The Bed & Breakfast Abruzzo Segreto is placed in a charming rural landscape nearby the ancient village Navelli, exclusive also for the planting and production of saffron. It offers the guests an ideal place for a relaxing holiday deep in nature, not far away from the most important touristic, thermal and historical places in Abruzzo.
Navelli is placed in the middle between the three National Parks: Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga, Velino Sirente and Maiella.
At the Bed & Breakfast Abruzzo Segreto you will be welcomed by Francesca and Jimmy who will be pleased to give you hospitality and guide you in the discovery of this marvellous land its innumerable folk and religious festivals. They will also suggest you the best restaurants and the delicious traditional dishes of these places.
From your room you will have a view on the typical hills landscape and the Navelli lowland and you will also be able to admire the village of the Middle Ages.
You will be given a european breakfast in the large and sunny hall with the genuine typical products of this land that have the taste and fragrance of our traditional ancient receipts.
During summer you can have breakfast also on the large terrace. You can spend relaxing moments also in parlour games, the game of chess/draughts or in the library, all at your disposal.

Here's what our breakfast includes: jam, butter, yogurt, multivitamin juice, water, toasted bread, "pizzelle" (a type of cookie), whole almonds, "confetti" (sugar-coated almonds), chocolate-filled cookies, puff pastry cookies, shortbread cookies, chocolate shortbread cookies, brioche, cornflakes, All Bran, small doughnuts, Coco Pops, muesli, Nesquik, Ovomaltine, Orzoro, coffee, tea, hot/cold milk, eggs, cheese, garden tomatoes, our own fruit production, quality extra-virgin olive oil, etc.

Abruzzo Segreto was created during the Spring of 2005, from an idea of Francesca Ardizzola, in the ancient Medieval village of Navelli, at a time where tourism was not a yet a thing.
Francesca was born in North of Italy, having an Abruzzese mum (from Navelli), who emigrated in the 1960s. Although the life was nice and good for the Ardizzola family, between Piedimont and Liguria, the ancient village of Navelli was the place where Francesca’s heart was, where she would spend every summer time enjoying nature and peasant life style. The old stone-made building of Granma Luigia was the actual home where Francesca would find herself every summer.
At the age of 30, Francesca gives up her life in Milan, where she was running a 6-years long business of ancient books and antiques, to change completely her life. Far from the glamour life style of the big city, she makes the decision to go back to the ancient village she belongs to and that she visited every summer ever since she was a child. She would buy an ancient building of the 19th century surrounded by a beautiful private garden – in the 19th century the building used to be the Studio of the Doctor of Navelli.
The experience in the city provided Francesca with professional experience, knowledge of the languages and a skill set that made it easier to start up the Bed & Breakfast idea.
Right after Francesca started her business, many others similar businesses started up in the region, boosting up a good quality touristic industry.
Since the beginning, Abruzzo Segreto was one of those internationally recognized B&Bs, also recommended by relevant guide of the sector like Michelin Guide. In Italy it was also suggested by the Italian Club Touring Guide, from whom Abruzzo Segreto bed rooms get rewarded every year with the Premio Stanze Italiane TCI, since 2012. Awesome discovery was finding out that, in over 12 years of touristic activity in Abruzzo, Abruzzo Segreto’s customers vary a lot for nationality, and types of traveler: people who visited Abruzzo Segreto were third generation gran children of emigrants from Abruzzo, that would come back to discover their origins; botanical international experts visiting the region to monitor the blooming of rare orchids species that grow on the mountains around; ornithologists, entomologists, people who love trekking in the nature or expert alpinists who enjoy the highest peaks of Abruzzo. There were also actors, Italian and International film troupes (even from Bollywood), interested in the fascinating locations of the beautiful outdoors of L’Aquila, to be perfect locations for unforgettable movies.

Lovely B&B, immersed in nature and peace, with extremely clean, spacious rooms and a very convenient internal parking. What makes this bed and breakfast special is the care, passion, and smile that Francesca and her partner put into managing it, making you feel at home, delighting you with advice on destinations, excursions, and 'secret' gems to visit in this wonderful region. The structure is a quiet place and excellently managed by Francesca, a nice and very helpful woman, along with Franco, a great expert of the area regarding the trails and their characteristics. The B&B is complete with everything and is an added value to a stay in an absolutely interesting area both for the neighboring villages and for the surrounding nature, enjoyable even for inexperienced hikers.

I stayed with my family and my dog at 'Abruzzo Segreto' of the very friendly Francesca, who welcomed us with the typical Abruzzese hospitality offering us an aperitif and a bowl of water for our dog upon our arrival. The structure and the rooms are very clean, welcoming, and detailed. The B&B is in a strategic position to visit the neighboring villages to Gran Sanno, the city of L'Aquila, Sulmona, the Valle Peligna up to Scanno. I highly recommend it and we will definitely return. Good choice! It's a lovely place. I was there during L'Aquila Festival and I was very happy to find that B&B. Our room was very nice and the owner very pleasant. The only thing that I can say to let you understand my feeling for the place is... I will be there again next year! Thanks Francesca for making us feel at home.

Francesca is a very hospitable person who knows how to put you at ease. She has a good knowledge of the territory and the culture. We spent beautiful days. We liked the tranquility.
