Coccodrillo Fiorito (meaning "flowery crocodile") is a self-sufficient room in the attic of an early 1900s-style townhouse — known simply as a "viareggina" — which has recently been remodeled with a bit of a personal touch. The owners live on the premises too, but this one room (the only one they let) can be accessed directly from the stairwell.
It comes with its own en-suite bathroom, complete with shower. The room itself is large enough to very comfortably fit a king-sized bed, plus sofa which converts to an extra bed if requested, and is naturally well-lit all year 'round (with window shutters to black it out when desired). It features air conditioning, a spacious wardrobe and, for your additional comfort, both a refrigerator and a coffee-maker. Bed linens and bath towels are included.
Please take care to notice: this room is located on the upper floor and can only be reached via a moderately challenging staircase. That, we are afraid, makes it unsuitable for people with impaired mobility.

"Rafu" (Raffaele) & Barbara are a husband-and-wife couple from elsewhere in Italy. After years of visiting Viareggio on our holidays, falling in love with her Carnevale celebrations in winter and her summer nightlife, of making friends here who showed us different facets of the city, we took a bold step and moved here for good. Viareggio has adopted us… now, our chance has come to host, advise, show other people around, and do it our way of course.

"Coccodrillo Fiorito" is located in a central spot within walking distance to almost everywhere in town. Just 200 metres from the railway station, on a street that leads straight to Piazza Mazzini: here are the seafront and beaches (800 meters from our location), the scenic promenade lined with 1930s buildings, as well as the entrance gate to the Carnevale parades (in February, 700 m). We are on a mostly residential street, but just 'round the corner is a commercial neighborhood with restaurants, cafés, boutiques and convenience stores, segueing into the market square and pedestrian high street.
Viareggio station is quite the nice starting point for touring the region by train: it's just a few minutes from Pisa or Lucca, an hour from La Spezia (of touristic interest as the gateway to Cinque Terre), 90 minutes from Florence (where you can change to a high speed train for any major Italian city).
In summer, special night buses stop right by the station, connecting central Viareggio with several famous clubs and nightlife hubs along the coast — so that you can enjoy all of the fun with absolutely no driving attached!
