't for that, it would be perfect. And once up, you will be amply rewarded!
