Description
La Thuillettaz is a renovated mountain village nestled in the steep, green pastures of the upper Great St Bernard Valley, at an altitude of 1, 760 meters, in the municipality of Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses, Aosta Valley.
Easily accessible in every season, just a 20-minute drive from Aosta, or on foot via the Alte Vie trails, this small Alpine hamlet, which has preserved its original toponym, dates back to before 1600 and has been restored with care, passion, and respect for its historical identity. Composed of just a few stone and larch wood dwellings, it represents an authentic retreat, ideal for those seeking direct contact with nature, peace, and silence.
The surrounding landscape is an untouched expanse of meadows, woods, and mountains, where time slows its pace.
The location is particularly favorable for mountain lovers in every season. During the summer, this stunning territory is perfect for medium and long-distance trekking, hiking, and mountain biking. The local "Historical Trails" are especially evocative, connecting and showcasing the beauty of the villages scattered throughout the municipal area. In the winter, the beautiful ski slopes of Crevacol are about a 300-meter walk away, while nearby you can enjoy downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, and snowshoeing excursions starting directly from the B&B.
The property is also an ideal stop along prestigious routes such as the Alta Via 1, the Grand Tour des Combins, the Via Alpina, and the Via Francigena.
The town center—with its parish church, castle, post office, and town hall—is about 1 km away. The pharmacy is 3 km away, and the hospital is 20 km away. There are numerous traditional restaurants nearby, the closest of which is an easy 200-meter walk.
Aosta, with its train and bus stations, is 22 km away.
The location provides easy access to the Swiss border, just 6 km away via the Great St Bernard Tunnel and 13 km via the Great St Bernard Pass. Highway access is provided by the A5 Turin-Aosta, Aosta Est exit, continuing along the Great St Bernard state road (SS27).
The nearest airports are Turin Caselle (122 km), Milan Malpensa (170 km), and Geneva (170 km). ”

Breakfast
Hey from Laura
We are located in the heart of the Aosta Valley mountains, surrounded by flowering meadows and ancient woods. A landscape that enchants in every season, where silence turns into music and nature reveals itself in all its purity.
Here, every awakening smells of fresh laundry and clear skies, and every window opens onto an infinite horizon. Here, the body rediscovers its well-being, cradled by the harmony of the Alpine landscape.
This is where we live and where we welcome you, in person and with the same care one gives to a returning friend.
We are happy to suggest paths, experiences, and places to discover—from hiking along our trails to winter sports and the traces of history that live in our villages.
As a classic Bed & Breakfast, our home is within the property; however, your rooms, with their private entrances, ensure privacy and tranquility throughout your stay.
I look forward to hosting you in this corner of paradise and introducing you to our beautiful Upper Great St. Bernard Valley.
Conditions
Area mid-centre
A well-maintained road, winding through a coniferous gorge and set against a breathtaking backdrop, partially follows the route of the ancient Roman road leading to the Great St. Bernard Pass.
Historically a vital communication route, the Pass has played a crucial role in the interactions between northern and southern Europe.
It has been traversed by leaders, pilgrims, popes, and travelers; the most famous passage is that of Napoleon in May 1800.
During the winter months, the road connection is maintained by the Great St. Bernard Tunnel.
The open and sun-drenched slopes of the Crevacol Peak feature a ski area of about 22 kilometers, reaching altitudes of 2400 meters, offering stunning views of the entire Great St. Bernard Valley, making it perfect for ski touring as well.
There are numerous trails for summer hikes or mountain biking, providing opportunities to observe the flora and fauna that define the valley. Noteworthy is the trail to Malatrà Pass, along the High Route No. 1, as well as excursions to Citrin and Serena Passes and the Tour des Combins.
Visitors can explore the Chez-Vuillen fortress and the ancient stone washhouse adorned with the coat of arms of the Counts Savin of Bosses, the 15th-century Castle of the Lords of Bosses, and the museum of the Great St. Bernard Hospice at the Pass, where in summer, one can also visit the breeding ground for St. Bernard dogs, the original forerunners of modern rescue dogs.
In July, Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses hosts the traditional Jambon de Bosses festival, celebrating the renowned and high-quality cured ham with a delicate flavor, which is aged strictly in the mountain pastures of the area. This product has recently received DOP recognition.
On the last Sunday of Carnival, the streets of the village come alive with the Landzette, the Bosses masks adorned in their elaborate costumes.
