Villa Paggi Country House Carasco - Tourist Tips
Guesthouse

Tourist tips from the host

Could you recommend sites and monuments that tourists should visit in the town of Paggi.

Villa Paggi is located on a hill, 200 mt a. s. l. , 8 km (the final 1, 7 km is a narrow and twisting road) from the beaches of Chiavari, Lavagna, Cavi; 10 km from Sestri Levante; 25 km from Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, The Portofino Regional Park and Marine Reserved Area.
We are 50 km from the Cinque Terre and 45 from Genova, with the famous acquarium and the Renaissance palaces.
From Chiavari by car or train you can reach Genova in 40-50 min. Several paying parkings are available very close to the aquarium and the town centre.
It is advisable to reach the Cinque Terre by train, rather than by car because the drive from the Motorway exit to the coast is long and tortuous, and it's hard to park.
From Chiavari you reach Monterosso by train in 40 min; Riomaggiore in 50-60 min.
Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are connected by a trail (the Sentiero Azzurro), a ferry-boat and the railway.
To reach Portofino Park, a wonderful area for hiking, you can take the train in Chiavari to Santa Margherita (15 minutes).
Than a few options: a very enjoyable walk of 5 km along the sea or the bus or the ferry-boat.
From Portofino with the same ferry it is possible to reach the bay of San Fruttuoso with its tiny beach and the famous Abbey. Another boat to reach Camogli and from Camogli you can return back to Chiavari by train (25 minutes).
This is a convenient way to visit the Portofino National Park without any problem for parking the car.
Beaches:
Lavagna-Cavi, a long shore of sand and pebbles, 8 km from Villa Paggi.
Sestri Levante, the village is a peninsula with sandy beaches on the two sides, 10 km from Villa Paggi.
Zoagli, nice cosy place, clear water, pebbles and rocks, 10-12 km.
Paraggi, shallow and clear water, nice sandy beach, but small and very crowded, about 20 km.
You can always choose between the "lido", where one pay for the entrance, and the free beach. Both offer sun-umbrellas and sun-beds to rent.
From Villa Paggi in 15 min drive you reach Chiavari.
The public bus goes back and forth Carasco- Lavagna and/or Chiavari, but it does not drive the final 2 km from the village of Carasco to Villa Paggi.
It is also possible to rent cars, scooter or bikes.
