Description
The story
Once it was just a typical mountain house. Now, after one year of passionate works its cellar, stable, kitchen, bedroom, hayloft and loft had been converted into a confortable maison, where you could experience the Aosta Valley tradition of living. Six comfortable rooms that resume possession of their original names,”crota, ehstabio, peyo, chiambretta, pailly, ras”, in which relax and look for the deepest peace of mind.
Six rooms with customized fittings, equipped with high quality conforts but always keeping original characteristics. Furthermore, in the house surroundings, solarium and outdoor relaxing areas are at disposal for resting the mind.
Starting from building’s employed materials to both indoor and outdoor coverings, we tried to create a bio compatible house. Also, we choose ecological energy for warming up the water and solar panels for the heating.
Where we are
The Maison is located in the old village of Maè at 1100 meters of altitude, setted in the marvellous Ayas Valley, that has been called “one of the most beautiful European valley”. It is surrounded by the fascinating Mont Néry and Dame de Challand peaks, further to alpine lakes, sheperd’s hut, pastures and offers an unforgettable view of the Graines ‘ castle ruins.
You could choose wheter to explore the southern side of the valley, towards Verrès, walking through chestnut and broad-leaved reaching Villa’s castle ruins, lake and natural falls, or hiking in the northern side through conifers and ancient quartz mines, along medieval irrigation canal and finally reach the Monte Rosa glaciers. For people fond of no kill fishing, there’s the possibility to practise this activity in the Casinò supply, in Evançon stream in Challand Saint Anselme.
During the winter season a lot of other suggestions for your outdoor activities. In Brusson, few km far from Maè, is located the international cross country track, among the best in Europe, where World Cup had been played. In Palasinaz are available both cross country and alpine slopes together with a snow park and others at Col di Joux, natural terrace overlooking the Valley and from where it’s possible to see also the Mont Blanc on sunny days. Finally, in Champoluc the widest skiarea, the Monterosaski, that offers more than 190 km of slopes, covering also Gressoney and Alagna Valleys.

After a year of bio-construction and careful restoration work, a wine cellar, stable, kitchen, bedroom, barn, and loft have been transformed into the Maison Dominique. This chalet from the 1600s, pleasantly immersed in greenery at the foot of the Graines Castle, now offers its guests a taste of the ancient Valdostan culture of living, naturally constructed of stone and wood.
"We wanted to create a Slow environment to give value to time, intimacy, privacy, and exclusivity. There is passion and love in every detail, and nothing is left to chance. Anyone who enters the Maison should feel at home."
The story that led to the birth of this Maison began with a chance encounter, love at first sight. The energy of those ancient walls and that place, which spoke echoes of distant stories, "spoke" to the person who, 12 years ago, caught those echoes in the wind of the valley, feeling a call.. that same person who is now the current owner and "custodian of history" of the chalet, Nica.
In Nica's life, the Maison was a spontaneous and destined landing. It was clear from the beginning that nature was calling her: passionate about natural elements since childhood, she transformed her life from a career as a naturopath to that of an osteopath, taking care of guests through authentic hospitality.
By giving visitors a place where nothing is left to chance, where true passion for hospitality is revealed in every detail, the six comfortable rooms of the Maison Dominique offer an isolated and exclusive place of welcome for all those who love the authenticity of places and distance from chaos.
"Our gratitude is expressed through emotions, daily kind gestures, small attentions, products made by us, words and thoughts made available to those who choose us and want to receive them as a gift and recognition. Our idea: a small path together, for an exchange and sharing of subtle and respectful energies that would like to leave a trace in the heart." Nica.

Area countryside
After a whole year of work, a wine cellar, a stable, a kitchen, a bedroom, a hay loft and an attic have been transformed into a comfortable Maison with an old-style feel, using natural wood and stone in the ancient tradition of the Aosta Valley. Six comfortable rooms whose names evoke their original purpose; a place to rediscover inner peace.
The Maison is located in the ancient village of Maè, set in the magnificent Ayas Valley, which at 1100metres above sea level is considered by many to be Europe’s most beautiful. It faces a fabulous view of the Castle of Graines, and is surrounded by the peaks of Mont Nery and the Dame de Challand, and countless Alpine huts, farmsteads and mountain lakes.
Walking, mountain biking and horse-riding routes ranging from easy to medium-difficult lead down the valley towards Verres, among chestnut and broad-leaved woods around the ruins of Villam castle, its lake and natural waterfalls, or up the valley towards the former gold quartz mine at Bechax, on trails that follow medieval irrigation channels through coniferous forests all the way up to the majestic glaciers at the foot of Monte Rosa.
For fishing enthusiasts there’s the option of catch and release in the Casinò reserve of the Evançon river at Challand Saint Anselme. In winter, visitors to Alesax can try ice climbing on a 120-metre waterfall; a few kilometres away in Brusson are some of the best cross-country ski pistes in Europe, the venue for world championships; at Palasinax there’s downhill and cross-country skiing and a Snowpark for old and young alike; more downhill skiing at the Col di Joux, an Alpine plateau with views of Mont Blanc; and, towards Champoluc, the largest downhill ski complex in the Alps, with over 190 km of pistes and links with the adjacent valleys of Gressoney and Alagna, plus plenty of fabulous options for lovers of ski mountaineering.
An agreement is in place with the brand new Monterosaterme Wellness Centre, for visitors seeking total wellness and relaxation.

Good property but the access is difficult because the narrow road access makes it difficult to access the main road (too sharp angle).
Breakfast is poor (necessity to go to the near hotel to get bread and butter the evening before and spoons, knives and plates are not enough).

Veramente incomprensibile, senza senso.
