Paestum, formerly Poseidonia by the Greeks who represented one of the most beautiful colonies of Magna Grecia, colonized first by the Lucani (420-410 a. C.) with the name of Paistom and then from Rome (273 a. C.), is the traveler in all its timeless beauty with the Temple of Hera (Basilica), the Temple of Ceres and the superb and sumptuous Temple of Neptune or Poseidon. In the Old Town, protected by the impressive walls of tufa, you can also admire the Amphitheatre, the Forum, the pool of the Gymnasium, the Via Sacra, the early Christian Basilica. Do not miss a visit to the National Archaeological Museum where you can admire the famous and renowned Tomb of the Diver, a symbol of Paestum.
