Altrocanto

At Altrocanto, we offer zero-kilometer dining in a cozy and relaxing environment, where care and familiarity are equally felt. For our preparations, we only use seasonal products from small local producers, locally sourced flour and oil, strictly Abruzzo wines, preferably organic. The only non-local products are supplied by Fair Trade and LiberaTerra (organic productions on lands confiscated from the mafia). In this way, we try to contribute to the local area and feel supported by it in an active and responsible interaction.

Our menu is very concise, usually offering a choice between two options for appetizers, first courses, main courses, and desserts. It changes approximately every two weeks but may have substitutions or new dishes introduced daily, depending on the availability of local products and, above all, the chef's creativity. The basis for this choice is the desire to prioritize the authenticity of flavors, the rediscovery of local and niche products often excluded from large-scale distribution, and why not, also to reduce waste by avoiding the accumulation of large stocks of food.

Instead of filling freezers, we prefer, like housewives, to go several times a week to our trusted butcher, or to the characteristic farmers' market in Penne, or to the cheese factory, or to Mrs. Luciana's to get the renowned Pecorino di Farindola.

In this way, we try to build and maintain a direct human relationship with our suppliers, which is rewarding and also very valuable, considering that the best tips in the kitchen almost always come from the producers of raw materials, like the fantastic ladies of the market!
Our offer always includes both meat and vegetarian dishes, and if notified in advance, we can also accommodate vegan friends. In a quiet and enveloping room, with a light musical accompaniment, we can accommodate a maximum of 25 guests at our 7 tables.
