Description
The Poggiarello Castle is a historic residence located among the hills of Montagnola Senese, southwest of Siena. Dating back to the 13th century, it retains the charm of its medieval origins, featuring stone walls and a tower that overlooks the surrounding landscape. Transformed into a noble residence in the 16th century by the Chigi Saracini family, the castle now serves as a tranquil oasis where history and nature blend seamlessly.
The accommodations within the castle provide an authentic experience, free from modern excesses yet rich in charm and essential comforts. The apartment includes two bedrooms: one with a double bed and another with twin beds that cannot be combined. The kitchen is fully equipped, while the living room invites guests into a warm and homely atmosphere. The well-maintained bathroom completes the interior spaces, along with a private terrace featuring a patio, perfect for relaxing outdoors and enjoying the serenity of the countryside.
Although the apartment lacks heating and air conditioning, the natural climate of the area and the thickness of the ancient walls ensure a pleasant environment throughout the year. A crib and high chair for little ones are available upon request.
Guests can take advantage of the pool and playground, which are reserved exclusively for them, while free parking is located outside the main gate. For an even more comfortable stay, it is possible to order meals and breakfast, savoring the authentic flavors of local tradition.
The luxury of Poggiarello is not defined by ostentatious modernity, but by a timeless atmosphere where silence is only interrupted by the songs of birds and the aroma of must that fills the air during the grape harvest seasons. It offers a unique experience for those seeking a refuge away from the daily hustle and bustle, immersed in history and nature.

The Poggiarello Castle has a history that dates back to the 13th century when it was built as a fortress for the protection of the land and the preservation of crops. A land registry document from 1387 indicates the existence of a rural settlement with vineyards, reflecting the estate's well-established agricultural character. In the 16th century, the property was acquired by the Chigi Saracini family, one of the most influential families in Siena, who transformed the castle from a military stronghold into a noble residence. It was during this time that the Renaissance chapel, attributed to Baldassarre Peruzzi, was constructed, as well as the agricultural buildings that continue to define the surrounding landscape today.
In the following centuries, the castle retained its role as an agricultural and residential center, with an uninterrupted production of wine. The fortified architecture remained intact, enhanced by an Italian garden and an orchard, which have been preserved to the present day through careful restoration. Today, Poggiarello Castle is a historic residence registered with the ADSI (Association of Italian Historic Residences) and the FAI (Italian Environment Fund), serving as a testament to a noble past and a tradition that endures over time.
Welcoming guests to this location means providing them with a timeless experience in an authentic setting where history meets the unspoiled charm of the Tuscan countryside. The castle is a sanctuary for those seeking silence, beauty, and the opportunity to immerse themselves in a realm of nature, culture, and tradition.
