Www. animaliselvaggi. it B&B WILD ANIMALS -Authentic Bed and Breakfast in the Mountains of Italy-
Our house, situated at the center of the village adjacent to the town hall, offers comfortable accommodation in three guest bedrooms. Each bedroom is located on the ground floor and connects to its own private bathroom. Each bedroom also features rich wooden furniture from the early 19th century. The furniture belonged to our grandparents and has been polished and restored by us using only organic beeswax and lemon essential oil. The rooms are welcoming, each with its own history.
We, Alessandra and Antonio, reside on the first floor. This allows us to spend part of the day with our guests, starting with breakfast time. Breakfast foods are chosen with utmost thoughtfulness: all-natural pastry items; fresh fruits and jams; fair trade coffee, tea, and sugar; local breads, honey, and cheeses. To promote low environmental impact, the Bed and Breakfast utilizes an alternative solar heating system, a Termocamino, and energy-saving light bulbs.
Since we are convinced that we can never dedicate enough time to those we cherish, we do not offer television service in the rooms.
The name of our Bed and Breakfast, Animali Selvaggi (Wild Animals), was chosen to describe our personal natures. We spend the majority of our days in the mountains, which persistently beckon to us with their abundant color, plant life, and animal life. Our horses, the other voices of nature that call us into the wild, have been reared from birth with great consideration for their wild and free spirits. They live in a semi-natural state of freedom and from April through December graze freely on the mountain (Massiccio dell’Ortella), which extends 2000 meters in altitude.
Thus, our offer is not limited to accommodations and breakfast. Both of us are licensed Equi-Tourism and Mountain Hiking Guides, as well as certified Nordic Walking Instructors. We can guide you in the discovery of unfrequented Italian landscape apart from busy tourist hotspots.
Pescasseroli offers direct access to several trails that weave through the national park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. From the ancient forests of beech trees, which envelop our house lovingly and limit our view, the paths arrive atop the mountain peaks to allow the eye to wander across the horizon. The Abruzzo National Park was established officially in 1923 in order to preserve the multifarious flora and fauna that find shelter in the forests. The most unique animals representative of the park are the marsicano brown bear (ursus arctos marsicanus) and the chamois (rupicapra rupicapra ornata, a goat-antelope species native to the mountains of Europe), both of which arrived during the last glaciations. Thanks to the park’s geographic isolation, these two species have become genetically differentiated from their original species and represent an exclusive endemism of central Italy. To walk amidst the ancient nature and remarkable wildlife (roebucks, wolfs, deer, foxes, buzzards, eagles, etc.), which has populated the land for millions years, is a unique and unforgettable experience.
A walk in the mountains represents more than a physical journey; in Pescasseroli, it becomes a mystical journey as well. Within the forests, there is no traffic, no traffic lights, and no smog; rather, there exists only respect, common understanding, and a love for nature. A breath of fresh mountain air evokes an appreciation for the pleasures of life. The beauty, purity and freedom invigorate our senses enough to give the impression of becoming a "Wild Animal", like the creatures that reside in the forest.
Because we have the privilege of living in harmony with the animals of the forest and with the ones that we breed, we campaign all our days to protect these sacred places for future generations. We would like to accompany you on a small journey to discover the soothing feeling of being in tune with nature, a feeling that can be all but forgotten. We have opened the doors of our house in the same manner in which a window may be opened to reveal the horizon, to stretch our sights and to welcome all those who would like to explore the mountains together with us.
Based on their individual interests, our guests can:
1- Experience first hand the natural world of horses.
To us, our horses are like members of the family a perspective that distinguishes us from a traditional horse riding camp. By taking walks though the mountainside we can observe the horses in their natural state and witness how the foals, matriarchs, stallions, and geldings interact with each other.
“Horses are for [us] a show of incomparable beauty. The earth animates their passage, feeds them, protects them, and nurtures them in chaotic harmony. The sun warms them, the rain washes them, the frost makes them strong and the desert makes a natural selection of them; the wind brushes them so they can shine in the moonlight. Praise be to the Creator. ” (GLF)
2- Take Nordic walking classes and thus enjoy a unique mode of exercise.
Nordic Walking, a new type of sport that originated in Finland, involves walking (as well as running, jumping, and similar forms of exercise) with handheld sticks especially developed for this particular sport. The sport offers a natural and very effective way to improve physical condition and muscle tone, regardless of age, sex, and prior physical training. In addition, Nordic Walking is fun, relaxing, and inexpensive. It can be practiced anywhere and in every season.
3- Devise any other type of excursion.
4- Visit the farm
We have sheep, chickens, rabbits, and a beautiful little garden set against the mountains.
So if our philosophy of life and our offered activities and excursions interest you, we wait eagerly for you in Pescasseroli at Via Colli dell’Oro, 31, National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio & Molise.
