Description

A Barma is a protrusion in the rock, it is the shelter where you slip in when you find a storm in the mountains. Here in this place, the barma is a kind of hollow tree, one of those trees that you can slip inside to watch the snow sliding on other snow, layer upon layer.

An ancient house dating back to 1724.

It is located within the village of Estoul, a characteristic mountain village at an altitude of 1850 meters and overlooking the Ayas valley.

In winter, just a few meters (about 200) from the starting point of the Brusson - Palasinaz ski lifts.

In summer, it is an ideal starting point for numerous hiking itineraries, both on foot and by mountain bike. Or, simply, an ideal place to rest and appreciate a life still in contact with nature.

You may therefore see Grandma Anna's cows grazing, or Graziella's chickens scratching in the meadow next to the path.

You will probably see Mauro passing by with large buckets full of water, as he goes to tend to his garden.

Or if you are lucky, towards evening you may come across a deer or a stag that, absentmindedly, has come too close to the houses.

At Barma Drola, we provide our esteemed guests with a plentiful and authentic buffet breakfast, both sweet and savory options included.

In addition to Alpenzu bread, butter, and jams, we also offer homemade cakes, fruits, biscuits, croissants, cereals, and fruit juices. The yogurt, as well as the cheese and cold cuts, are supplied by the Fromagerie di Brusson.

Of course, coffee, milk, and tea are also available to complete your breakfast experience.

By chance I found this wonderful place, an old rascard renovated leaving everything as it used to be. For those who love tranquility, it's a charm. Add a locally sourced breakfast and the owner's availability. You can't wish for more.

We stayed at this property with our family and a couple of friends. Beautiful rooms, meticulously cared for and very clean. The breakfast was excellent, plentiful, and varied. The owner was very kind and helpful during the booking phase and very discreet and friendly during our stay. I recommend it especially to those who need to relax in contact with nature.

A small and lovely bed & breakfast that smells of wood and forest. A beautiful recovery of an old structure (probably a house with a barn). The environment is very well maintained. The bath products are also local with essential oils that release a very pleasant wild, mountain aroma. The breakfast also offers local products and is self service. The homemade jams and cakes are very good. Eggs, cheeses, and cold cuts are also provided. Warm bread. Some gluten-free and dairy-free products are missing. To be honest, we did not make a specific request assuming that this kind of attention in the mountains is difficult, where dairy products are usually local and not industrial and also for this reason highly promoted, so they were not on display but we cannot say that they were completely absent on request. The cherry room (a double with a third single bed) used by 3 people is small but comfortable with a spacious bathroom. The wifi had a weak signal but this place is to be appreciated as an immersion in mountain nature that helps to "disconnect" from the digital world and reconnect with nature. The ski slopes are 150 meters away. Enjoyable stay.

For those who love the mountains, with its variety of woods, pastures, rocks, and snow, at 'A Barma Drola' one can find the best accommodation, full of the atmosphere of the past but with all the advantages of the present, an owner with whom to share the passion for everything the true mountain can offer, to ask for directions to make the most of the places and opportunities they offer, without feeling like foreign tourists, but welcomed friends. Something more: an underlying common feeling about the past that doesn't die but lives on in memory and remembrance. For me, the possibility of a good retreat, even if only intermittent.
