Nestled in an ancient peasant village, in the countryside just outside Palinuro, there is the Bed and Breakfast "Il Vecchio Gelso", a dwelling with a rather bucolic air.
Due to its characteristics, our structure is a solution recommended especially for nature lovers.
We are located just 450 m. from the Arco Naturale beach, which can be reached on foot, following the path that passes right in front of the house.
Those who come to us, do so because they are looking for experiential tourism. In fact, the guest will be able to "taste" a simple holiday but rich in cultural values; the numerous inland villages to visit are all located a handful of kilometers away. During these "mini trips", you will have the opportunity to taste many recipes of the past such as maracucciata, menaica anchovies, ciauredda, you can taste the different qualities of local wines, visit the caves of Capo Palinuro or ancient villages such as Roccagloriosa, Pisciotta, Camerota, the ghost town of San Severino; it will be possible to quickly reach Marina di Camerota, Sapri, Padula and Paestum. You will be able to listen to tales of bandits and local stories from times gone by.
For sports lovers, we recommend horseback excursions at the riding school not far from the B&B, or Quad excursions along dirt tracks that will take you to discover places and landscapes of rare beauty such as Mount Bulgheria or the Ciolandrea plateau.
Here, nature plays host: the olive trees, the oaks, the prickly pears and the Mediterranean scrub, centuries-old witnesses to a history of nature and tradition.
The structure consists of two residential units, which were obtained from the old farmhouse that belonged to my ancestors.
On the ground floor there is a double room with en suite bathroom and a tiny kitchenette; it has a private outdoor space, in the shade of a pergola of strawberry grapes.
On the first floor there is the other living unit, this one composed of a kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms: the first is a double bed, the other has two single beds, which can become another double bed if necessary.
Upon their arrival, guests will receive the "house keys", and will be free to organize their holiday, without time limits and in complete independence.
The structure is equipped with private parking, a bowling green and a grill area.
The B&B opens to guests in conjunction with Easter week and closes at the end of September.
We accept cats and small dogs.

My name is Antonio, although everyone affectionately calls me Tonino, and I have been doing this activity for almost twenty years now. The B&B is actually the natural evolution of what my parents did intuitively before me. Despite not being very convinced at the beginning, over time, and especially with the help of my wife Michela, what seemed like a fleeting and temporary experience has become my main activity. Over time, I have become convinced that Cilento, the land where I live, deserves to be valued and made known to the growing number of visitors who honor us with their presence every year. I love my land, I love its millennia-old history, made up of events and characters that I hope to share with all those who are eager to get to know it.

Rustic accommodation, with everything necessary to make it comfortable. Very close to an excellent restaurant and a 10-minute walk from the sea. The proximity of a campsite means there is some noise due to the evening entertainment until around 23:00–23:30; otherwise it is a quiet place.

Everything was perfect, clean and well-maintained structure, nice overall. Indeed, 500 meters from the sea, natural arch beach, beautiful water, wonderful landscape. The only point to improve, but not excessively decisive, was the very uncomfortable mattress that, in my personal opinion, should be replaced. I mentioned it to Antonio, the owner and manager of the structure, who is available and will take care of the replacement soon, at least that's what we understood. Otherwise, everything was impeccable. We will definitely return in the future.

The structure is overall nice and tidy, very close to the sea which makes it a unique and special place. One drawback is that being a natural oasis, silence should be respected to ensure the tranquility of the guests who, being on vacation, may want to sleep that extra hour in the morning. On the first morning, we were woken up by noise, shouting, and fights from a guest and the manager. We asked them to lower their voices a bit and they turned their backs on us in a rude and impolite manner. The client even spoke to my husband, and the manager never apologized. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the last breakfast, obviously paid for, because the owner did not show up on time. It had been agreed the day before at 8:30 AM, and he was still not there at 9:00 AM. We called him several times, and he rudely hung up the call without even apologizing, forcing us to make a 3-hour car trip on an empty stomach. We can count on one hand the times we managed to sleep in the morning without being woken up by the rooster, by fights, or by people talking right outside our bedroom at high volume, including the manager. I repeat, the structure is overall very nice, but it is a pity about the neglect of small details and the lack of respect towards the guests.

Iniziamo con il dire che in qualsiasi b&b o struttura che vai esistono le regole che stabilisce il padrone di casa e voi di regole ne avete rispettate ben poche. - Prima regola: l’orario delle colazioni. Nel nostro b&b è previsto fra le 8. 45 e 9, 45. Voi invece, per tutto il periodo del soggiorno vi siete alzati alle 10, 30 e vi fermavate al tavolo a mangiucchiare fin quasi le ore 12. Un paio di volte sono venuto a bussarvi per avvisarvi ma il ragazzo rispondeva di lasciare tutto sul tavolo perché non voleva essere stressato: potevo mai servirvi il caffè freddo e il latte al sole? - Vi lamentate del fatto che non è stato rispettato il silenzio, che le persone di fuori parlavano, del gallo che cantava. Cosa facciamo allora? Uccidiamo il gallo e imponiamo il silenzio agli altri ospiti (loro si che sono stati rispettosi!) perché hanno osato disturbarvi di metà mattina? (ps. Il b&b si trova in campagna ed è logico trovare animali come lucertole, gechi, gatti, galli, galline ecc… anche se non tutti gli animali sono nostri) - Per quanto riguarda l’ultimo giorno e la telefonata che secondo voi vi avrei chiuso, questa è la spiegazione: stavo guidando per raggiungervi e portarvi gli ovetti sodi e i cornetti ma ho perso la linea. Soddisfatti? There is nothing to say but beautiful things. Everyone was very kind, cozy room with the right spaces, just a step away from the natural arch and immersed in nature. Perhaps it's true, there is a bit of noise in the evening as there is entertainment from the village next door, but nothing annoying. Mr. Antonio and his wife are very nice and make you feel at home right away. There is a sensory path, animals, and nature. Beautiful.

The room is part of a complex of small houses in an old village that make the environment familiar. There is also a nice corner to eat under a grape pergola. Unfortunately, the room is underground and very damp. Despite being well furnished and equipped with everything necessary for a stay, unfortunately this strong humidity did not make it comfortable. To remedy this, we asked the owner for a dehumidifier which he promptly provided, slightly improving the situation. Furthermore, the presence of an adjacent Camping Village that organizes entertainment until midnight and a half prevents the evening peace that we imagined experiencing. We did not have breakfast because it was served too late for our needs, and again in this case the owner accommodated us.

The apartment is in a very convenient location to reach the beach of the arch on foot through a pleasant shaded path. La Marinella is a few minutes away. It offers everything you may need and the outdoor kitchen with a large table allows you to enjoy nature and tranquility. Antonio is always very kind and helpful from the welcome to breakfast and can give great advice on visiting the area. Those looking for maximum tranquility should note that for a few hours in the evening you can hear the entertainment from the nearby campsite. From midnight onwards, total peace reigns.

Single room/for couples 'The Monk's Cell', very nice and comfortable. Very close to the sea (Arco Naturale/Scoglio Mingardo beach) and a few kilometers from Palinuro center, Marinella beach. Two supermarkets within a radius of about 1 km. Nearby there is a convenient pizzeria/restaurant that also does takeout. In the room there is no way to cook but there is a kitchen sink and a refrigerator (unfortunately very noisy). Italian breakfast at 9. Comfortable bathroom. On-site parking. The TV gets a couple of channels and the wifi doesn't work. In summer, a lot of noise from the nearby village from around 9:30 pm to midnight, due to entertainment.

C'è da aggiungere però che, nei B&B la cucina di solito non esiste, noi abbiamo voluto invece mettere un lavello con qualche stoviglia, che a mio parere sono meglio che niente, non le pare? La Tv prende 3 canali, ma di solito gli ospiti non l'accendono nemmeno. La wifi dovrà essere migliorata. Saluti.

I stayed for 4 nights at Il Vecchio Gelso B&B Guest House, the structure is welcoming and the charming and private outdoor space under the grapevine is the extra touch. Just a stone's throw from the beautiful beach of Arco Naturale in Palinuro. The owner was very kind, lending me a bicycle and an umbrella.

We stayed at Il Vecchio Gelso B&B Guest House from 05 to 10 September. The structure is a bit rough, there is much room for improvement given its potential, but overall acceptable (if you are not bothered by the singing roosters and the neighboring campsite that will keep you company with the entertainment). The location is strategic, a stone's throw from the natural arch reachable on foot and halfway between Palinuro and Marina di Camerota. Mr. Antonio is kind and helpful, he did his best to make our stay pleasant. The homemade breakfast is brought to your table in the room: milk, coffee, croissants, and rusks were the daily standard. Considering the prices of other accommodations, this one is relatively affordable and what it offers is in line with the price paid.

We stayed as a couple in the room called 'the monk's cell' and we had a great time: cool room (in the middle of July), very clean and with wi-fi connection. The manager, Mr. Antonio, was extremely kind and helpful, always ready to respond to our requests. The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the Arc of Palinuro. We returned yesterday from an incredible place, I recommend it to everyone and hope to go back soon. Courtesy, attention to the customer in a mix of tranquillity where to spend moments of relaxation while eating well between courses of sea and land. Direction path towards the beach for morning jogging activities, FANTASTIC! Close to the center of Palinuro and direction of Camerota in a perfect and ideal location.

The structure is surrounded by greenery, surrounded by ancient olive trees. The place is quiet, only in the evening you can hear the animation of a nearby village. The Arco Naturale beach is easily reachable on foot. Center of Positano, Saline beaches and Marinella beach in just a few minutes by car. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The environments are clean and tidy. The breakfast doesn't have a huge selection but it is very abundant. Highly recommended for those who prioritize comfort over luxury.

Excellent location amidst greenery and close to the Arco Naturale beach. It almost seems like a small village. We stayed in the room for 2 people, at the end of June. The room, even without an air conditioner, was cool. We also brought our small dog with us.

We had a great time at this rustic B&B. The owner, Mr. Antonio, 'pampers' his customers and ensures all the necessary attention.

Our stay at the B&B Il Vecchio Gelso was even more charming than expected. The Old Mulberry B&B Guest House is an old structure. It is well organized and located just a few meters from the beach. I stayed in the Rosemary room and perhaps due to the seasonal heat, it was unbearable at night, too hot. I repeat, this summer has been very hot, especially in early August. I was expecting a small kitchenette to be able to cook something more in the evening, since it was pleasant to eat in the beautiful garden there. However, we managed fine even with the electric hotplate. Antonio, the manager, is truly helpful and kind. It is a place of absolute freedom and total relaxation. We met very nice neighbors like Antonio. I recommend this property because the quality/price ratio is unbelievable, especially in a place like Palinuro. It will definitely be my destination for the next Cilento vacations. Thank you, Antonio.

Just back from a weekend in Palinuro. Guests of this establishment me and my partner Rosy can only express a more than positive judgment on our romantic getaway. Oh yes because it was our anniversary gift (6th) of engagement. Spartan structure, immersed in nature, with everything you need in the room and a special mention for the shower, very large. Delicious breakfast served by Antonio the owner (kind and courteous) under a delightful pergola with an additional guest very welcome for us, a too cute, playful and curious black kitten. Characteristic and very nice place a stone's throw from the Arco Naturale beach. Wonderful. In short, we had a great time, too bad it was only two days. Well, one more reason to come back. Highly recommended.

We were there on the 24th and 25th of June, comfortable house, furnishings to be content with but provided with everything. The beautiful sea reachable on foot through a cycle path about 400 m away, under the sun they seem more. We were very satisfied especially for the courtesy of Mr. Antonio.

Wonderful place. I really appreciated the simplicity and informality of the place. The outdoor shower (hot) is beautiful, a feeling of freedom. Mr. Antonio is always very helpful and ready to meet my requests. The B&B is in a strategic position: close to the Natural Arch (sea), a short path leads to other beaches, as well as to Palinuro and Marina di Camerota. Very close by there are two good restaurants where you can eat fresh fish and excellent wood-fired pizza.

We spent a weekend to enjoy the beautiful sea, and without a doubt the location helps. Beautiful. A two-minute walk on a easily accessible path, with a wide choice at our disposal: bathing establishment and free beach. Various possibilities for boat excursions without having to take the car and move around. Also very close to the center of Palinuro. Space available for lunch and hanging out. Hello everyone.\n\nI really enjoyed my stay at this property.\n\nThe location is a dream.\n\nThe little houses are really cute, the setting is exceptional.\n\nMaximum cleanliness.\n\nI stayed in the studio for 2 nights where there is a double bed, exclusive bathroom, TV, fridge, and sink to prepare something quickly. Additionally, if you walk a few tens of meters from the houses, there is also a restaurant-pizzeria where you eat really well.\nThe beach is close by, there is a path that takes you to several beaches where you can really relax.\n\nThe setting is surrounded by many olive trees. The town center is just a few minutes away by car.\n\nA few hundred meters away there are also a supermarket, bar, and gas stations. The owner is a helpful and very kind person.\nWhat can I say, I will come back every year.\nI highly recommend it to you.

There are no photos of one of the rooms (it is clear that this room exists because, looking at photo number 5, you can see a door on the right), the one in which I stayed: too narrow, the single beds (two) are close to the wall and it is difficult to go to the bathroom. You have to walk close to the wall. There are also missing appliques and at least one more switch should be placed next to the bed (if you have to get up in the middle of the night, you have to feel your way). As for breakfast, the photo is very nice, but it is not served that way.

Do not be fooled by the complicated address: the B&B is housed in an ancient oil mill, at the entrance of a path in the greenery that in 2 minutes on foot leads to the beautiful beach of the Arco Naturale! There are 2 restaurants-pizzerias, a bar, and a campsite nearby where you can find a newsstand and a tobacco shop. On the beach, there are bars, stalls, pedal boats, and boatmen to take you on a tour of the caves. The village of Palinuro is about 1 km away.
