Dimora dei Priori

The Dimora dei Priori is located along the Costa dei Trabocchi in Torino di Sangro – Lido le Morge – in the most beautiful and captivating stretch of the Abruzzo coastline. Other notable tourist destinations include the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano, an ancient city rich in history, art, and traditions; the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli in Casalbordino, which is celebrated in some of D'Annunzio's most beautiful writings; the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, regarded as the largest estate in Southern Italy; the War Cemetery, built in memory of English soldiers who fell during the Battle of Sangro; the charming town of Vasto, with its Belvedere and the Punta Penna lighthouse from which one can seemingly command the sea; and San Vito Chietino, home to the D'Annunzian Hermitage that inspired the poet's "The Triumph of Death."

Due to its unique location, the Dimora dei Priori serves as the perfect starting point for reaching the main tourist attractions in Abruzzo, including the mountainous areas. Despite being a coastal town, Torino di Sangro lies at the foothills of the Majella, making it easy to access the national parks in the region (Gran Sasso Monti della Laga and Majella).

Additionally, there is a dense network of Natural Reserves throughout the area, such as the Lecceta of Torino di Sangro, which is a refuge for various birds and raptors, as well as the land tortoise (a unique and therefore protected species of turtle that finds shelter in this green oasis, helping to combat the threat of extinction).

Visitors can also explore fortifications, castles, and even mysterious caves, such as the “Cavallone,” where time seems to stand still among the stalagmites and stalactites.
