Balate is situated in the old area of Ragusa Ibla, a few minutes away from the Duomo square dominated by the imposing San Giorgio church and exactly in the ancient district called "Sangiovannari" once inhabitated by bourgeois, artisans, farmers and "massari"; people actively engaged in the wheat trade and lands administration.
