Altrocanto is located in the strong and gentle land of the Abruzzo, in the remote village of Farindola, at the feet of a majestic mountain. Far from crowds, from chaos, and from indiscreet eyes, Altrocanto is our long sought dream, finally realized, with love and attention.

This is a place of calm, slow days, lost time found again, reading; a place for the rediscovery of taste; and a starting place for joyful daytrips, cultural visits and silent pilgrimages.

At Altrocanto, we offer zero-kilometer dining in a cozy and relaxing environment, where care and familiarity are equally felt. For our preparations, we only use seasonal products from small local producers, locally sourced flour and oil, strictly Abruzzo wines, preferably organic. The only non-local products are supplied by Fair Trade and LiberaTerra (organic productions on lands confiscated from the mafia). In this way, we try to contribute to the local area and feel supported by it in an active and responsible interaction.

Our menu is very concise, usually offering a choice between two options for appetizers, first courses, main courses, and desserts. It changes approximately every two weeks but may have substitutions or new dishes introduced daily, depending on the availability of local products and, above all, the chef's creativity. The basis for this choice is the desire to prioritize the authenticity of flavors, the rediscovery of local and niche products often excluded from large-scale distribution, and why not, also to reduce waste by avoiding the accumulation of large stocks of food.

Instead of filling freezers, we prefer, like housewives, to go several times a week to our trusted butcher, or to the characteristic farmers' market in Penne, or to the cheese factory, or to Mrs. Luciana's to get the renowned Pecorino di Farindola.

In this way, we try to build and maintain a direct human relationship with our suppliers, which is rewarding and also very valuable, considering that the best tips in the kitchen almost always come from the producers of raw materials, like the fantastic ladies of the market!
Our offer always includes both meat and vegetarian dishes, and if notified in advance, we can also accommodate vegan friends. In a quiet and enveloping room, with a light musical accompaniment, we can accommodate a maximum of 25 guests at our 7 tables.

Wonderful little house in the heart of the small town of Farindole. This property immediately impresses with its warm, welcoming atmosphere. In every room, including the common areas, you can find a comfortable seat and many books to read and consult. Generous breakfasts with fresh fruit, jams and homemade pastries. Dinner, from Wednesday to Sunday, is amazing and thoughtfully prepared. On request, a plant-based menu is available (great!). The hosts are helpful and friendly and were able to accommodate every request with exceptional kindness. I highly recommend it!

We stayed at this property, where nothing is left to chance. Everything is cared for in the smallest details, with attention to the outdoor and indoor spaces. Everything is tasteful and there is particular attention to environmental sustainability. There is absolutely no use of plastic and the breakfast includes foods prepared by them with local products, as does the restaurant menu. Only note: I would suggest a larger quantity of bathroom products. Excellent value for money.

It was a treat to stay at this beautiful property and meet the wonderful host, Thomas. The food was superb. Marco cooks different and delicious cakes each day for breakfast and prepares extraordinary dishes for dinner six nights a week. The house has been updated with the latest and greatest fixtures and decorated in a delightful way with a whimsical touch. We would return in a New York minute.

A perfect welcome in a very well-kept setting, exceptional breakfasts. I recommend trying the restaurant, which is also excellent. The location, a few kilometers from the Gran Sasso nature reserve, makes it a place I highly recommend.

Place unsuitable for those who want to stay in the countryside, despite the published photos, because it is inside the village, although the photos show a house and a (small) garden. Very well-kept rooms, good restaurant, very modest portions. Cold, unwelcoming reception. I would update the air conditioning system.

It was a nice discovery! The location is very well curated in the details of the furnishings. The environment is very clean and welcoming. A corner of peace and serenity. Highly recommended! Due to a short stay, we could not taste the cuisine which, upon seeing the menu, piqued our curiosity. I hope there will be an opportunity to return.

Beautiful and very clean property. Extremely peaceful location. Thomas is a attentive and very kind manager. Finally, excellent and plentiful breakfasts and an equally excellent and refined restaurant that for us was a great solution for dinner at the end of two 'full throttle' days. Highly recommended. Delightful structure, attention to detail. Special focus on environmental sustainability, extremely kind manager, provided us with useful tips to explore the area. We also had the chance to appreciate, besides the excellent quality and variety of breakfast, the restaurant's cuisine, being able, in this case as well, to appreciate the quality of the raw materials and the extreme skill in turning them into excellent dishes. We stayed at this splendid Altrocanto and we were fascinated and enchanted. The decor in the rooms and throughout the Altrocanto is very unique and well cared for. Likewise, there is a lot of care in the dishes and the quality is very high. The starters are excellent. The Farindola pecorino is unique, the beef Medici and linguine with sweet pepper and cod are special. The manager is a helpful and kind person who makes you feel at ease.

We were here yesterday, my husband and I, just for lunch. We were impressed by the very welcoming structure with a somewhat vintage but tastefully chosen and carefully detailed decor. Also appreciable is the series of valuable novels and poems made available to customers. The cleanliness of the premises is excellent, especially the bathroom which is also very well-kept. The cuisine offers a mixture of new flavors well balanced with each other and the presentation of the dishes is excellent. The manager and the chef are discreet but very kind and helpful. Definitely worth considering for various occasions.

We stayed for two nights as a starting point to visit Gran Sasso. Thomas' availability is truly excellent. The room, as well as the entire structure, is tastefully furnished, the room cleanliness is perfect. In the evening, we dined at the restaurant inside the facility with excellent food. The cuisine is not local, but it is made at 0 km, that is, with local foods prepared by Marco with great skill. I recommend it to everyone. I will definitely come back if I ever find myself in those areas.
